  1. Some good points someoneelse. Although i did mention The Gold coast as the flight destination in the 1st post.

I am actually better going to OOL (Coolangatta Airport) as i will only be travelling up to Beenleigh. ($8 bus and train)

I take your last point and agree. So I am now looking at an even earlier flight out of BKK. This will also work out better as I am coming down to BKK via bus that arrives there quite early AM.

  2. Very good point knocka ..... and even Air Asia call centre say the same thing :)

Gave them a quick call yesterday to confirm a few things in regards to using my visa card. The gentleman I spoke to was adamant that 3 hours whilst possible was often just not enough time.

He actually suggested to wait for a couple of hours and re-check the fares on-line. Lo and behold an earlier flight to Kl that I was looking at had dropped in price by 700 bht :D

Impressed with their customer service thus far ..... just hope the trip goes as well :D

  3. Will definately pass on my thoughts and observations after the trip :D

Just thought of another couple of questions ?????

    1. What currency is accepted in KL (LCCT) at food outlet / mini marts etc etc ???

    2. Using Air Asia I am assuming I will have to retrieve my checked in baggage at KL and re-check it in for the flight to OZ ???

    Any experiences there guys :)

  4. Thanks Guys. I think that covers just about everything I was unsure of (good and bad)

    Thanks :)

Stumbled across another option with a possible good outcome.....

Virgin Blue from Phuket DIRECT to BNE on certain days .... One Way ..... 11745 Bht including taxes

  5. I have a need to travel back to Brisbane in the next week or so.

I am looking at one-way flights and the difference between the major carriers and Air Asia is HUGE !!! (11,000 baht V 22,000 baht)

I am aware of the restrictions and additional costs that Air Asia have in place for baggage / food / etc etc...

I have found a couple of well timed flights that would see me on the ground in KUL for less than 3 hours.

Q1 - has anyone experience of transferring from the BKK flight to the BNE (Gold coast actually) or other Australian destination?

I am assuming different gates in possible different terminals ?? Hard to get around as in getting lost ?? :) What is KUL airport like for a short transit ??

Q2 - On line bookings ... whilst the Air Asia website looks pretty straight forward, I will have to book the 2 sectors at the same time ?? What happens if after booking and paying the BKK - KUL leg there is no seats available to BNE ??? Or am I missing something on the booking page ???

All and any help appreciated :D

  6. This fully rebuilt KR 150 was a good deal at the original asking price of 35K considering the money that has been spent on it.

It appears that I may be leaving Thailand quite soon for up to 1 year (work :) )

So its got to GO !!!!

17,000 Bht or VERY near offer. You will NOT find better value for a as new bike as this.

    Kawasaki KR150 1991

Extensive rebuild has made this bike like new

Frame off and Engine out rebuild

The engine has been completely stripped down to the last cog and gear. Inspected and rebuilt using genuine Kawasaki parts.

Connecting rod / bearings / seals etc. Cylinder and piston are fine.

Water pump complete replaced. Kips overhauled. New clutch plate. New auto-lube pump.

    New carby. Radiator overhauled.

Frame checked for alignment. All ok. Replaced swing arm.

Parts replaced include (mainly genuine, some better quality after market parts used when genuine parts not available)

Front disc and pads. Spokes and tyres. Headlight assembly. Instrument cluster. Wind deflector. Clutch cable hand grips and mirrors. Kick starter foot pegs and side / centre stands. 2 stroke oil tank. Battery and all globes. Rear indicators and brake light assembly. Seat recovered. Under seat and tyre mud guards. Front and rear sprockets and chain. 2 pak respray.

The bike has a 100% legal up to date green book and is insured and taxed until next year.

Super reliable and comfortable. I have done quite a few 300 - 400 Klm trips with complete confidence. The bike will cruise all day long at 110 KPH if required. Top speed indicated is 150+ KPH.

Please PM me for any further details.

Do you supply all the equipment at these melees ?

I only ask as we have had some quality stuff made up locally, that I would love to try on someone else. (just to get there opinion :D )

D&D is a roleplaying game mate!

ScorpioPower, my apologies. A google search revealed that D & D as described by you, was not what I was thinking about :D

I guess I got the wrong end of the whip....ooops, sorry, wrong end of the sticky pineapple....dam_n, I meant the wrong end of the stick.

    TBWG :D

    Really Dave :D

I thought #@^% the !&*$ (ex-salf - former banker - plumber) was a straight up and down missionary man.

    I am shocked :D

  9. The xmas prezzies for kids at the Tree Of Life Orphanage is a cracker of an idea :D

If anyone is thinking of dropping something off pre wrapped, it may be a good idea to use BLUE for boys and PINK for girls :D

If you just want to leave un-wrapped prezzies, I am sure someone will wrap them.

Also, secondhand toys and children books wouldn't go astray :D

Should be a great day :):D

  10. Its arrived~~~~ The Big Bums Day :) see you there :D

    TBWG :D

So much to talk about..so much to listen too...many unfinished conversations.....

Great day :D Great food ...and a good host and staff :D

Suprised you got back home by 18:36:26 and posted :D I hope you didnt exceed the speed limit :D

  11. Thanks all for some good and positive responses......

I agree with selling his current bike first and then going for a cash / finance deal.

Its not 100% legal at the moment...but will be soon.

I guess he is just working the numbers and trying to upgrade without taking too much of of a hit on his current bike.

Any specific dealer names, anywhere, would be appreciated :)

  12. I have a friend in Buriram that is currently getting around on a Yamaha Dragstar 400cc classic.

He would like to upgrade to something like the Yamaha 1100 cc Dragstar or similar.

He has the current bike as well as some cash, but would like to finance the balance.

He is on an extended Non O and married. Getting a Thai guarantor for the finance would not be a problem.

So, are there any big bike shops anywhere in Thailand that would possibly look at this sort of deal.

Anyone every gone down this road before?

    :)

  13. A bit of an update about Rockys Coffee Connection.

Rocky has now changed his opening hours. He is now open from 9AM to 9PM. Monday to Saturday.

He has also extended the menu and made both beer and good quality wine available.

His already extensive list of coffee has been added to with Jamacian Irish and Mexican available :)

The same airconditioned relaxing atmosphere, with attractive and attentive staff remains.

The book exchange is still in place, and he is now selling the BEST bread available in Buriram (from Muang Pizza shop) No mark up on the price and convienient if you are in there.

  14. Thats what I like to see ~~~ co-operation between farangs ...........makes me feel good inside! :)

    TBWG :D

Me too...hope old mate Almog from Buriram Expats is looking in and comes up with another "door prize" :D

Great guy. Who will be able to see us all from across the road from his Buriram Expats Head Quarters.

Although I am sure he will be there in person :P (with the door prize) :D
