  1. Siam Beach = Nui Beach. Those that control this beach own the land above the beach and charge anyone for access.

Nui beach is a totally different beach, just a bit further down the road towards Nai harn from the viewpoint. Siam beach entry road is right next to the viewpoint. The entrance fee there is more expensive, 250 bahts I belive, and Iv'e heard you cant bring your own food and drinks etc but I also heard its very nice. Never been there though, so I stand to be corrected.

  2. I've never been down there (been down the road but not down through the woods) but are you sure it wasn't a tide thing? Surely there must be some sand there some times??

Dunno, even if it was high tide the small amount of sand there was that shingle stuff and that was covered by loads of rocks anyway, cant imagine it would get much better when the tide went out.

There is sand and a small beach. There even used to be mattrasses, but I think these have gone now

Defo gone, No space to put a mattress, all I could see were rocks, some broken wood and empty bottles.

  3. Went to Siam beach today, its just down the road to the left of Kata viewpoint, there are signs saying 1800 meters to siam beach and restaurant It costs 100 baht to go down to it from the restaurant, and when you get to the bottom of many steps, guess what...there is no beach! There is a tiny clearing probably not more than 10 x 3 metres, which is not really a clearing at all as its covered in rocks and <deleted>, (you would struggle to find a space to lie a towel down) and there's a rocky outcrop. I got there climbed onto the outcrop stood for a minute then climbed back up the steps. The guy told me it was a nice beach when i paid the 100 bahts. You do get a free soft drink with that, but you definitely need it by the time you walk down and straight back up those steps. Anyway, just a word of warning to anyone who thinks It might be worth a look one day......It isn't!

  4. Without doubt Jomtiem is better value for money than Kata / Karon and it has much better transport options with the baht bus system and metered taxis, but Kata / Karon, and Phuket generally is way more scenic and is just a much nicer place to be, and there is NO comparison if its beaches you want. I spent a month in Pattaya last christmas as I was thinking about moving there but even though I enjoyed the lower prices / good transport / abundance of Pu ying and IMO better clubs, It just never felt like a nice place to be and I barely went in the sea the whole month I was there!.

Phuket is not without Its problems but If you can get past them its a <deleted>***ng cool place to be! At the end of the day though, unless you change your plans and decide to drive and rent yourself a car or bike, you would do better to stay in Jomtiem.

  5. Im not sure if its the same with all genuine glasses here but Oakleys are way more expensive here than in the UK, and the US is cheaper again. I just bought a pair of Oakleys online for £45, half price. Here they are 7000 +. Worth thinking about If you have some way of getting them here and avoiding import tax. I was passing through Newcastle on my way back from work, but If you know someone who's coming out anytime soon? check online for big savings. I will also add that I have the copies of the originals and appearance wise they are identical.

  6. Got to admit, If it wasn't for the girls I wouldn't of stuck around, and I think neither would the vast majority of of farang that are settled here. Its not the only reason Im here but Its a big part.

Also as I call Phuket my home now, but work away in other country's, I regularly meet lots of guys from all different places, and when we get on to the topic of Phuket no one ever says 'ahh yeah I went there last year to look at the big buddha and the sea shell museum' or 'me and my mates are going there soon, where are the most beautiful beaches and the finest views?' The first thing that people always mention is the girls.

I even know a few married blokes who come on regular 'Golfing Holidays' ....Im not sure that they ever bring their clubs though! It seems that is what Phuket, and in fact Thailand is all about for most.

Whether Its coming to Bang as many birds as you can, or to find the love of your life, the women are the main reason for most men to travel here. Thai girls are a huge part of what keep Phuket going. I mean really, without the availability of easy sex and or the opportunity to get an attractive girl half your age, that you most of you know you would never have a chance with in your own countries, most of the male species would be on the next flight to Pattaya! Lah gone!

  7. The first lad you see is T bless I worked with him at Tesco, I love Eminem so realy like this, very proffessional

Hahaha thats like comparing Chelsea with Accrington Stanley.....who are they.....Exactly!

I have no idea who Accrington Stanley is but do know who Chelsea is...

    Nothing gets by you, eh?

I think that was the point Chalongian was trying to make.

    To spell it out:-

    Eminem = well known

    T bless = huh?

I was also trying to make the point that:

Eminem = lyrical genius and one of the best rappers ever.

T bless is a trolley wolly from tesco, and this song IMO bag o sh**e!

  8. yes, my dog is allowed to bite non family members trying to take anything out of his mouth, and he walks around in public areas without a leash. why would anyone try to take something out of a rottweilers mouth and expect not to be bitten?

