    I have had about 4-5 rejections.  Never once did they include a reason, although there was a field for it on the rejection notice.   Good on your recipient for doing their duty.

    Yeah, the optional vs required name fields had taken a shift.  Following good advice on this forum about three years ago, I left all optional fields blank and my applications were accepted. Filling in optional feels seemed to get rejections regularly.

     

    However, last December, when I tried this, I had two applications rejected. When I personally went to my immigration office, and presented them with the data, they said “Oh no, you have to fill in your FULL name including your given name and middle name for this to work!”  There must’ve been some change in the system’s requirements sometime in late 2021.

     

    BTW, I just received an approval this morning from yesterday’s marathon attempts. For what its worth,  I had filled in all optional fields.

  3. After 1.5 hours of trying on the phone app, failed  (tried maybe 12 times; long process, starting from zero each time)

    After 30-45 minutes of trying on the web app went through (after trying 15-20 times)

    I'm not impressed  ????  

    Just one of many examples:  
    The first step of entering your email/password/Captcha was super-buggy.  Entered that data dozens of times, and finally it takes.  How absolutely frustrating.

    I'm no newcomer.   Have been reporting online for 3-4 years with wildly varying results.   Last visit to immigration was told, "Website no longer work.  Use phone app only."  But it was the online site where I finally got through.     

    Edit:  Just went to check "status," and website stops accepting email/password again, although my computer enters it automatically every time (including the successful times).  I check my passwords list--no change.  I would throw this computer through a window, except it's a Mac (don't you dare rebut!).

My car was t-boned from a guy backing out of a shopping center parking space.  He was clearly at fault.  He did not look.   He had one of those huge SUV's and mine was a small Chevy compact.    The significant damage and cameras from both cars corroborated the obvious placement of fault.

     

     My insurance agreed that the other guy was at fault, but decided to pay for damages to my car AND his.  No claims were to be made against his insurance.  Reason?  The offender "was well-connected" to the local police chief.   Those were the actual words of my insurance rep who came to survey the scene, see the cam footage, and talk to both parties.  The at-fault party made not-so-veiled threats to my insurance rep about getting his police buddy involved, and that it would get ugly.    

    The whole incident has really made me about 50% more cynical about living here.   It's really hard to get justice in a land where "who you know" trumps the laws.  Certainly no surprise, but it hits hard when you're the one personally caught in the middle.

  5. BACKGROUND:  
    I've done 60+ 90-day reports over 20 years with few issues.  Since the "great meltdown" of 3-4 months about a year or two ago (entire IMM website down), my 90-day online reports have gone flawlessly (except for one time when their "approved" came back 2 weeks after my hard deadline for reporting).  

     

    CURRENT STRUGGLE
    Now, my most recent report of November 22 (within the 15-day window) remained "PENDING" for 10 days.   Then, I received a "REJECTED" notice.  First time ever.  No notes in the "remarks" box;  no explanation whatsoever. 

    I went over my report with a fine-toothed comb.  No mistakes.  No abnormalities.  Just rejected.   Still within the 15-day window, I've now done a new report, triple-checking all the data entered.

    It's been "PENDING" for two days now.

    MY TAKE
    Something definitely abnormal is going on.   I'll make the 100km round trip to Immigration next week to inquire in person, assuming my second online report will bomb as well.   

    Just adding my input to the recent reports of online battles.

    In the past few weeks, many of you have asked about the availability of vaccines in Thailand.  I want you to know that I hear you and understand your concerns.  I am providing you with an update on the actions our government is taking to ensure you have access to vaccines. 

     

    The Biden-Harris Administration has embarked on a global effort to address this pandemic by sharing 80 million vaccine doses worldwide by the end of June and 500 million more in the coming year.  The first 25 million of these doses will soon be released, with seven million going to countries in Asia, including Thailand.  We continue to advocate with the Royal Thai Government for fair access to vaccines by our citizens.  We are heartened by Thai government commitments to vaccinate Americans and other foreign nationals who reside here, just as Thai and other nationals are receiving vaccinations with ease in the United States.

     

    The U.S. diplomatic mission has not been spared by COVID-19, as several families in our community have endured tragedies from this terrible pandemic.  Across the world, many countries are grappling with surges in COVID-19 cases and emerging variants among largely unvaccinated populations, requiring this crisis to be resolved on a global basis.  Our government is therefore taking a methodical, equitable, and science-based approach to direct vaccine doses to the most seriously afflicted countries.

