What a great reply. I actually lived in Rayong when I first got here, about 14 years ago. A bit quiet for my tastes. On the other hand, the golf cart sounds super cool, although not practical here in bkk... I found a very cool older place, actually a 126 sqm 2 br, in a quiet, but easily reachable to bts and all, in Phra Khanong, for about 25K. Not bad for this part of town. All of the built in cabinets and closets are hardwood, in beautiful condition, and the tile floors are also excellent. So, I got what I was looking for in the end.

Classic Cannabis: Legends Never Die
HermosaBeachGuy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
The images are most probably fakes.... probably from some nostalgic production from the period. The truth is, most of us were wearing elaborate costumes. For guys, the hair was often more than enough for identity, and ostracism by "society". If I'm honest, bell bottoms and a blue double-pocketed work shirt with an Army jacket was my typical uniform from about '67 - 73/74 (when Nixon got the boot). After that, the look became entirely co-opted, assimilated, and ultimately replaced by the first disco boom in the late 70's (Saturday Night Fever) era. The hippie revival didn't really start until post-Reagan era. when anything in the past looked better than the cultural void of the 80's. This is much more what we usually looked like, day to day. -
So, I've only been here for about 14 years, but it seems like the rental market has changed so much. Modern construction is typically quite small, often under 40 sqm for a 1 bedroom. In contrast, looking at a lot of the construction from the 90's and early 00's, the rooms are a lot larger, and there is often much nicer wood used for cabinets, tables and the like. Many such flats are available in smaller buildings, sometime calling themselves unironically "mansions". I lived in one such place on Suk Soi 27 back in the day, and it was super convenient, and quite low priced. I've spotted one or two such buildings/flats for rent on FAZWaz, but I'm wondering if anyone knows any other resources (other than walking the neighborhoods) for listings of this type of place.

Very VERY specifically, I'm looking for a place to buy weed to make edibles and oil. So, anything with a decent thc count and a price in the 100 grams for 900 or less is fine with me. I just got ripped off for the first time tying to buy from a seller on Line, so if you have first hand experience with your suggested vendor, so much the better. You can reply here, you can dm/pm me, whatever you'd like. Line, Telegram, Whatsapp, all are fine for me.

Wow, no idea where this thread has gone, but I'll try here first before creating a new one. But again, all I want is legit contact information, so if you have any other suggestions/advice/opinions, you are, of course, welcome to post them here, but please do so knowing they are utterly useless to me. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

So, I found one interesting contact on telegram. dm/pm (?) me for details.... and please share any you have found, either here, or direct message (there, that sorts it). -
Online shopping Feb. 2023
HermosaBeachGuy replied to HermosaBeachGuy's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Sorry, I can't recall the specific one you sent me... old age as much as cannabis, I'm afraid. But, there were some product lines, i.e. edibles, and brick product suitable for creating edibles, things of that nature that I can't seem to locate anymore, since the line shops went away. There are countless sites with very nice flowers in the 350-800 baht range, but I'd prefer to spare my lungs. Anyway, it was like the were all there one day, and vanished the next... so, I can't be the only one inconvenienced by that... -
ok, I'll be brief this time. All of the online shopping results from a "kush" or "edible" search on Line Shopping are now gone. There are still some websites, but they don't compare in terms of variety and pricing. If someone knows of another comparable resource/manner in which these vendor now do business, please let me know.. on this forum, or you can msg me with the info. Much appreciated.

Bro, your memory is a bit limited. I was thinking today about quality, and remembering getting sold a dime bag of oregano by a very hot hippie outside the Filmore East to see Joplin in '69. And I was like 14, I needed that $10... luckily the usher had a 4 way hit of acid that she shared. But, rip offs were an integral part of the drug scene from day 1. It was much easier when you were trying to be low key, because you were committing a jailable crime buying a joint.... I've been batting about 90% with products purchased online here in BKK, both in quality and in weight... so, these are the good old days, imo.

