I don't get it. 100 kg from weaning in three month. That means a total of four months. I have spoken with a former betagro seller. He said "it works even if it is not true, it is Thailand". But if you guys can do, you must make allot of money (I'm jealous
). Zero to 100 kg in 5 months is my target and its not easy to archive it over time. If we raise them to quick they get to fat and we loose money.

My wife has been and talked to purchasers of pigs. They told us that there is an unusual amount of pigs on the market because CP has begun to give unsuccessful boars with an injection of a "something" that removes bad taste and odor from the meat (before slaughter). That way they can sell more meat to the usual price. It talks a lot about this in the area where we live, and people are wondering if this is healthy. Is there anyone who knows more about this, or is this like so much else down here, just BS

Hi fellow farmers,
Quick update on current status. We made ok profit for two 100 piglet batches but last one went south because of the market. In practice we bought when expensive and sold when cheap. Now we are working to get standard farm status from DLD. It will give us more freedom to run the business.

What is "Standard farm status" and how to obtain it? What is the benefits from it?

What is current price in Surin?
We have been in contact with an old customer from Korat. He told us that there is alot of pigs out on the market and the price is down to 67 bath/kg. In the area where we live, we get 69 -70, but that can change very quick.

I've posted some new pictures of our farm on Facebook, for those of you who are interested in how it looks at our farm.
hi jompa i have tried to download youre autofarm but nothing happens is there another way i can get it
allso what is the cost of mixing 18% and 16% protien per 30k bag these days
thanks
We pay around 14.5 - 15 bath/kg for 18% protein feed. We use it for pigs in range of 30 kg up to 60 kg. For 60 to 80 kg, we use 16% food to a cost of around 12 - 12.5 bath/kg. We have test low quality feed indigence but with poor result.
You can bring down price with 1 - 2 bath if you use another formula based on rice, rice bran oil and 55% fish meal.
The price depends heavily on the raw materials you can find in the area you live. If you have a small farm, you can ask the local rice mills for Broken rice and rice bran and get the price down a lot.

We have been told that price will go down from next week because we enter a period where thai eat little pig meat. We try to sell but all our contact has lower there price already. Guys, what do you think? Will pig price go down? Or will it just be a balance bet-wine buyer and seller?

Yes, they are hybrid. We have 10 pure breed large white sows and 1 purebreed landrace boar. Rest are hybrid. We also have 3 duroc where one for sure is purebreed the other two is betagro. They should also be pure, but u never know with betagro.

Thx guys for helping.
I have read up on PCV2 . What I understand is that it will disappear over time. The strange is that they start get sick around 10 kg and when they reach 20 it is gone. Just a few past away. I could not find any vaccine either.
Question about breed
I'm not sure about these two. We only use breed from Denmark except 20% who is Betagro. Next year we will only have danish breed. Our customer use to pick danish breed first. I think that is because they are longer and have a better structure. One of our customer told us that danish pigs gives him more meat then the other breed (Betagro).

Have anyone encounter piglets with skin-problems like in the attachment? About 15 % of our piglet got skin problems (15 - 20 piglets/months). We have had this problem for about two months now and the good thing is that it is not increasing. Just a few of them die the rest recover before they reach 25 kg. Even if they recover it has a negative preformens impact as well as economics, so I need to find a cure.

I think the gate price is close to 80, at least up here in korat. Our sow provider that use to visit us a few time every month to check up on our sows, told us that our gate price is to low (76 bath). He had work for Betagro in the past so we told him to check for buyer. We have got 5 new potential customers this week. They all tell the same story. There is so little pigs on the market so the price is going up.
Government fixed price is not working. I guess it is same for piglets. Right now it's chaos on the market. Grab as much as you can before it's to l8

Don't forget to read all 3 articles. It is a very impotent connection between lactation length and number of born piglets.

