No, it's the coconut milk I believe. Tom Yum without, Tom Kha with...
I think you just disproved this with your last link ....
QuoteA mild to spicy soup with coconut milk, galangal (kha) and chicken.

We bought repossessed land from KTB bank at their list price. It was the last of 4 lots they had remaining in what was originally one parcel. Had to submit our offer 'in writing' and wait a month as part of legal proceedings but it was otherwise a seamless exercise.
KTB on Mahidol Road heading away from Airport Plaza and on left side just as overpass and entry ramp merge. Kasikorn Bank down Hang Dong Rd, western side, have a book and/or display of properties and one can make appointment to view.

I always seem to end up with ribs although next visit steak it is! I'm on a birthday promise.
Last order of chips I found 2 that were overcooked (whinge whinge) otherwise the country style fries are superb - not dripping with oil like some places.
Duke's dressing are unique and the warm spinach salad was huge hit.
As per CMBob's post, I too find it unusual for someone to post -ve comments on a forum without having taken the matter up with Dave.

With coconut milk, isn't it Tom Kha rather than Tom Yum?
I don't think so. It's more to do with the spice mix if anything.
Tom Yum Moo is a popular dish (we eat often) made with similar ingredients but would never be called 'kha' ... no milk of any kind is added.

I had ribs at Promenada 2 weeks ago and they were the BEST ever... normally great, these were sensational! On topic, the sauce, perhaps same as used on the meatloaf, was perfect for my taste though Thai's prefer sweeter.
I make my own secret recipe meatloaf with a similar sauce though Dave's is better!

My wife makes the BEST tom yum goong ... solly, not available commercially.
Secret is in the freshness of ingredients and equal balance of salt sweet sour spicy. Most Thai's tend toward too spicy (phet/hot) and/or sweet. In the south, coconut milk is used for colour and texture though we prefer carnation milk.

Saw a non-dairy yoghurt in Makro yesterday ... 'organic' soy product and they now have a good range of goat's milk product.
-
Veggies Dairy (not diary) product looks good though Yolida is exactly how I like it ... just like home-made. Easy to make at home too.

Rimping and Makro stock YOLIDA natural yoghurt. Don't know about organic but I'd say it's closer to it than anything labeled as such 55
You are obviously not in Bangkok.

Quite right ... brain fart, sorry. Aussie Pub is the Kamala, Phuket equivalent.

Possibly on at the Aussie Pub on Loi Kroh - down the Iron Bridge end.

Transam and stats9 advice is pretty much spot on without elaboration.
The make/model/fuel type of car would help with advice but over-inflation of tyres to say 40psi is ok. Steel belted radials do not suffer from prolonged deflation like early cross-ply tyres which precipitated the jacking up of a vehicle stored long term.
A modern diesel, full tank, disconnect battery.
For a petrol engine car running leaded 91 I'd fill with 95 as long as storage is undercover and secure. The RON value will dissipate with age.
Humidity is an empty fuel tanks worst enemy long term as expansion/contraction draws air in thru the breather. Air contains water which condenses inside the tank. This is really only a problem in situations where a vehicle goes thru cycles of extreme hot days and cool nights during rainy season. A litre of metho in the petrol tank upon return will help eliminate any water.
I have never seen a rusted steel tank from short-term near empty storage.

Any time proof of residence is required, ie opening bank a/c, assume also renewing Driver licence, the card should suffice. No need to carry YTB. Used mine twice in past few months.

Excellent service today, 90days done and dusted in 12 minutes flat!
We indulged in a superbly moist and tasty Dukes half rack of ribs and warm spinach salad ahead of the 1pm kick-off and there were just a handful of others waiting. Extensions appeared similarly quiet with maybe a dozen seated inside waiting.
A good result given the online system was hacked and inoperative. Top marks to CM Immigration at Promenanda.

Is it a weir or is it a dam, or is it a damn weir?
It's damned weird.

Just as a side issue..., can anyone remember the last time there was flooding inside the moat ?
Last big downpour caused surface flooding.
Problem with old city area is poor drainage and I hope draining of northern moats is an attempt to mitigate real flooding.

If the Padaet Dam wasn't there the excess water would have gone a long time ago wouldnt it ? or is that too simplistic. I dont know. Someone on this forum when it was constructed, suggested that the dam is to keep the water near the city in dry times and boat owners happy.Conspiracy theory? Any water experts on here.
Correct, the weir controls water level in CM cbd at a near constant level.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Current major storage dams:-
North (7) = 25% usable out of 52% total (averaged)
Northeast (12) = 28% out of 48% total (averaged)
Central (3) = 41% out of 46% (averaged)
Current 51 medium storage dam levels in Northern provinces (averaged) = 46.65% usable out of 59.2% capacity - many, especially in Nan are already 100% full or over capacity.

Went looking for CMG one time without success. A GPS fix would help locate.
Shinckensomething TGM brand ham at BigC is best we've found. I will only buy from a fresh new piece and it must be pale (sow), not red (boar).

Not brave, we already have almost 50% more storage.
I posted '... Major dams averaging over 20% now, a 5% increase of usable storage in 30 days ' ... that's across 7 Northern dams. The actual capacity average (what you'd see in photos which I don't have, sorry Mike), is 48%.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
1 hour ago, Sparkles said:Tradionally the so called "wet season" peters at the end of this month.A lot more rain is need to get the dams to an acceptable level to last through the "dry"
With an ever increasing population I doubt that fact has crossed the minds that matter that future water usage is growing rapidly.
This is probaly the most consistent rain we have had ,long may it continue
There's already sufficient to last through next dry season. Dam levels are well above last year already, Northern dams total volume in MCM's (million cubic metres) last year on left and current total on right ....

metal roofing companies/contractors
in Chiang Mai
Posted
I found a sheet metal roof manufacturer on Hang Dong Rd, western side, just north of Kad Farang and alongside a general home building supplies store. One might easily think the 2 shop fronts are one and the same but it seems they don't live together harmoniously. The building supplies co did not even acknowledge his neighbour, a competitor in some small part.
Location is here https://goo.gl/maps/6mJFczVe6no - the building under demolition or reconstruction is the roofing co's shop front. Lady manager speaks perfect English. The sheet metal works and roof rolling factory is out back. I watched as pre-ordered lengths of colorbond roofing came off the rolling machine with bonded insulation. A slick operation!
Sorry I can't be more helpful but I'm sure the manageress will be only too happy to give further advice.