Ok, not sure if this is the place for this or not, or what's "ok" to say or not, so lmk. So, I've only been purchasing cannabis here in BKK for about 2.5 months. In that time, I became aware of the ability to use the Line Shopping feature with certain key search words to find ample product supply with delivery. However, recently this isn't really the case anymore. So, two things: 1. is this a regulatory thing related to flower sales? 2. Can anyone suggest, if it's appropriate to ask, what alternatives exist for someone who's not in the middle of town and would prefer to simply order online. Thanks,

Pre-need cremation and repatriation services
HermosaBeachGuy replied to HermosaBeachGuy's topic in Bangkok
yes, but there's still a bureaucracy regarding notifications, i.e. local police/hospital, actual funeral home/crematorium, US Embassy, and transport service. Fed Ex isn't going to do that. And that's all the rigmarole that I'm seeking to spare my kids from having to sort out at that time. BTW, I'm going with Asiaone. The pricing is very comparable among those I've contacted, and they seem the most professional. Anyway, I've done my best. If it gets <deleted> up, I won't be there to worry about it anymore. -
Pre-need cremation and repatriation services

Wow, these things do tend to stray, and get personal. As to what's "proper", both in terms of perspective and behavior, well, I believe both are entirely subjective, and the cultural and religious bias regarding death and post-death rituals render the opinions of others valueless for me and my family. My primary inclinations in this matter stem from the passing of my parents. Omitting all salient details suffice it to say I emerged from those experiences convinced that watching me breathe my last, and/or dealing with the disposition of my corpse were not memories of me I wanted to exist for my children, with the prominence they do for me vis a vis my parents. Having said that, there were conversations and no opposition at all to my intentions. I have a couple of favorite spots in Southern California, and I can rely on my kids to make a nice morning or sunset out of emptying the coffee can and bidding me a fond farewell. As to the one remark regarding having some sort of physical touchstone, such as a grave or even a small urn memorial, such as you see in Korea or Japan (here?), I've never understood the value in a post rural culture for such an item, and, given the electronic presence we all have which will unavoidably outlive us, reminders of my very happy, yet in no way significant life, will persist past the point of any interest at all. So, for me, it's all about no muss, no fuss.... My relationship with God, and my family is not a constraint on my decisions in any way. -
Pre-need cremation and repatriation services
HermosaBeachGuy replied to HermosaBeachGuy's topic in Bangkok
it's a request of my kids, who also don't adhere to any specific religious tradition..... I care about them. I'm just saying that the actual "arrangements" in my family of origin's traditions were "a lot", especially when being done quasi-remotely. Given what I know about Thai administration, I'm hoping to spare my kids from much more than a notification that I've passed, and arranging to pick up my ashes, or have them delivered. -
So, I'm not getting any younger, and I'm quite alone for the remainder of my days here in Bangkok. My kids are grown, in the US, and needn't deal with all the bs that I went through with my parents at their ends. So, I plan on being cremated here, and having my remains shipped back to California to be disposed of. Has anyone got any experience/recommendations for service providers in this regard? I'm already in touch with AsiaOne and an outfit going by Be Assistance, apparently out of Cairo. But any/all additional recommendations are appreciated, and if anyone has ACTUAL experience with the process, that would be most valuable. Thanks

Well, I found a place in Line marketplace that sells baked goods for 60 baht each, and 1/2 is more than sufficient for me to have a fun 4-5 hours. They also sell infused butter for 300 baht, and I used 1/2 to make some chocolate chip cookies that have yielded about 30 doses. So, while I have found some expensive sources as well, right now I'm getting a strong 1/2 buzz for about 30 baht per. doesn't really make making my own worth while. Search clue: look for Madeleines

Cannabis isn't a stimulant, it's a hallucinogen. It's useful to know, for me, especially when it comes to feelings. I don't really give my feelings all that much shrift when I'm using cannabis, because I know their origins are suspect.

