9. False plate number is wrong > False license plate
13. Car modification which generates excessive noise is wrong > Noisy modified exhaust pipe

saw the new revo joining traffic from a side road. wow, that bonnet is quite long
reminded me of this brand animal:
-
been driving here on and off for 6 years and I can say that at least in Bangkok, drivers are more polite and respect the rules.
I see less people using the emergency lane to pass everyone.
more and more cars use the rightmost lane correctly, only for overtaking.
cars actually stop to let people across!
maybe not all is lost
That's strange, cos most drivers with BKK plates visiting Chiang Mai drive like complete a-holes, with "I own the road" attitudes
The same in Korat...Watch out for the BKK drivers, they are crazy.
raffo77, what medication are you on?
the strongest!

whatever, details are in the news. just trying to help.

on a side note, please remember to write all this down on the car registration. in the event of an accident a modified car is at fault regardless
"..in the event of an accident a modified car is at fault regardless"
Nonsense.
please follow the news. starting now with bikes. any mods = forced to new revision after taking off mods = bike not legal to ride.
next up cars/trucks.
collision with illegal car = illegal car at fault regardless (should not be on the road at all)
clear?

I saw a test car driving and had to look twice to confirm it was the new one.
Followed it to the dealer and checked the interior and that has been sort of spiced up with many of the features that are standard in sedans now.
Didn't drive it yet, but also don't expect a spectacular experience there.
It's more like a touch up of the VIgo than that it's worth to be called a new model.
But as I'm inching up to 300,000 km of trouble free driving in my current Vigo it would be a serious candidate for the replacement.
the new stitching on the door panels is a punch in the eye, considering that it is stamped in the plastic and not woven in the vinyl ...

No its not bad, its a workhose to most Thais and they will buy them as required. Toyota near me are promoting a new saloon ,not the truck. Im amazed the nice new Mazda Car hasnt dented Honda or Toyo sales.Funny old Game.
expensive workhorse

never had luck with batteries. always lasted less than 2 years...
yes, lifting the bonnet helps both the battery and plastic parts from heat damage
-
as for the battery life, that's about right.
what doesn't sound right is the cost of the replacement.

This is the link to the previous discussion:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/601420-subaru-xv/
having owned one for 6 months, this is my take on the XV:
1. handles like no other SUV and most cars out there. full time 4 wd helps (and the driver...)
2. cvt is boring, but manual mode is quite fun and snappy. even has engine brake.
3. power is more than adequate, its just 150 hp after all. again, manual mode helps.
4. interior is bland, I admit it. but then everything I need is included.
5. service has been good until now and all my questions have had a reasonable answer.
6. only other car I took in consideration was the CX-5, but at the same price I would have only the fwd version.

Cop gave us a ticket for being jacked up to high, never measured anything, and couldn't tell us what the law was, just charged 400 TB fine and we didn't pay it right there he was going to keep license. This is bullshit. Now I do have a 6 inch lift on a Vigo and Cooper 285/75/16 on it. It is in this months Off Road's magazines as dress out truck!
Been talking about the issue of car mods just last night.
Thai friends suggest that all mods be communicated to the insurance.
All mods that change the vehicle dynamics should also be entered in the blue book.
if there is an accident, the insurance guy can choose to discharge responsibility if mods are not in the blue book and let the police handle the issue.
this is from direct experience,
yes in Europe any mods not on the car registration results in mandatory car check up after having removed all extra parts, even emission related.
-
overheard a farmer, a noddle shop owner and a delivery guy talking about the revo.
they all said it was too expensive, uglier than the vigo and drove worse.
shocked hearing this from toyota's loyal customer base
Perhaps a little envy from noodle folk eh.....
yeap!

Sorry to hear about this. Must check mine (XV) to see if it has this dreaded pump...
-
this also includes mods to the braking system, suspension, chassis (reinforced bumpers), etc.

Had one since the end of last year. A little (DELETED) at the beginning about the price reduction, but calculator in hand, considering discounts, 0% financing and all, I come out nearly even.
Handling is excellent. Regardless of what reviews say, acceleration is not bad either. Can smoke the occasional coil sprung 2.2 tonne-pickup-frame SUV anytime ;-)Somebody here said that Subaru is reimbursing previous price buyers with the difference. Look in that. May be true...and you lucky.
yes, that would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath on Subaru's promises...

I agree engine swaps must be recorded in the blue book and the insurance company informed but I disagree with your last statment, sounds same style as 'farang is always at fault regardless' myth. Of course a nice first modification can be a dash cam to prove blame.
There are many BM's on here with modified car's including a really cool Mark 1 escort with a nissan turbo engine, I hope someone can reply with real world experance.
cheers
nope, not farang, anyone with a modded car and has not reported it on the book is using a car that is different from the one in the registration.
for example, if an LPG system is added, the registration must be updated.

Are you sure.. the website seems to imply full airbags!at least in XV's case, the 2 litre boxer is the same in all markets.
as for safety, we get 3 airbags (front and knee for the driver). in other countries at least 7 (front, side, curtain and knee for the driver)
http://motorimage.net/TH/showroom/XV/MY12/?pg=safety
The air bags should not be full until deployed.hopefully never!

Proton Preve CFE experiences anyone?
in Thailand Motor Discussion

have a colleague with a Preve CFE. 2 years and still not fallen apart.
Proton dealership near the office is multi brand and also has Chevrolet.
Don't know about the discount, but isn't Ford also doing the same?
Got a niche market car myself, so hopefully we ALL get serviced.