Here is a link to a nice article in tree parts about piglets and weaning.
Article text:
If we had asked this question to veterinarians, specialized technicians and swine producers a few years ago, the immense majority would almost certainly have answered that the best age for weaning is at three weeks. However, there are continuous changes in swine production and its evolution questions this old belief with respect to the weaning age. In this article I will try to explain why in many production systems the weaning age is being put back to 28 days in order to achieve the objective of producing a minimum of 200 kg of weaned weight per productive sow and year. To achieve this objective a herd that weans at an average of three weeks (18 – 23 days) with an acceptable weight of 6.5 kg LW must wean 30.76 piglets/sow/year while the same herd weaning at 28 days (25 – 30 days) with a weight of 7.5 kg needs to wean 26.66 piglets/sow/year. For 27 – 30 days (in the case of weaning on more than one day per week) with 8.0 kg it is necessary to wean 25 piglets/sow/year.
Weaning is an enormous change for the piglet and a great change for the sow. First we are going to analyze the changes that the piglets undergo, then the changes that correspond to the reproductive sows, and to finish we will make an economic analysis.Milk is the ideal alimentation for lactating piglets, it represents an important contribution of essential nutrients for the growth of the piglets, it gives the piglets a certain immunity and stimulates their physiological development. If we compare milk with feed we can observe the following:
- Milk production reaches its maximum at 21 days and it remains high up to nearly 5 weeks of lactation. Weaning at 25 – 30 days does not take place when the sow already produces less milk, but when the piglets are suckling when the production continues being very high (8 – 10 kg per day).
In short: the piglet must learn to “look after itself”. The stress is an additional factor which makes it difficult for growth continuation and for the absorption of aliments during the first 3 – 5 days after weaning.
The separation from the sow is accompanied by characteristic and loud cries (grunts/calls) from the piglet that are produced immediately after weaning. The frequency and tone of these “calls” has been used as a method to evaluate the level of stress suffered by the piglet at weaning. The piglets that are colder and that feed more poorly cry more loudly and more frequently. The frequency of the cries is higher at the beginning of weaning, however, the piglets that wean at 3 weeks make more “calls” (3.6 c/m) than those weaned at 4 – 5 weeks (2.3 – 2.9 c/m).
All these arguments lead us to believe that with respect to the piglet it seems reasonable that weaning at an average of 28 days is better than at 21 days. First, the difference in weight in piglets weaned between 3 and 4 weeks is 0.5 – 0.9 kg per piglet in favour of those weaned at 28 days. The productive data of piglets weaned at 4 weeks are better for its future productive performance of posterior phases. This efficiency in the weaning phase (weaning – 20 kg LW) is expressed by an improved growth of 5 – 10%, improved transformation rate of 1 – 5%, and improved mortality rate of 20 – 60%. In the fattening period, in field tests of industrial production systems with many animals, we have seen that an improvement in weight at weaning of 0.5 kg leads to an improvement of 1.5 – 2.5 kg at the same age at the end of fattening when the slaughter weight is 100 kg LW. All this leads us to conclude that a suitable weaning weight for the optimum performance in the growing and fattening phases should be at an average minimum of 7.5 – 8.0 kg, with no more than 10% of the animals weighing less than 6 kg LW. This objective is achievable by weaning at 28 days and is very difficult if weaning is at 21 days.-

I try to keep them to 28 days, but if I need the cage, i weaned them at 21-24 days. 28 days and an average of 7 kg at weaning, is a good target. But the result depends of many thing like litter size, sow parity, quality of milk. If I have reach my target mating(insemination) for the period, and my sows look strong and healthy, then i postpone weaning until i start mating again.

One of our sows have a miscarriage two weeks early. All piglets were dead and shortly after birth, dies sow. Is there anyone who has experienced something similar?

What is the price in your area and where are you located? Government controlled price is 2300. I have not c any detail prices over different regions, but if anyone have a link, post it.

Current price is 2300 for 16 Kg piglet. And then + 74 bath for every more kg. We have no problem to sell at that price so I don't think you paid an overprice. I would love to sell to you in the future but at the moment we only produce around 140 per months and that's what we need to fill our own barns.
About feed. How much are you paying for premium feed. I know I sound repetitive but investing in a feed mixer, is the best investment you can make. Check attachment and compare with your supplier. You find protein and price information at the bottom of the page. If you can make your food two bath cheaper than commercial feed and you need around 220 kg feed, then you have increase your margin with more than 400 bath/head. In your case with 100 pigs, 40000 bath.
If you don't need antibiotics in feed then you can make it one bath cheaper/kg. You can also make it much cheaper if you use vegetable oil instead of full fat soy. Use 55% fish-meal instead of 70% and so on.
