I see here replies that the ones that are responsible for fighting against corruption in Thailand are the same guys that buy votes from citizens each at 500 baht? What a country!

Insanity rules the country?

To me it always feels like Thailand is number one in shooting in its own feet. Every day, month etc there are either new rules or current ones change. Tourist don't like that. Nor do many tourist like the dual pricing system. It is understandable from Thailands perspective but not if you are a tourist. The hospitals act the same way If you are a foreigner apparently they can rip you off. I haven't seen that or any other behaviour in my own country when Thai people are the "foreigners". And if you visit my country for permanent resisdence and If they get a visa they are allowed to work, they can buy properties, start their own business etc etc. There is no 90 days reporting. You get a visa for 5 years and can get the nationality within that periode. They can contribute to the country if you want to participate. No restrictions at all. They are welcome.

I have always been amazed that a thai can buy a car without a drivers license or insurance. I saw Thai driving a new car without even having insurance and or a license. If people don't have a license they should not be able to buy a car in their name. Driving without any insurance should not be possible. It is as simple as that.

They need to treat tourists like tourists and not grab every chance to put them with pictures in the news by every wrong step they make. They are bashing farangs all the time making it look like they do not want tourists.

Same story , new coat! As long as there is no real change nothing will happen and quality tourists will go elsewhere.

Unless you contract long Covid from it then you are a unlucky person! I have seen then from this variant and it is no fun for these people.

I sense more and more hatred against "tourists" in Thailand. They just want the money but not everything that comes with it. And i can understand that given how some of the tourists behave, but these of just 0,01% of the visitors. You can't blame the rest for that.

The air sucks even if there were no tourists. Its because of all the burning of (rice) fields and household garbage, cooking on fire and exhaust fumes. This has nothing todo with tourism.

Why are they expanding their airports if they can't handle the current volumes of tourists? They don't like the current numbers of tourists and how they behave. How do you think that will evolve if more of these will visit the country?

If a tourist says "Hello" to a Thai is he/she insulted? Then why when somebody says "Ni Hao"?

It depends on the intonation how they pronounce "Farang" and their mimics while doing so. It can be taken very offensive and discriminating. When somebody says Ni Hao... he/she probably does not know the propper way to say hello in Thai. I would not care about such if that happened to me if i was a Thai person. There are worse things to make a fuzz about. It looks like somebody has too much time and nothing todo. One just could have replied "We say Sawasdee khrap!". But they go from 0 - 100 in a split second and are insulted about "Ni Hao"? What a joke! Its not even worth this discussion.

Well many tourist bought already their tickets for upcoming summer vacation based on the current visa of 60 days. If they bought tickets extending the 30 days they would get in to trouble. Reducing the visa to 30 days should at least have a 1 year overlap. Because that is the period one can buy a ticket in advance. So deciding to bring it back on f.e. 1 may this year should start and apply on 30 april 2026. These JoJo policies are not good for Thailand this way. They should stop the borderruns and people overstaying and illegal working, not the tourist that are coming with good intentions.

Everyone has a cross below his belly, no Christian, Buddhist, Moslim or any religion is making a problem of that. If we would not have it the world would be a better place and less stupid things to worry about, right?

In the Netherlands the solution is simple. Go to the municipal office and ask for a "Extract from the Personal Records Database" . On that document the Social security number is given. They already have it they just don't want to provide it. I came across this by accident when the school required that document. I was amazed that the Social Security number was on it. But once i had it i could resolve the circular problem is was in.

Exactly. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Seen this before in the Netherlands where one could not get a health insurance without a social security number and the social security number was not provided when one did not have a permit to stay in the country and the permit to stay was not provided if one did not have a health insurance. A endless loop that could not be fixed unless one of the parties violated the rules.