Your question is possibly more ambiguous than you may realize. When it comes to massage shops/parlors here in bkk, there are at least two main categories, with some sub-categories as well. The main distinction is between places with a legitimate massage practice, where some types of sex may also/likely will also be available, and places that are actually sex spots posing as massage. The first type are everywhere in Thailand, literally. In some parts of town, like Sukhumvit, between soi 4 and soi 24, there is a much higher density, the women tend to be much more sexually oriented in their approach, and usually a bit more attractive and available. But, in most residential parts of the city as well, such as Sathorn, where I live, the massage shops are much more dual purpose. Many come just for a massage. But, you can always choose a massage lady who you find attractive, and usually, if your "interest" is apparent, they will offer you one or more options to resolve your situation. As to the massage places that are intended for sex, there are soapy massage places, which can be easily searched for, and just sex massage places. If you're looking for these women, Suk Soi 22 and 24 are the best I know in BKK. There are a lot of shops, the girls are not at all shy, you can ask for whatever you want, and, assuming it's a reasonable request, you can find a masseuse who's up for the job at the right price. As to the details, google is your friend. good luck

So, for quite a while, I've been buying this coffee online from a company in Chiang Rai. It's a much lighter blend of aribica beans than you can find on most shelves here in BKK. I swear, I'm not shilling for these guys. You can google them if you want... The thing is, recently, like maybe 3 of the past 6 or 7 orders, they've messed up and sent an incorrect amount, or had to be followed up on to get me my coffee. (like I said, not shilling for these guys, they just have the best, most reasonably price local coffee to my taste). So, I'm wondering if anyone knows of similar online roasters/vendors here in Thailand. I'd like to have a fallback, should these guys be slowing failing or something (not my wish at all, they've been responsive and apologetic each time I've had to contact them. I wish them well, and... I need the coffee, lol) Most of the locally grown coffee I've tasted really doesn't suit my taste... dark, oily.. not my thing

It's not going to happen, imo.. For any of us who lived through the covid time, I can't imagine the Thai financial culture, let alone the government, supporting any steps back on the decriminilization. For one thing, it's another tourism engine. At a time when tourism is just starting to achive profitable levels, why would they do anything else to prove themselves unreliable as a destination (remember all the various fits and starts with reopening). Additionally, Thailand isn't thrilled with the current demographic of their tourist population (even excluding the chinese absence), and wants to attact a higher (no pun intended) percentage of Euro and North American visitors. So, all of this indicates that the tourism alone would be enough to prevent any flip flopping on the current status. They might tweak it, as they did with "flowers", but the net effect will likely be minimal. Another strong argument is the economic one. This industry is finally giving the government some influence on the farm population, which is historically very red shirted. Combined with the increased agricultural revenue is the economic impact of many small business wholesalers, importer and retailers. The only economic force lined up agains the status quo is the alcohol industry, and the police (they miss the old black market and the under the table revenue it represents. So, the government would have to be very short sighted to throw a bunch of vendors, growers and importers back into limbo just to appease the beer companies and the cops. In the end, I predict some posturing (gotta protect the kids), some zone/classification noise, which will be similar to the approach to prostitution/sex work here, and otherwise a blind eye. Look for gambling next,., my guess 3-5 years

In my experience, people who have this reaction tend to continue to have it, unless their non-smoking circumstances change. By which I mean, if you end up sorting out the basis for the paranoia, then you probably won't experience it at the same level, or at all, when you're consuming ganja. For example, I had a lot of fears when I was younger, which, ironically, I treated by being more or less wasted all the time. After I got sober in '98, I went through a bunch of stuff that resulted in me sorting out those fears. So, now I never have that reaction anymore. My guess is that you could do the same with the paranoia. For me, once I really understand a feeling, and have addressed the underlying causes, I can choose not to empower that feeling anymore, and it gradually diminishes to a point of irrelevance. Anyway, just my experience.

for Lazada, or Food Panda, or other regional services, I just type "lazada thailand", and that works.
