  1. Hi,

I arrived in Koh Samui with a 3 entry 60 day non-working VISA.. so far I have used the 60 days up and extended it another 30 at Nathon immigration here in Koh Samui.. I need to extend it again quickly but I'm unsure of my options...

A friend did one by land from Koh Samui (obviously had one small boat journey) and did it in 2 days at a cost of 4000 Baht, that gave him 2 months...

But he also recommended one that leaves Koh Samui at 6am and gets back at 7pm, which costs 1200 Baht.... but I'm unsure how long that gave him.

Could someone please explain what my options are, it would be really appreciated.

  2. I don't think there is a victim - everyone involved is OK and fine. He has to give one man some money for lost earnings as the back of his car needed fixing at that was all - that has been dealt with.

The problem is the hire car - if insurance doesn't pay then I imagine he will have to pay for that and the fine.. we're talking a lot of money.

I hear if someone cannot afford a fine then they go to jail...

so there are 2 victims, one is the thai guy and the other is the hire company. He may lose his deposit and the insurance for the hire car should pay for the damage to both vehicles, providing he hired from a reputable company.

The Thai guy is fine - the only problem is the hire car he crashed - which was hired from a reputable company - but of course if they're intoxicated insurance is void I would imagine. That's why he has a problem. I guess the only thing to do is wait! Drink driving really is such a bad offense and the bad thing is that it usually takes something bad to happen to someone before they actually realise they shouldn't be doing it..

  4. Thank you for the advice. In the UK you would expect a fine, a huge driving ban, some community service and alcohol related courses (for a first time offense - if it was a second they'd come down on you hard).

The owners of the other cars are actually OK - and the one Thai man who owns them has been extremely helpful.

Considering everything that's happened the VISA and work status isn't really an issue for him anymore, he is just glad everyone is OK, and as you can imagine doesn't want to go to jail here in Thailand. He just wants to get this sorted without jail.

  5. What happened to this guy?

My friend recently crashed his hire car into 2 other parked cars whilst intoxicated - there's absolutely no excuse at all but he was going 40km/h and hit a large hole in the tarmac caused by the floods somehow. He is asking me for advice and although this story is slightly different (he didn't hit anyone - thank god) my friend is in the same situation with the damage.

    Obviously they have his passport.

    Does anyone have any advice?

  6. Not following you as well as you seem to hope, sorry, don't care at all, married already, just putting the most ridiculous statements in perspective.

Could you keep on topic and add value rather than talking utter rubbish.

1740 BAHT is a great price!

  7. Why bother coming to Samui at these crazy bangkok air prices.Easier to go to Phuket. The average price from Samui to BKK or pattaya is now 4280 baht one way.Just this time last year i got a one way price of 1800 baht from pattaya.Very frustrating if you live here.Air asia are offering good prices to Bangkok from Surat but then you are adding an extra 4 hours to the journey.Bankok air really piss me off.

do you hear that birdman? :whistling:

I have free accomodation in Samui.. private pool etc.. just need to get there cheaply.

  8. I can't get over how expensive the alcohol is. I was hoping to come over and relax in pubs etc;; now I'm planning on spending a lot more time at my apartment!!!

£2.00 a pint of lager on HAPPY HOUR!! It's £2.00 a pint of lager in the UK!

Is there some Thai equivalent that is cheaper? I will drink anything!
