I have had luck with conversions, i have a bmw e36 325 sedan, that has been converted to a euro spec 1995 e36 m3. (Manuel gear box)

    I also have a 2004 clk 55 amg conversion

I live up north, no traffic,. The cost is more than expected, but considering 1 conversion is essentially two cars transformed into one, the price is understandable.

The only reports I've read about people attempting to file TM28 forms here in Chiangmai (note: other provinces may be quite different) is that the Immigration Officer handed the materials back and said they didn't want them.  You've filed the TM30 for your owner (your wife) and, based on what I've been told by Chiangmai Immigration, you need to refile that (actually, you just show up at the same office....the one behind the regular immigration office near the airport with your passport only and they'll just put another circular stamp on the same TM 30 Receipt of Notification you got before) each time you return from out of country.  A new TM30, of course, is supposed to be filed if you ever move your residence within country. I'd ignore the TM28 routine as it seems Chiangmai Immigration has no use for it.

That has been my experience as well.

  3. about 2-3 weeks back, I had immigration show up, and asked my wife is the "falang that is registered to this home still lives at the house?"

I was in the house but in another room, and I didn't even know they were at the house.

She asked them if they would like to see me, and she grabbed a leash, so's to control me as she paraded me around the house.   (OK that part is embellished)

Any how the IO's said it wouldn't be necessary to see me, and asked how much our family monthly budget expenditures was.

(I am not sure why they asked that)

They then took a photo of the ID section of my passport and left.

The stranger thing was, about an hour after immigration left, some folks from "customs" showed up, asking about a box from China my wife had shipped in 2 years ago.   They wanted to know the contents, value of the contents, when the box was shipped in etc etc.   She answered their questions, and said that her accounting of the box, matched their records....   and they then left.

Believe you misunderstand - I am saying you must report if stay is longer than 90 days and leaving after 92 days without reporting means you did not do that and you will be subject to fine if found out (and normally that would be at the first report after return where they will check last report and when you departed and returned).  There is a provision to allow reporting up to 7 days late without fine but that does not apply if a TM47 is not submitted (as in just leaving).

Wrong, as u have a grace prriod of 7 days to report after your 90 days have lapsed. So in theory if u left in 92 days it would not matter, if u left 98 days, then u got a problem

Your g/f reported you staying at her house a day late?  Why?  Why not report you just got there?  Seems a bit odd to me.  I've stayed at 300 or so g/f's house and never once did they suggest reporting it to Thai Immigration.  Wow you must have quite a different g/f.  How would she know to report you?  I've never met a Thai person who has heard of this regulation.

There must be more to the story.

I flew out, of Thailand, came back after 2-3 weeks.

My wife and I went to immigration so she could file a new tm30.  (register a foreigner within 24 hrs of arrival at your house, apt, condo etc)

The immigration office was pressing her on if I had been at my wife's house longer than 24 hrs, and my wife showed the IO mydeparture card stamp, and my plane ticket stubs, in order to prove I had not been in Thailand longer than 24hrs.

(I had been in Thailand for about 23 hrs at the time we were at the immigration office)

  6. well, apparently the folks at my immigration office are not under your supervision, as what I have been doing has worked for over a year.   I report as soon as I get back into Thailand, (the airport is a 5 minute drive to the immigration office).

The IO issues me a new 90 receipt of notification, and my wife submits a new tm30 on the same day.

I leave again, next month, I'd be surprised if there is any change the status quo, but if there is, I'll scrounge around in my wallet, and some how manage to find 2K baht.

You can do 90 days a week before or a week after, it is nothing to do with overstay. If you go over a week late, they will want Bht 2000.

    http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=90days

    1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or
    2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or
    3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.
    4. The notification must be made within 15 days before or after 7 days the period of 90 days expires.
    5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

My understanding, and I have tested this, leaving Thailand, acts as "reporting" when you come back to Thailand, the date you arrive re-starts a 90 day reporting cycle.

So in theory, you just get on the plane with no worries, and report 90 days after you arrive back in Thailand.  (do get a re-entry stamp before you go, if you don't....   you will be in a world of bother)

The law is quite clear ON THIS MATTER, REPORT WHERE YOU ARE STAYING, SHOULD YOU MOVE REPORT THAT. IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, ALTHOUGH IT WOULD SEEM TO MANY POSTERS IT IS AN INFRINGEMENT. the hotels and other places where foreigners stay also have to report your details, which the majority do.

if you do not like the laws, LEAVE...simple .