     

    The U.S. Department of State is unable to provide vaccines to the millions of Americans who reside outside of the United States.  For those who wish to return to the United States to be vaccinated, information on vaccine availability at the state level is available at www.vaccines.gov.  Meanwhile, as Thailand pursues its vaccination program, I will continue to advocate for your equitable access, keeping in mind that many Thai citizens are also waiting for their own vaccines.  I welcome your personal experiences with vaccination conditions in your area, and have set up a new email account ([email protected]) to receive your submissions.  We continue to provide updated information on COVID-19 on our Embassy webpage at https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/.  We will work with the Thai government to ensure you are served in line with their goal to vaccinate all residents without regard to nationality.  

     

    The United States has made significant progress in fighting this pandemic, but I agree with you that the work is far from done.  I am optimistic that vaccine availability in Thailand will increase as the fruits of American technology are made available to the world.  Our own health agencies here in Thailand continue to work side-by-side with Thai colleagues to develop vaccines and therapeutics to defeat this pandemic over the long term.

    Had exactly the same experience as yours, but then I tried Steve73's little tip (a few posts back), suddenly, it worked!   Even got my "approved" email 24 hours later.

    Yeah, noticed this too and it WAS confusing.  Waited, and got the official "approval email" a day later.  

  9. Thanks Steve73 for posting this.  After trying the 90-online report for five days, and failing, I tried your tip and it worked like a charm.   Like you, I had problems with the 1st page freezing with  either 1) a notice to check with my local imm. office, or 2) blank/nothing.  

    Also, "pending" now.

    Last time, my pending status lasted 2 months, and I got an approval literally 1.5 months after my reporting deadline.  Of course, I had already reported in person on time by then, and the office had no clue why my online report was never approved in time.  

    Lesson:  Keep an eye on that status, and get that receipt via email before considering oneself "home free."  

  10. I have registered successfully accordingly to your directions. Thank you. Now I'm waiting for the password to be sent to my email. Generally how long does it take to receive the password? It this works, it will be very helpful and I'll pass on the info to as many of my expat friends as possible.

    I waited 4-5 months. I’ve heard waits as short as 6 weeks.

  11. Does anyone know whether immigration at Suvarnabhumi airport already demands to see that confirmation slip that everybody is supposed to carry around in their passport? Have there been any reports of people having problems exiting the country without that slip?
     
    I am asking because my landlady is still waiting to receive her user ID and password... but I'll have to go on an overseas business trip in two weeks.
     
    If immigration is not coming up with a solution that actually works very soon, this is all going to end in utter chaos for everybody.

    It took me 4-5 months to get an ID and password. I’m hearing as short as six weeks in some cases.

I thought having to go back to the IO I’m 7 days was the norm I have had to do that for the last few years for my extension of stay so,I always do my application 10 days before it expires just in case got to say on the initial visit the girls on the front desk go through it with a fine tooth comb take my money keep my passport and I collect it 7 days later.

    I don’t get it. For 17 years, I’ve gotten my extension stamp within 30 minutes of making application. Dealt with six IOs. Is the long holdup mainly in Bangkok?

  13. My local Immigration office told me that when I renew my Marriage Extension in August they will want at least 2 months records of foreign transfers to a Thai bank, which is helpful. When I told them Bangkok Bank want a Residency Certificate from Immigration they said OK, but it will cost me 500bht. This was not so helpful because last year they did not charge me a fee for Residency, when I transferred the registration of my pick-up from another province.

     

    There is no fee for a residence certificate. Any money required for such a document is an under-the-table bribe. I confirmed this at Khon Kaen which refused to give a receipt for the 600 baht they wanted for this document. They know that if you take such a receipt to the anti-corruption authorities, the shit will hit the fan.

     

    When a policeman or a government official refuses to issue a receipt for monies paid, you know it’s tea money.

  14. Moi renewed his Retirement Extension yesterday w/absolutely no problems.
    As long as you have the bank letter & the passbook, it's a piece of cake. [emoji846]

    What is this “letter?” What are the minimum points the letter must address? Is there a template or sample anywhere?

    I keep hearing about three things: passbooks, statements, and letters. What does immigration want to see?

  15. We also have regular garbage service in our small Isaan district. What’s more, it’s FREE. Yet, the neighbors prefer to burn. From 5-7pm, the toxic smoke hangs like a thick, choking fog everywhere. My Thai friend explained: “It’s to chase away the mosquitoes.” I still get bitten.