Im sure most people wouldn't try, but what about kids who don't know any better? Should they just be mauled for their innocence? Plus the fact if you walk him off the leash people are much more likely to think he's not an aggressive dog and is more approachable. No dogs should be allowed to bite people unless its self defence or protecting their homes or owners. Especially ones that can inflict a serious amount of damage eg. Rotties! With training like that its no wonder these dogs get a bad reputation.

  9. I never liked rotties until I met some well trained rotties joining us training avalanche rescue. They where awesome, extremely goal/work oriented, nothing could stop them from doing their job. This was 25 years ago, and due to the lack of fuhr, unablity to live outdoor in snow, I didnt want rotties at that time. Moving to thailand 8 years ago, it was time. A firm and kind leader, and you have the most fantastic dog. Loyal, playful, to be trusted with kids and shi tsus, a bit lazy when "job" is done but that suits most families perfectly. As guard dog, they dont allert when not needed, IOW intellegent analyses on when to alert, so totally quiet most nights. Rotties behavior in any situation is very easy to predict, and thus can be interfered. Not very interested in other dogs, and when a group of (street) dogs want to attack, they are ignored until they actually attack. then rottie picks the leader, shake him a bit, remain standing over him until totally quiet and not moving and walks happily away

My rotties are allowed to bite intruders, and is allowed to protect his toys from strangers, IOW bite. Unthinkable for a dog in public areas without a leash in my homecountry, but needed in a society with people hitting dogs

agree on Dobermans, to much smart on their own and generaly flighty. hard to predict, and hard to get a job done, and not really fearless as a rottweiler is

agree on pit bulls and the identical/similar breeds, extreme bite but so has a crocodile, and useless as working/guard dogs and rather stupid

rottweilers do need a firm, experienced and kind leader, and most horror stories about rottweilers are dogs without training or lack of leadership. On the other hand, I leave my dogs home with my maid on occasions for a week or so, she was scrared to sh-t when she started here 1,5 years ago, still walks in circles around dog, but works fine even in public areas

    post-81971-0-07150000-1289098836_thumb.j

Have I understood this correctly? You are saying you allow your Rotweiller off the leash and to bite if anyone touches Its toys in public places? If so that is totally Irresponsible dog ownership, and If not and I've read this wrong I apologise.

  10. Why did you even bother to post this? Get off your lazy ass and go look around Patong if that's your thing. 'Cake' 'Eat' and 'Want' spring to mind. Jeez.

I somewhat agree with this poster. Yes you need to get your own place in or near the "action zone" if you plan on womanizing on a regular basis. But having good information for where to go get deals can save you a lot of time.

Another tip: rent motorbike and drive around. I suggest renting by the month or even buying one if you ride around soo much. You can rent 3000/mo if you find the right spot. That would save you 8-12000 right there.

Yeah of course, good information will save loads of time and hassle, and giving good advise is partially what this sites about isn't it EVANSON ?

Also yeah buying a motorbike is a good idea and I am currently looking for a Honda Dream if anyone knows of one for sale?

  11. Why not move to Patong instead? You should be able to find a reasonably priced comfortable place there. if you are going 4 times a week anyway.

I agree. The OP wants a 'quiet' life in Chalong' whislt bemoaning the fact the expensive trips to Patong to find his 'for the night ho?

Rent a flophouse in Patong. or get a 'live in' in Chalong. 'Bout the same anyway :whistling:

Whats wrong with wanting the quiet life and not being hassled by tailors, t.shirt, watch, dvd, massage and all the other <deleted> 24/7. One of the main things about living over here is having a nice chilled out place to live, and being able to wake up and take a dip in the pool every day . For what I pay here I would be in a shitty no pool apartment in Patong. I also wanna be near to Kata and friendship beach, which I am!

Further more, Im not only In Patong looking for my 'for the night ho' there are plenty of birds and bars all over the place in Chalong, Rawai, Kata, Nai harn all much easier to get too. I just prefer going to Nightlubs, and bars like scruffy Murphys, so more often than not I end up with a bird from Patong.

Anyway, I don't want no live in, but I would rent a flophouse, the question In my OP was ....does anyone know of a cheap room or guesthouse in patong???? So far people have replied about bus routes through Kamala during the daytime, Imaginary train stations, picking me up but taking my wench, and riding home on a Tandem lol

    can anyone recommend somewhere?

