  1. Adminstrators/Mods, PLEASE, PLEASE fix the "Last 10 posts" in the "My Assistant" function. It's been almost 2 weeks now since it's been broken (showing only 1 word instead of a larger snippet of the post). Very frustrating to use as is!!!

    As is shouting.

  2. Just be yourself, a relationship isn't about your girlfreinds Mum, Dad or friends, it's about the two of you. If you have a strong enough bond then it doesn't matter.
Just need to get used to it. If your wife really loves you, you will be more important to her than the opinion of her family

You might want to study Thai culture a bit before making such statements.

That sounds like a good idea. :o

  3. Great forum ! I have scanned through the forums constantly and am still confused as to what visa i should apply for i have tried contacting the consulates in the UK but have had no replies,I wish to stay in Thailand for 1 year during my time i would like to be a monk for 3 months, Learn Thai, Do voluntary work and get married to a thai citizen, can i qualify for an O visa or is that only for people aged over 50 ? any help as to which visa is appropriate would be much appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

With a formal letter from the Abbott of your proposed Temple, you might stand a chance.

  4. Thanks

Is that all that is needed? Last time i had all sorts of documents, copies of certificates etc.. Also last time, i didn't have a police clearance cert., but still got m visa+WP. Where do I get such a certificate from?

It would be prudent to carry documents. The police clearance certificate has been required for the last couple of years and needs to be obtained in your homeland.

  5. Well i'm going for my Non Imm B for teaching next week and i was looking at the documents required on this website but it doesn't give you the specifics for teaching. Do you need copies of your qualifications etc? Do you need a medical certificate? Should they be signed by me? Is there a link anywhere to this information, cos i can't find it and the noisy kids playing counter strike next to me are putting me off. :o

    Any help is appreciated..

    Cheers

You'll need a letter of offer from the school ( on its letterhead ) together with a national police clearance certificate.

  6. Hi,

Name is Ernest, been on here a few times as a guest, but never signed up till now. Live in Chumphae, left the uk about 4 years ago now, lived in Turkey 3 years then decided to live in Thailand after my wife (Thai) kept complaining that she can't find anything to eat (to her liking) in Turkey.

    Ernest

Welcome to you Ernest. I agree with your wife ... that Turkish food is iffy.

  7. I agree. Most of the Thai employers look at the country of birth rather than the nationality. I had a good Aussie mate, who held 4 PHd degrees and was born in KL, but had lived in Australia for over 40 years, well, he got treated like shit because he looked as Chinese as you can despite actually being Australian.

    FOUR Ph.D's ??? :o

I know, i know............. I thought the same until he showed them all and gave me lots of advice on what the best option for me to study would be. He only has one Bachelors degree (BBA), but he has 2 masters (MBA plus a Master of Arts). 1 PHD was from the Uni of Western Australia, 1 was from the uni of California, and my apologies, but the other 2 were only honoury PHD's (but he holds them to be of equal value). One from a European Uni and one from a Japanese Uni. He is in his mid 40's, but like I said, he looks Chinese and finds it hard to get work.

Believe what you want Dr. Pat Pong................ at least he PHd is not in ping-pong ball shooting or lap dancing :D

What is your PHd in DR.?

    Political Science.
