I flew back into the country a few weeks ago on a re-entry permit after visiting Europe for 2 weeks.
I have a proper ED Visa from a Thai public university (I'm spending about 300,000/year on tuition).
The guy at the passport line at the airport told me I must be working and didn't want to let me in and sent me to his supervisor.
They get a little nutty sometimes.
I think the issue basically comes down to money.
You should be able to show your bank account, and if you have enough to support yourself, you can stay on a 1 year visa.
If you have about 2200 baht to your name and no work permit, you can't.
Age is irrelevant.
Problem solved.

there's a lot of confusion about visas because they're very confusing
thanks. glad to get some confirmation.

I'm on a one year non-b visa
I last reported my 90 days on January 18, and I am due again April 18
However, I am leaving the country on April 7 and returning April 22.
Do I need to do a 90 day report?
I am intending to get a re-entry stamp.
When I return to the country April 22 on the re-entry stamp, do I not need to report again until 90 days from April 22?
edit: sorry, wrong forum. could a moderator move it?

She just made this thread to make her ex-boyfriend jealous.
Not sure why people are taking it for anything other than that.
To make her ex boyfriend jealous, Is that you?

Do not go to Sunrise Tacos.
They're doing some kind of scam where they put a menu out saying you get mashed potatoes, stuffing, bread, etc. with your meat, and then when you order they say you only get to pick one side.
I complained that they didn't give me any stuffing as advertised, and after discussing with the manager for a minute, she went back to the chef and brought back a bowl of soggy croutons. I said that isn't stuffing, and she went back to the kitchen again and came back and said "It's Mexican stuffing."
I'm pretty sure they don't have Thanksgiving in Mexico.
The customer who came in after me was having problems too.
The owner was sitting in the store and didn't seem to care.
Not sure what their problem is this year. I went in years past and it was fine.

I have an ED visa already, but I'm changing from one school to another
I was told I don't need to leave the country and get a new one, but my old school has to give me a letter cancelling my visa with them, and then I can get an extension with the new school
What exactly is required for the cancellation letter?
-
I've done extensions of stay before at Chaeng Watthana and they've never asked for it
-
Is this necessary to complete for a Non-B Education Visa?
My school gave it to me, but I've never heard of it before, and my last school (different) didn't bother with it, and I didn't have a problem with my visa
I couldn't even find much information about it on google, except a few mentions from 2006 and 2007
-
Thinking of moving/purchasing there
Well managed?
Problems with bugs or anything else?
Thanks for any opinions

it's my 3rd extension
for the 2nd one, I thought I didnt need to do a TM7 again, but they made me do one
-
Which form do I need for this? The TM47 or the TM7 or both?
-
OK. I thought there was a fee for the reporting. But if not, even better.
-
I don't need to bring any supporting documents right?
Only my passport and TM47 and 2,000 baht?
-
swate thanks bro

Can this only be done within 7 days of the expiration?
I'm pretty sure when I got my 1 year extension, the lady told me I could come within 30 days or something like that
But everything I'm reading online says 7 days
My date is Feb 14 and I was going to go today
-
Yeah I think I'll probably have to get a new non-B visa without the writing on it and then get a work permit after.
The lady seems pretty convinced that the school can cancel my visa though, even though I didn't get the extension.
-
When I got the non-B they wrote on the visa the name of the school it was for.
Now I want to work at a different school. So I'm assuming it would be a problem to go to immigration with paperwork for the new school and a non-b visa with another school's name on it.
But is it even possible for a school to cancel a non-B visa on the initial 90 days? I thought they can only cancel the work permit.

Is it possible for the school to cancel the non-B visa?
My new employer wants me to get the old non-b visa cancelled, get a 7 day extension, and then apply for a work permit for a year. Doesn't sound right to me.
-
Good to know. Thank you.
-
I entered Thailand on a non-B visa valid for the initial 90 days, based on impending employment.
Now there's a problem with the company and I may not get a work permit.
I understand I can't get the 1 year renewal without a work permit, but can I stay the full initial 90 days, or do I need to leave immediately?
-
Some of the less reputable ones dont pay the last month if you already gave your scores to the school. They can always hire some new teachers fresh off the plane.
Holding onto your final scores and reports is the only leverage you have, because the schools wont be too happy if they dont get them.

My last company did something similar. I never saw the money.

Can someone explain to me how to milk the country as a foreigner?
It sounds like a lot of people must be doing it.
But I've been here a few years and haven't seen any udders.
If you know where they're located, PM me.
