  1. Every single Thai I know supports this man - I hope in the weeks and months ahead, he shows everyone a path towards peace, reconciliation and unity.

Same here and yes I hope he does.

Now thats really funny,, I have not met a single Thai who DOES support him :)

You seem to hang out in the same bar every day and night. Change the bar

  2. PM is on all channels now.... Dunno what he is saying. Anyone?

He is pleading w/Red Shirt Mob to allow/send women and children home because what has been started will not end and the reds must disperse.

this should have happened already long ago, they should not have been brought in the first place, although I think that some women in Thailand have made history being stronger than men (Two Heroines Monument in Phuket)

Amazed at the number of posters on this forum who seem to think women are equivalent to children.

    "Go home!" "Yes dear".

    read before you write

  4. Was just about to go take a shower to the outside toilet, when I noticed a lot of sharp pieces on the floor. Well, looking around it wasn't hard to spot the culprit.

This shot came from the southern side, through the concrete wall and tiling and still cracked the tiles on the other side's wall.

The height comparison of the holes is near identical, and being on 5th floor that would mean that it was shot from a fair distance, not just under the house.

FYI: the red stage is south, soldiers are under the house and towards the north, so there's really not much secret as to which side of the conflict this came from.

EDIT: Order of photos: from inside, wall that was hit; opposite wall; from outside; bullet

Send it to the press and let them figure out

  5. sweet - way to align yourselves with a group using elderly woman and children as human shields. Hey shouldn't the "leaders" of your side be turning themselves in today?

Human shields are people that are neutral civilians and used by terrorists (i mean real terrorists) for protection .

Those women and elderly are not neutral , they are protesting on their own free will .

Nobody force them . This is a popular protest by people , and people do not only include

    male 19-25 years old

    Please cut the BS

they are there for money, if it was not for the promise of a pay day they would be back at home doing nothing.

Oh yes sure . :):D . They are risking their lives for 500 bahts per day .

    Any other "smart" suggestion ?

    no

  7. Ten killed in Thailand as police join Red Shirt protest

Apologies if this has already been posted.

According to the Daily Telegraph, police have joined the reds and have been fighting the army. They also emphasis that many soldiers are also sympathetic to the reds and have behaved as such.

    It all sounds very ominous.

    Full story:

    here

Why would thai police change to the red camp? Any suggestions?

  8. Thaksin is as washed up as Richard Nixon.

The man should learn to exit gracefully.

He is neither needed nor wanted. The cult of Thaksin is dead.

Wonder what the law firm he hired can councel on the situation in Thailand. Anybody heared anything?

    http://blog.taragana.com/pr/former-prime-m...m-peroff-17061/

    From above link:

" LONDON, May 3, 2010 - Today Amsterdam & Peroff announce that they have been appointed counsel

to the former Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra, to assist in the

current contentious struggle for the restoration of democracy and rule of law

    in the Southeast Asian nation"

  9. There is very little in the international press. They don't care about it.

What they do have is usually along the lines of "the reds are unhappy because Abhisit came to power through a parliamentary vote". Democracy - the reds don't understand that.

Internal strife weakens Thailand, so what you are suggesting is surrender to them? I suppose you are suggesting that the south should be handed over to Malaysia because that's what a few people down there want?

And then the sealer - because I have a different opinion to the reds, I am in danger? Yay for RED DEMOCRACY.

The first story on Yahoo news is Thailand.

Yes. They are reporting on the violence. International news sources love violence.

They do have the standard statement - "They claim his coalition government came to power through manipulation of the courts and the backing of the powerful military."

Am I supposed to get my knowledge of the Thai situation from these international news sources?

BBC did not show the video with evidence of protesters attacking thai soldiers, CNN mentioned it. Why.?

The law firm defending Thaksin is based in London. Does this mean anything?

  10. Why can not we see armored vehicles yet....I think the army should really hit these terrorists hard now, enough is enough

How many dead bodies will give u an erection....

Mate, this place is crawling with blood hungry westerners who cant seem to get enough.

Abhisit should listen to the US, UN, and Thaksin and return to the negotiation table.

Why would Abisith sit there alone during these difficult times??????????

  11. From The Nation

Weng calls on reporters to return to Rajprasong

Weng Tojirakarn Saturday morning called on reporters to return to cover the demonstration at Rajprasong.

He said no reporters turned up at the rally stage apparently because their editorials did not allow them to cover the demonstration.

Weng said red-shirt guards would provide protection to reporters.

The no-show of reporters indicated that troops were about to suppress protesters at Rajprasong, weng said.

Please come and film us! Our human shield of women and children is far less effective without cameras present. We guarantee you protection (just as we did for Seh Daeng).

It might be possible that the reds behave differently in their camp, whenever a journalist is near. They might be ordered to hide the guns and only use them when there is no journalist to cover their actions. Just a thought

Sadly they are under the false impression that not only people care what they have to say but at this point really care much about their health, rights or well being. But I guess this is what happens when for two months you show you don't care about these same things when it comes to others.