    Clear as mud

The law is, the house master must submit a tm30 within 24 hrs of the arival of a foreinger at their property (house, condo, apt etc)

I know of no form or rule that states you cant leave that property or form to submit at the time a foreigner does leave.

I am registered, at a location,  can i leave that location, and if so, how long, where r the details ?

Not a tourist a thug criminal. We all feel safer without people like him being locked up and deported- good job.

    What.....

I could have been this, guy.....   as this is the first I have ever heard of this rule.     The only difference between this British fellow and me that I am aware of is

    1) Im fatter

    2) Im not Brittish

    3) I don't have tattoos

    4) I have yet to get snagged up by some police asking me why I'm not sitting in the house I am registered at, rather than sitting at the local theater watching "Stork" with my daughter.

If he left home at 4pm he has til 4pm the next day to report.Up to you.

I have never seen any rule like this, I have seen a rule that states the "house master" must submit a TM30 within 24 hrs of the foreigners arrival.

Your saying that a house master or hotel not only needs to inform the police that a foreigner resides at the hotel, and has left the hotel as well?

  11. 6 minutes ago, Shawn0000 said:

Tourists registration are the responsibility of the hotel, that is why they need your details when you check in, and if they do not register you it is them who get fined, not the tourist, long stayers and staying in private houses is different, then the onus is on the foreigner.

Not sure if that is the case either.  My wife can fill out the TM30, without me being there, I usually park the car as she is taking care of the paper work, show up, exchange smiles with the IO's and head out the door with my wife.

Further explanation on who is required to submit the TM30 can be found here.

No, sorry, if you are away from your residence for longer than 24 hours the house owner is required to notify the police and you are required to notify immigration. It doesn't matter if you are having a trip around Thailand and are stopping every night in a different place = 31 notifications x 2 =bloody nonsense. Oz is not the most perfect place but you only have to name where you are staying when you enter the country after that it's "off you go". :welcomeani::smile:

I'm not sure if this is the case.

All I can do is speak from experience.   I am in Thailand on an O Visa, 1 year extension based on marriage, with multiple re-entry.   I leave Thailand about every 9 to 11 weeks.  Often when I return to BKK, I stay in BKK for a few days, then either drive or fly back to my family up North.

After returning home, I then go (with my wife) to the immigration office within 24 hrs, show them my documents, such that they know that I left Thailand, and I am now back with my family.  I think my wife fills out another TM30 (or they just keep the old one on file, as there are no changes).

Any how, nothing but pleasantries are shared at the immigration office.  There is no mention regarding my wife not informing immigration of my departure.

What does make me nervous about the 4k fine, as I mentioned before, I usually stay in BKK a few days before I head home. I certainly do not want any problems with authorities while I am in BKK.   (and no I don't hang out in bars and chase girls etc etc).  Not that I pass judgement on those that do, I'm just saying it isn't my life style.

What you were offered is a LOT of money for any place in Thailand. 99% of the thais don't make a fraction of that.

The people saying that this isn't much are either jealous or they spend all their money with booze and girls.

Or it could be said u r jealous

oh poor baby. live with 65k will be very hard.
you will get only a 2 floor house, swimming pool, a car and a few ladies.... bouhouhouhou.... life is unfair ;)

It is all relative, a community pool, where anyone can urinate in, could be said is a big toilet, or nothing more than a cess pool.

65k, isnt going to allow for car ownership, or at least any car 350hp and above. It wont allow for the ownership of an off shore sport fishing boat, it wont allow for a lifestyle where you dont worry about what is in your wallet, as oddly enough u just seem to have 20k in your wallet at any given moment.

65k, will allow you to eat out, often, but not allow you to have 2/3 BHT meals with your companion, but as i said before, you can run the AC (i guess that could be lavish to some)

  14. Haven't filled out the form yet, as I travel outside the country too often. (at least once every 10-11 weeks)  Every time I come back to Thailand the 90 day clock is re-set, so I don't need to do 90 day reporting.

That being said, I have been to the immigration office, as my wife was submitting the TM30 form, and there was no request for me to fill out any more documents.   (probably just lucky)

  15. Ok

    The mother is absolutey horible.....

But moving forward, what can be done for the child. Id love to see a thai visa charity, such that we (or i) could contribute to in order to help those in need.  No offense intended, but i dont want to give to a charity that is not transparent, or one that i cant fully understand the intent/goals/administration etc etc.

Is there such a program now?
