  1. Obercommando , i'm sure anyone reading this would love to have a clue as to why you need so much money virtually every day. I'm not expecting you to reveal too much personal detail , but it is a huge sum you are spending , just a hint as to how would be of interest to us all i'm sure. I spend around 4-5000 baht a day for half the month on average (but some days almost nothing ) and i have always thought i was a big spender but you are something else.

I have a couple of cars, and some other stuff I am paying for on a monthly basis, as well as some business expenses, which makes up the most of it.

I'm earning more than I spend, and the business expenses are obviously recouped with profits.

If this is true you should be depositing money in the Bank, not withdrawing it?

  2. I have heard of two very similar cases in the last two months.

One friend of mine was experiencing problems with service at a club and was apparently rude to one of the staff. She was escorted down the police station by a manager and lodged a formal complaint alledging that my friend said '<deleted> you' to her (which he denies). He had to go down to the police station twice but eventually was not charged (probably because the staff member had no witnesses to corroborate her allegation.

A second friend was actually charged for 'rude and aggressive behaviour' (which amounted to him telling someone they were stupid and incompetent - which incidentally seemed to be a simple statement of fact). Again the person had no witnesses but when it came to court he was advised by the judge to plead guilty and accept a Bt1000 fine. This he did. The twist in the tale is this - when he went to Europe recently he was told by immigration officials that he was 'blacklisted' and could not return. As he both works in Thailand and has a Thai wife and family that was quite a blow especially as he has lived here for 12 years.

Now you might think the lesson in all of this is that you shouldnt be rude to someone in Thailand. The real lesson is that any allegation of misconduct by a farang by a Thai will be taken very seriously by the police (with or without corroborating witnesses). That essentially gives a license to any Thai to make your life a mess if they so choose.

BTW both allegations were made by very junior members of staff, not by people that could exert influence over the police. You also wont be surprised to know that the police were prepared to settle the matter if he paid them Bt150,000 but he refused partly out of the principle and partly because he believed that he was entitled to call someone 'stupid and incompetent' if they had acted in that manner.

What are the names of these clubs?

  3. It's not just the British Consulate here in Bangkok that's grossly incompetent, the indifference and laziness shown by this consular official are standard practice.

British High Commission officials in Pakistan have been accused of a dereliction of duty by failing to investigate bogus students entering the UK with false documents by the principal of a prestigious college on Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.

His explosive allegations come amid increasing diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and Britain over who is to blame for the high numbers of Pakistani nationals entering Britain on illegally obtained visas.

  4. The military commander in charge of security for the Asean Summit is a relative of Taxsin

The owner of the LPG tankers shown in BKK is a relative of Taxsin

Taxsin's family depart Thailand before the demonstrations escalate.

Taxsin intervewied on CNN claiming the army had shot many Red Shirts, and their body's secretly removed.

Yes I would say Taxsin is deeply involved, and of course he will deny it.

  5. Yes you are right Taxsin has done a lot more than me.

Cheated his business partner William Monson out of their joint venture

    Murdered 2500 people

Perverted the course of justice in his trial for assets declaration concealment

Engaged in massive conflict of interest scams as Prime Minister

Inflamed the South with his heavy handed approach

    (Undermined Anand's reconciliation efforts)

And now funding red shirts to overthrow the Government

    Is that enough???

  6. i was surprised when the yellow shirts said that the reds were not educated enough to vote, i thought they were elitist remarks and to be taken with a pinch of salt.

but having spent most of the past few days watching the news i have to say that those comments had more than just a grain of truth .

the reds are no more than a bunch of straw chewing village idiots (they even come complete with protruding teeth and silly hats.)

nasty, violent and rowdy troublemakers , full of anger, empty of reason , they were easily bought , easily convinced to do wrong, it is good to see them, at last, defeated with heads held low, boarding the cattle trucks and trains that will take them back to their miserable little villages.

abhisit ? after a slow and disappointing first half in pattaya, he came out after half time full of determination and played a wonderful tactical second half to win the game.

I do not know why wee allow the rich to vote, they are just a bunch of greedy corrupt people who's only interest in Democracy is how they can use to further enrich themselves.

  7. I'd wait for the dust to settle to begin count-up of who shot who/who fired first ect.......Thai media are controlling the news feeds and headlines at moment while international media are more cautious and need verification and witness's

With all the mobile phones around it would be impossible for the govt. to prevent images of any dead bodies, especially if there are hundreds, appearing on the internet.

If this mass of dead protesters existed we would have seen photos by now.

My feelings exactly, it would be impossible for the Government to block so many independent (foreign) news outlets.

  8. My wife put the about ฿150 in her back pocket at the check out counter at Tesco Lotus, Patum Thani.

Going down the escalator some guy stood very close to her, and started talking to our daughter. My wife being suspicious of his behavior pulled her handbag closer to her body, but it was not until she arrived home that she discovered the money in her back pocket was missing.

She called Tesco Lotus to inform them that there was a pick pocket working their store, but the Tesco Lotus rep; she spoke with was completely indifferent, he suggested that she call the police!!

It’s pretty obvious Tesco Lotus security is designed to protect Tesco Lotus, but their indifference to customers being robbed on their premises sucks.

Which one, there's four in Pathum.

    -- Amphur Muang

    -- Rangsit

    -- Klong 3

-- Klong 7, which is the one I go to. Ah, not this one, it's all on the ground, no escalators

The guy probably also works Big C, we have one at Klong 6.5, which I don't go to very often.

    Mac, Klong 10

    Amphur Muang

  10. This may be good news for Thailand but it’s really nothing but greed on the part of Fisher and Paykel, so why not just boycott them?

Whatever savings Fisher and Paykel make in this move will not be passed od to the consumer.

Between 2000 and 2004 the Indian economy rose 10% per annum, but the salaries of manufacturing workers during the same period fell from 25 cents to 23 cents per hour!

So Vidiadhar and Vincent entered the other growth area in Bangalore, making deals in the American clothing market.

    “Any labels I’d recognize”?

“Are you familiar with Kenneth Cole, Banana Republic, and Tommy Hilfiger” Vincent said

“Banana republic sells a type of pajama bottom that I usually wear on the train,

drawstring type with pockets they cost about 40$”

“We make them for 7$” Vidiadhar said. Any US clothing company could sell their clothes for fifty percent off and still make a profit.

  11. Yes let’s get back to a social democracy with high taxation to pay for the infrastructure that society needs, schools, hospitals and decent housing,

The financial crisis we are now facing is the result of sheer greed, and the talk of high taxation discouraging investment is self serving claptrap.