  12. We can speculate on a lot of things:

1- The snipers are circulating freely everywhere amidst Army, amidst Red Shirts. Sae Deng has been shot by an army sniper infiltrated in the Red fortress? So, the 10th April which snipers were shooting?

2- Sae Deng has gotten information and maybe nobody want he talks?

3- How the interview and the location of the interview has been unveiled/ Mobile phone interception? Trap organised by a Mastermind? In such a case what is the role of the Journalist? trapped or playing a game?

4- Sae Deng is now an Hero for the Red Shirts. How this is going to be utilised? Is is a cooling or a warming element?

    A lot of questions tonight

Yes correct but none of them should be answered by a farang...This thread is hysterical.

Im sure not one red shirt or army personal are even thinking about farangs tonight :)

Stick to your own politics you are only a farang after all.

paying tax in Thailand and not retired yet - is this enough explanation for you????????

Maybe if you let farang make a few decisions for you

the country would be in a better state than it is now

Doesn't seem like Thais are doing a very good on either

    side of this dispute

I am a white guy i just find it hillarious that farang think they know best..Especially thaivisa inspector clueso's.

You cant vote so why get involved?

  13. AFP: Thailand rejected as member of UN Human Rights Council: http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/artic...R3oQ6ZSXmCHYP-w

May be this is why they decided against cutting off water supplies and food to the protesters?

It would indeed contravene basic Human Rights.

This news must be a great shock to the PM?????

that was maybe a 4 year old link. It can't be accessed anymore. Decision will be tomorrow if Thailand passes the requirements or not.

Sorry the I copied the link wrong

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/artic...R3oQ6ZSXmCHYP-w

why should thailand not be eligible, because of the killing of 2500 people during the war of drugs???

  14. Hey there is no humour here today where is Che, RedParrot, Redsunset and others maybe they are busy planning the next strategy with their bedfellows quite refreshing not to have their drivel all over the place

Che wakes up late, usually about 8:00 am, Dubai time.

right, just check how many red supporters signed up with thaivisa after 10.04.10

  15. One has to wonder how ignorant the red followers are to follow leaders so lacking in basic common sense as well as the laws of Thailand as well as the constitution.

These red leaders are truly buffoons whose speeches, views, constant contradictions, lies and flip flops would be comical if not hurting the people of Thailand so severely.

Ignorance might stem from the educational system which does not encourage critical thinking or allow questioning of "superiors" i.e. teachers/politicians/doctors etc. Sad but this might encourage a "sheeple" mentality e.g. just follow and do what you are told.

you might be right, but this cannot be changed from one day to another. It means also that these people are not ready "TODAY" to be in politics.

  16. If it is really true that the international community needs to "resist evil", then one needs to be consistent in that view. Was the coup that deposed an elected government here not wrong? (Does it REALLY make me an apologist for the Reds to keep asking this question?)

Yes, resisting evil and supporting democracy where the rule of law is supreme means supporting the coup and supporting the people who tried to restore the rule of law. It means resisting the reds who are trying to usurp the rule of law through tyranny of the majority.

what u call "tyranny of the majority" most civilized people call democracy.

you hail those who used UNLAWFUL means to restore the rule of law. to you and your ilk, the means justify the ends.

it is precisely what hitler claimed of his 1923 putsch.

in fact, your pro coup position can only imply two things: you respect neither majority rule nor the rule of law.

what you are in effect advocating is violence to achieve your objective, which is the tyranny of the minority over the issan untermensch. this is the real agenda of the anti red european brown shirts who blog here.

unlawful means ? what are you talking about? - look at this video, who is wearing a yellow shirt at that time - who killed unlawful?

  17. I think a few people here should watch this very informative conducted by the ANU (Aust Nat Uni)

    "

I dont agree with you....EVERYONE should view this ...and particuarly take note of the last presenter.....there will be some people on TV who wont agree but what the man says is all basic common sense...there are many countries going through the same pains

you are right, very interesting video. In my opinion the reds need to be educated and learn that their situation is not caused by the current government, but by the financial crisis (exports declined), which hit them the most.

  18. What? You mean we're actually going to have an election? You could see why the Alliance for Democracy would be against that! The PAD realizes, they will lose... again. They realize that their only chance of being in power was to get Abhisit in power without a real election, and now he wants to give up power? This is an outrage! My guess is a couple weeks after the elections the yellows will be camping out in the city, and we can rinse and repeat.

I feel bad for Abhisit. He's in a tough position. The old power figures refuse to give it up, or to compromise in any way. This deal was a compromise, both sides had to give something. He's turned away the people who put him in power though by doing so. Still, kudos for trying. I get the feeling the yellows would have much rather he just plow over the Reds with tanks, ala Tiananmen Square, to put those "poor uneducated peasants" in their place. The first step for change in Thailand, will be teaching both sides the rules of compromise.

Absolutely right "RULES OF CPMPROMISE" have to be thaught and respected
