  1. His ex-wife is in a safe house in BKK ????????

    What about her jailtime ?

    Is it allready forgotten?

I saw her "entre' " on the thai news, she was treated as a queen !

Everyone bowing as slaves (also police and military)

    Is this normal? :)

Nothing is normal here. 30 years ago Taksin was a police man. Over a period of 30 years he earned approx. 7 Mill THB per day. Not sure when he started in politics.

    Calculation:

    THB 76 Billion is THB 76 000 000 000

    divided by 30 years =

    THB 2 533 333 333 per year=

    THB 211 111 111 per month =

    THB 7 037 037 per day

Remember he started Shin Corp. Do you hate all people who became wealthy. Do you feel the same animus for Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. What about Sam Walton? Do you hate him also?

Get over it man! If you have the ambition and drive of those people you wouldn't feel so inferior.

How did he make Shin Corp. work so well??? Do you know details? There is not hate in my post, I just said "nothing is normal here" and made a simple calculation.

  4. I know we all have our rants and complaints ( I'm one of the worst offenders).

Yet when stories like this come to light, it makes one sit back and take stock of the things we actually have, not just the things that we would like to have.

These poor people are being exploited in the most terrible way, their only crime is to be born poor.

I for one feel very fortunate at this moment, to be sitting in my A/C office having the time to surf the web whilst getting paid.

For many of the worlds population, the very things we take for granted are only dreams that will remain dreams forever.

Stories like this are very disturbing.

    RIP to all.

well it is going to be difficult to blame thais here. it seems as where there is prosperity and a country in close proximity to it, that is not.......................

the hosing country becomes a pressure relief valve when economic times are bad,

it is sad for all involved.

believe in the lord.................but tie up your horse.

Why do you say it is difficult to blame thais? It is obvious, the THAI person (owner of the container) , who received the money in full amount (burmese survivior mentioned THB 5000 per persom- THAI "receiver of the money" mentioned THB 5000 ) This means that he had to pay "whoever" with the money he had received from the burmese.

Looking forward to your answer to my question

  5. Update:

    RANONG TRAGEDY

    Owner of ill-fated truck arrested

RANONG: -- Police arrested the owner of the cold storage truck which was used to smuggle 121 Burmese, 54 of whom died from suffocation just two hours into their journey that started in Ranong province on late Wednesday.

Damrong Pussadee was arrested Thursday morning at his residence that doubled as a used-cars outlet in Ranong's Muang district.

Damrong admitted that the truck belonged to him and identified Suchon Boonblog as the driver of the ill-fated truck. Suchon fled when he saw the victims in the back of his truck.

It was not clear if Damrong admit to any wrong doing.

A senior police officer said that Damrong was just a middle man behind the human smuggling ring linked to the tragic incident late Wednesday.

He were allegedly paid Bt5,000 per each Burmese, which would mean that he would be receiving Bt500,000 per route.

    --The Nation 2008-04-10

How is it possible to be just a middleman and receive the full amount per person he had to smuggle?

If he received the full amount per burmese, he was the person to distribute to "whoever" was involved.

I simply cannot understand, why the police does not come to this conclusion.

  6. are there any videos out there with peoples really requesting this dongles in 7/11 ?? LOL

sorry no video, but real time report

I just was at 7/11 when someone asked for a dongle and heared the cashier saying : Phuket no dongle, only in Bangkok (I guess this was the easiest way for her to avoid telling him that she does not know what it is)

I told her what it is and she said "joke no good, all day people comming and ask for dongle

  7. Shame people don't learn - you have problems that might resort to violence just walk away.

This is exactly what he might have tried to do. He is not the first one, who did not make it

Yeah but doesnt give him the right to hit her , nor does he deserve to die

Who says he hit her? She said so, he cannot say anything anymore to defend himself. Easy to get wounds in a fight, he must have defended himself and wounded her. Anyway, it looks like she is much stronger than he was.

Of course he did not deserve to die.

  8. Well I suppose life goes on. The last thing locals will want now is for tourists to stay away.

  9. Can anyone tell me the requirements for getting a workpermit as a consultant in Thailand.

I have experience in any travel related business (which means, I know the need of customers and agents, both sides (which I can proove with national and international references)

Further skills are webpromotion, advertising, set up and translate text for websites, research on "whatever company" ect., not only in travel related businesses.

I speak 4 european languages fluently and write business letters in 3 languages .

