  1. Hi,

I'm planning on renting a car for a few days while I'm on my trip. What are the best options insurance-wise?

Are all the renting operators' extended insurance policies the same?

Should I insure the vehicle with a third party company?

What do I need to look out for?

I'm a careful driver, but I wish to eliminate the head ache of dealing with damages to the vehicle or to a third party.

  2. Sticky waterfalls (bua tong) 50Km up the 1001 from CM.

take your shoes off and walk up the waterfalls, truly amazing.

    Indeed a wonderful place.

To the OP, Opkhan national park is another nice place, with lots of water and a walking trail along cliffs. This place is relatively close to the city, on the south-west side.

  3. Hi,

There is that ลูกทุ่ง song I keep hearing but I've never manage to find it online (Google).

I'm not that good in Thai, so these are the only words I managed to understand:

    ได้ยินได้ไหม มานี่ใจดี มองตา จำได้หรือเปล่า

Maybe you can pinpoint me to a good website where I can look for songs by their lyrics.

    Thanks thumbsup.gif

  4. Hi,

I'm an Israeli with lots of experience in the capital markets, securities settlements, financial systems and more. I'm also a computer savvy and have experience with VBA.

I can read and write basic Thai. Speaking, though, is (yet) not so easy for me.

I'm very motivated, and wish to work almost anywhere in Thailand.

If you think my skills can be valuable to you, PM me and I can provide you with my CV.

I'm coming to Thailand quite often, so it's not a problem to arrange a meeting.

    Cheers

  5. By the sounds she made, it looks to me like it's her side (primary?) job... being a cam girl or something.

She even made fun of him in front of her friend there blink.png .

I wonder if the guy on the other side knew that everyone was watching.

  6. Dear LiorW.

I read you post and have some comments as follows.

."So now we are forced to stare at the screens, even while we wait for the trains.".

I have never been forced to use the BTS, let alone stare at the screens.

"Or are they there just as an excuse to the commercials' screens (because standing on the platform for 5 min without doing nothing is a waste of a commercial-time)?".

I think I understand the commercialism aspect. Again, I've never been forced to watch them.

"I found them really hard to avoid. They were 2-3 meters from me and 1 meter apart from each other. This is sickening.".

It is unfortunate that you are sick from such a mundane piece of electronics. I avoid them all the time by not looking, by reading or putting headphones on and standing behind a pillar or sign. Meditation is an option which serves me well.

"Can we expect to be attacked by more in the near future?".

I don't know if "attacked" is a word I would use. I've never seen them as an adversary or potential attacker.

Twenty years ago, there was no BTS or MRT. People complained about gridlock, smog, heat, congestion and overcrowding. I actually find the BTS and MRT quite pleasant compared to the alternative.

The world doesnt revolve around me and while I respect the right of others to complain, comment or criticize, I prefer the kinder, gentler approach. For me that is Live and Let Live.

Benmart, I'm sorry, but you missed my point.

I didn't say I'm forced to use the BTS, but rather forced to stare at the screens.

So you avoid them by hiding behind a pillar or sign, meditation (laying on the ground with your face down too?)

Is that really Live and Let Live?

Next, the trees on the streets will be covered by those screens, and will lit up the night as if it was the middle of the day (I'm sure to cover some expances). Will that be Live and Let Live?

I'm exaggerating just to try and picture the trend.

And I'm sure all the share holders are happy. I'm a capitalistic myself.

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

What's wrong with commercials on the BTS? Better than looking at graffiti or the dirt on the London Underground. Strange, but very "farang" thing to moan about.

What is wrong with complaining about it?

You pay to use the BTS to get from A to B. Why do you have to accept being accosted by advertising on your journey?

Maybe the additional revenues from advertisers helps keeps your fares lower? BTS is probably already subsidized without the ads.

Yes, BTS is already subsidized, but that many flashing screens popping out at once, in I don't know how many more stations, is a bit ridiculous.

Should the fares have been risen that much? whistling.gif

Oh, and there were already flashing screens inside the trains... (I think with sound too)

  8. So now we are forced to stare at the screens, even while we wait for the trains.

I've just been around Victory Monument. As far as I know, they weren't there up until few months ago.

What are even the automatic gates there for? Where there too many people, that fell accidentally to the rails?

Or are they there just as an excuse to the commercials' screens (because standing on the platform for 5 min without doing nothing is a waste of a commercial-time)?

I found them really hard to avoid. They were 2-3 meters from me and 1 meter apart from each other. This is sickening.

I have no problem with the high altitude screens, on the buildings, because when I'm walking on the streets I don't have to look up to the screens. Even in the MRT stations, they are a bit aviated above the gates.

I could look the other way, but still...

Do they exist in all the BTS stations?

Can we expect to be attacked by more in the near future?

  9. Try this place: Diamond Place at Chaengwattana 26. Located behind Central Chaengwatta. Very convenient for daily grocery. The last time I asked they had daily for 600Bht per night.
Tel: 081 618 7894.  Search in facebook for "DiamondPlaceChaegwattana", with the mispelling of Chaengwattana.

    Thanks for that recommandation, fire69water.
This one was a great place. It is 800 Baht now. There were few bugs in my room, though, but I didn't make an issue out of it since I was there for few days.
    I will come back there.
  10. The club at Hilton, as someone has already suggested. If you like live Thai music, your options are quite a lot. Luknam pub is very good (up the hill a bit), they have a professional band there. You can also go to Hi4, which I think is a club, I'm not sure, never been there, but I heard from a local it's very good. You can look it up in Facebook.

Sent from my G2S using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
  11. The VM-Pattaya vans I've used leave from an alleyway just under the BTS platform, not from the roundabout which seems to be the focus of the new rules.

    so this was my question

There is one group that leave from the Century drive way and you buy your ticket on the steps leaning inside

and the 2nd on is in a private ally way into a parking area

are these having to move or are they okay to stay

This is a bit off topic, but note that the group, in the Century drive way, charges extra ticket per suitcase, whereas the other one doesn't.
