Foreigners Face New Hurdles in Opening Thai Bank Accounts
ThailandGuy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Exactly. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Seen this before in the Netherlands where one could not get a health insurance without a social security number and the social security number was not provided when one did not have a permit to stay in the country and the permit to stay was not provided if one did not have a health insurance. A endless loop that could not be fixed unless one of the parties violated the rules. -

A better way costs money which they don't have. So they cheapest way is burning the fields. Which they will keep on doing. -
Anutin Orders Stricter Measures to Curb Burning and Reduce PM 2.5
ThailandGuy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
when i am in Thailand the snot/mucus in my nose turns black within 24 hours after arriving. Their lungs must be black as can be. Do they really care about air quality? I guess it is a lot bla bla bla bla for the media and doing nothing in reality. -
Anutin Orders Stricter Measures to Curb Burning and Reduce PM 2.5

Maybe they really don't care? I always wonder how these bikes and cars can drive around. In my country they would have been set aside and not allowed to drive any further from that point on. -

Transgender Woman Assaulted by Foreigner on Pattaya Beach
ThailandGuy replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Lately AseanNow looks like it is only focussing on the "bad" farangs and all the fuzz they are creating. It feels like the hubble telescope is zoomed in on them. I wonder why they still want to expand the tourism industry with all that negativity about their visitors. I stopped reading more and more these kind of articles as it does not contribute anything to the positive view i like to keep about Thailand and their citizens. -
Foreign men attack Phuket taxi driver over fare dispute - video
ThailandGuy replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
This kind of news is never good for foreigners and for Thailand. We all know stories of taxi drivers scamming their customers and one bad apple infects the whole lot. But bringing news like that this way also does more harm than good. It feeds the ones that hate the foreigners and it feeds the ones that hate the way foreigners are ripped off. Neither will win this discussion. Is it not just a way to draw negative attention by the news media earning their money from additional advertisements? -

Thailand digital wallet handout falls short: Woman gets only 4,000
ThailandGuy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why are they surpised? If you have a debt at the bank of course they will first take care of the shortcoming and if something is left you will get the remaining part. that is how it works. Instead of being happy she now has less debt complaining about the missing 6000 baht? Bizar and weird. -
Thai customer complains about buffet restaurant staff service
ThailandGuy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
You are absolutely right.... But drawing attention to something this way that would have just disappeared into thin air when left as is.... Now he is the "owner of a restaurant that pursues people when posting a negative comment on social media about his business". That he is right in doing this will soon be forgotten and does not matter anymore. It is the negative message that stays in peoples memory. People in the long run will not remember what the woman complained about, but they will remember what the restaurant owner did. He better had accepted a public apologie and handle all in peace instead of going to court about some "missing income" which he never can proof. It is better to make the end result a positive than a negative one. I have seen similar examples happening elsewhere (not in Thailand). And it is always the owner off the business that draws the short straw because he is making the issue bigger than it actually is. Although he has every right in doing this. Sad it escalates this way. No winners here. -