  12. I'll come and pick you up. but (if you have good taste) the girl stays with me...deal ? :D

Well I usually think I have good taste....but there have been quite a few mornings when I woke up nd thought ....<deleted>, I wish i had traded her for a free ride home! Or just never picked her up in the first place. Beer Goggles have a lot to answer for!

  13. never been there but is there a local city bus between the 2 places ?

Yeah, get the friendly and cheap night-bus service. It leaves from the bus stop next to the train station...........................

Seriously, get a room. There are stacks of very reasonable, clean and safe guest house/small hotel rooms for 500b a night. Ride to Patong, take an overnight bag, score the chick of that night's dreams, send her on her way the next morning. Wash and brush up and then ride safely and soberly, home. That saves you 500 baht a trip.

And with that saving..........you could almost afford her friend too.!

Even during Songkran i managed to snag a room in Patong for 600b a night. It makes sensible sense.

Yeah thats pretty much my plan, but high season is fast approaching or has already started and it may not be that easy, can you recommend any places at 500 or less per night?

  14. Why not move to Patong instead? You should be able to find a reasonably priced comfortable place there. if you are going 4 times a week anyway.

I dont really like the place itself. Its an overcrowded, dirty rip off, but thats where the clubs and nightlife are. Chalongs pretty central for everywhere I wanna be the rest of the time and Its just a much nicer place to be. Also I probably would have to spend whatever I saved on taxi fares to get the same sort of place in Patong as I have here.

  15. Hi all, I've been doing my sums and I recon I spend approx between 11,000 - 20,000 bahts a month on taxis and tuk tuks, I live in chalong but go out in Patong about 3 or 4 times per week. A typical night will cost 900 - 1000 in taxi fares so even if i just went out 3 times a week and paid the 900 per round trip, which is a taxi there for 400 and a tuk tuk back for 500, on a 4 week month is 10,800. A 5 week month, tuk tuks both ways at 1000 per trip and 4 nights out a week is 20,000 a month...more than my rent!. That is an insane amount to be spending on Taxis! If I was in Phuket full time It would be worth my while renting a room in Patong alongside one of the locals for 5000 a month or less, just for party night use and then travel there and back with my motorbike as i don't like to drink and drive, but as i work away thats not an option either, unless its possible to get one on a monthly basis only. So my question is, does anyone know of a cheap room available for monthly short term lets or a cheap room / guesthouse in Patong? This will also save me the hassle of driving a girl back to Patong the next day if I pick up there which is usually the case! Or is anyone else in the same situation and wants to start sharing cabs when going out or coming back on a weekend? Or does anyone have any better ideas (that don't involve not going to Patong)?? Looking forward to seeing your responses, Thanks!

  16. Good friends, Bottles of becks, not having to ask the price of everything before you buy, UK bars, and UK supermarket prices and having a car.

In fact if I could transport all the pretty girls back to Newcastle, turn the temperature right up outside, put a big swimming pool in my garden, surf without my wetsuit, eat out for every meal, get a good massage several times a week, and be called a hansom man everyday I'd go back tomorrow.

  17. Railand, there used to be a small office on the hill nearby safari. The main office is in Bang tao I think. The Russian girl who worked there year before last was possibly the best looking girl in the world!!

  18. I went there from Phuket 2 months ago, arriving in the evening. I was first off the plane and cleared customs, including buying visa on arrival in 15 mins. Not many people about . I then returned the next night at about 10pm to meet my mate flying in from Perth, there were alot of flights arriving then, and after about 2 hours, and several cans of Bintang later, I finally seen him making his way out of the airport. Denpasar airport sucks if there is more than 1 small plane arriving at a time. Its really not equiped to deal with much more than that at any time. I never heard of the VIP thing before but in future I will at least be getting my visa before travel, just incase!

  19. Hi, I am wondering why so many buisness' in Thailand charge the same or In alot of cases more, for a great deal of products and services as they would in the western world, including everything from food in supermarkets and restraunts to furniture, cars, clothing, sports equiment....I could go on, yet still pay the staff working in most places an

abismal salary? How is this justified? What are your opinions on this?

  20. I went into the one at the esplanade last year and was offered a lifetime membership for 12000 and I could use any branch. The only problem with California is it's always so busy unless you can go during the day time. Still a great deal though. Just walk into any branch and ask for the same deal. If they don't wanna give it to you right away just leave, but make sure you give them your real number coz I'm sure they will call you by the end of the day.

  21. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me where is the cheapest place to eat fresh seafood on the island? It dosent seem particularly cheap anywhere and I don't wanna cook it myself! Really fancy some lobster right now. Also where is considered the best or most popular seafood restraunt by Thai people on Phuket?