I had never a problem to get a job with work permit in Thailand, but in every job I ended up doing all above mentioned jobs in the company ( as it was easier and faster to give the work to me, salary did not change for more skills)

I am thinking now to be a consultant in order to use my skills. I have already got some information, but I would appreciate the advise of someone who has gone through the process of getting a work permit as a consultant

    I really appreciate your help

    thanks in advance

  10. They're not going to have their own country.....

Why not let them? Will Malaysia take them? What's the cost/benefit of moving the Thai/Malay border a little further north? Just a thought... :o

I have been living in Malaysia. They used to spend their "weekends" in Thailand ,just acorss the border. Where would they go then if the border would be moved just a little further north? They would have a long way and would not be happy wth this. Just a thought from my side

  11. Take the visa run bus. One person carries 10,000 Baht. When in line at the immigration post the person who is first in line passes the money to the person behind them and so on. How you guys can carry on so much about 10,000 Baht is a miracle. When I go to the ATM every 3 or 4 months I pull out 80,000, the only problem I have is that I have to do 4 consecutive transactions, thank goodness for the patience of the Thais who are queued behind me. And no I have never had a problem four years in LOS.

This is a great idea . I will suggest it to the companies who are running the visa service. The driver has to carry the cash and can pass it one by one to the passengers at the border.

    Congratulations , are you Thai??

  12. 10,000 baht in Thailand is the same as 2 month's wages. The equivalent of this in America is having $10,000 in your pocket, plus change. 8 people per bus is almost $100,000, just for the taking. 20 or 30 buses a day...maybe half a million in cash, no armed guards, just "normal" people. Crossing in and out of Mexico evry day. Day after day.

Point made, this should put things in perspective.

How can this put things in perspective? You all can talk as much as you want about the 10,000 baht being the "equivalent of" $10,000 and $100,000 in a group BUT the whole point is that it isn't $10,000/£100,000 is it! It is merely $250/$2,500 in all. What is this if you are wanting to live in a country that is not yours as a tourist? If you dont have the money go home and earn some and then come back. Failing that, I suppose you all could rob some tourists with money now, just wait at the border crossings and join the Thai robbers that you all are so worried about!

    Falcon

Falcon, you still don't get the point.

Example: Bus with logo "visa run" on the way from Phuket to Ranong. Many hours to drive . There are a lot of rural areas you have to pass. Why should anyone with the intention to rob wait until you reach the border. The bus logo indicates already that everybody in it has the cash they want.

  13. Thanks for this clarifiation ,George. Although it is slightly disconcerting to be wandering around with 10,000 bht on my person whilst going, and coming back, from the usual border crossings.

As I know there are mini buses wth their logos "visa run" ,going to borders with up to eight person .This means 80.000 Bht per Minibus, a good target for robbers. It does not have to happen at the border, it can happen on the way form/to border. I feel this is very dangerous.

Come on guys, this is rediculous! You all want to stay here in Thailand but dont want (or have maybe) to walk around with 10,000 baht?? ######, you all talk like this is $10,000. Look, this is ONLY $250 If you wer ein your own countries, would you not have this amount in your pocket, especially if you were going out of the country for some reason. Lets get this in to perspective, we all choose to live here and we all must have money to stay, this is the same all over the world. If we dont have money in our pockets we starve, have no where to live, rely on others for everything or die, this is the plain and simple truth of the matter.

Let me ask you guys this, If a Thai went to your country, they get to the immigration post and, after giving their passport, they are asked how long they are staying in the country and for the reason that they are travelling to the country (this is mainly the question asked when entering the US). If they then ask the Thai, "ok, you are requesting leave to enter the country for a period of 30 days, how much money do you have to support yourself"? Do you think that $250 is sufficient for them to show the immigration officer for this period of time? that is a definite NO!!

Every country you enter you must have money to support yourself, the same way anyone and everyoine has to have money to support themselves in a foreign country. In my opinion, if you guys dont have $250 in your pockets then you should stay in your own countries and not want to stay in any one elses country.

I for one make sure that both I and my (Thai) Wife have at least this amount of money in our pockets at all times, not for immigration reasons, just for common sense. What if you want to buy something? Do you not have to go out of the house with the money in your pockets?

Honestly, you guys want everything given to you on a plate and want to go to other countries and for them to conform to your own wishes and likes/dislikes.

Some of you are just Unbelievable!!!

I think you missed the point.

It is not about how much money you carry with you in cash or how much you can afford to carry with you. It is about how many people know about it. A minibus full of visa runners is a perfect target on the way from/to border anywhere Your money will be with you all the way and everybody knows it. Robbers will carefully choose the right area to get into action.
