Well over in the U.S. some teenage girls stabbed a classmate 19 times because they wanted to please "Slenderman", an online imaginary character. Ah, the next generation.

Noting that this attack was at Erawan, not Soi Cowboy, maybe it's aimed primarily at Chinese tourists, not Western tourists. Possibly some strain of Thai nationalist anti-Chinese tourists? Admittedly seems far-fetched, given the amount of Chinese blood in Thais, but this is a new age.

Maybe they should go back to being good Communists. They haven't yet mastered all the tools of being good Capitalists.

Fun to speculate (daydream?) but I think I have outgrown wealth and spending it. I have maybe $1.5 Million in investments, but never spend any of it. At 67, I'm content with a simple lifestyle, no longer drink, and can easily live on my pensions in the US. I travel overseas once a year, don't feel the need to get to know any 25 y.o. companions, and expect to leave whatever my estate is worth to my 2 daughters. Maybe I'll go whacko when I hit 75, who knows.

Couldn't Subin potentially still own the property even if it's found to be in Cambodia?

with fewer and fewer of the cowboy idiots that used to blight this area hanging around.
No need to get personal.

Bring back Amarit. Probably won't, it's been many years.

Somyot said some cases have apparently ruled by court.
Anyone have a clue what this means?

Heartfelt congrats to all my brothers, 5 days to 35 years. I'll be 5 years on June 12, God willing.

I teach Chinese and will be leading a group of 19 American high school students on a tour in China next month. I intend to make very sure there will be no reason to complain about our group while we are there, but who knows.

I'm guessing this will turn out to be a twist on the old "wife's family's sick water buffalo" scam.

A bit OT, but native Hawaians have tried for years to find a way to restrict land ownership there to themselves. Won't ever fly under US law, but they'll probably keep on trying.

As foreign visitors, what we're in favor of really is not that important. I reserve my righteous indignation over injustice for my own country.

You need separate bike lanes and a change in attitudes. Bikes are a clean form or transportation and make a lot of sense in a city prone to gridlock.
-
Not only a lot of damage to the car, but it knocked the bike 200m? More than 2 football fields?

You mean to say it's illegal? Who knew?

Nothing unususal about sitting in a bar and having a a warm experience talking to the person next to you. I love you man.

Did the Check Inn move there from Sukhumvit?
-
They're all after my money. That's why I still keep the Pacific Ocean between us.
-
Can't wait to see all those Teslas going from 0-100 in 6.2 seconds down Sukhumvit.

God, grant me the ability to accept the things I cannot change.

I realize this is Thailand, so facts and laws are always in flux. I see some contradictions on this thread on what this all means. One poster says there will be no exceptions. Another says Nana and Cowboy are entertainment zones and are exempt. Does anyone know for sure?

I was stationed at the radio facility, Ramasun Station, outside Udon Thani in 1972-1973 as a Chinese linguist in the US Air Force. It wasn't all that secret, just a radio intercept station. We had no helipad or any special forces going out on secret forays or anything like that. Other than VD and bad food, very little danger there. Except that I did once have to jump over a cobra while running the perimeter road. Really.

I'll be chaparoning a group of American high school students in China this June. I'm hoping they won't have that much trouble finding the toilets, but I'll let you know.
Where to get first O-A in the US?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Good luck Manassas, I also live near Chicago, am retired, and would be looking to do exactly what you are doing if it weren't for one thing. My wife is Irish American, not Thai, and is definitely not looking to move to Thailand. Don't know why she can't see the same attractions I do.
