  1. I usually pay 25 and sometimes 30, with pork or chicken. I saw a few signs today one for 45, the other was 55 THB. Are these just touristy places to avoid? Do they Thais ever spend that much on Pad Thai.

I'm getting concerned at the second part of the first line, not so much the price: Phad Thai with pork or chicken?!

Phad Thai has shrimp in it, at least dried shrimp and optionally bigger sized shrimp. Really huge ones IMHO would be overkill for what is indeed a snack, but fresh shrimp of any size will add ot the price.

You can insert any hamburger debate here. There is such a thing as 'too fancy' when it comes to a simple snack. When I say simple I don't actually mean simple of course: it takes experience more than ingredients to do a simple dish just right. Try making Phad Thai yourself sometime, it's actually remarkably difficult to get it just right. Same for Som Tam, etc, etc.

  2. Tuskers WAS Chas, Rachel, and their lovely staff. Good luck to the new guy, but who could do better ?!

Parking ?! Get real! Walk 25 - 50M ! Take a tuk tuk! What do you think it is; some kind of drive-in?

Offering valet parking would be possible. More places should do that.

    Valet Parking for Spicy!!!:cheesy:

hel_l yes. :) Also Moon Muang Soi 2, some fine establishments in there that perhaps don't get the clientele they could because there's no place to park and nobody to park the Rangie.

  3. And there we go again ... :( Why isn't it possible to just wish the new owner(s?)good luck in stead of speculating about what could happen?!

So, I would like to wish good luck the new owner. Definitely will drop in one day. :)

Excellent! Thaivisa wishes the new owners good luck. We are happy to offer you guys one months free advertising on Thaivisa to get you started.

    Cheers

This is absolutely none of my business, but it may be appropriate to note that the only thing 'New Bar' has in common with Tuskers is the location.

That, and that they opted to not buy Tuskers including name and inventory, but wait for Chas to move out and then get the premises at a cheaper price. (This is an assumption that may be wrong, but worth checking on before offering free anything.)

Either way I wish the new owners luck, there is no such thing as too many bars.

Whats the problem with that ?

seems like a prudent business decision that any smart business person would make dont you think ?

Yes, agreed. I'm not saying that's wrong in any way. It may or may not however merit a freebie in advertising. :)

  6. Topics like this make me sick. It is tasteless. Of course men are men, even when they age, but you old fellows should show a little bit more class than your younger equivalents.

    Why?

If I wanted to show class, why would I come to Thailand?

  7. It look like a jail I think.

Even at price like that why would you pay 250.000 bahts when you can rent a better room downtown for around 3000 bahts.

That is a lot of money for beer and ladies you are throwing over the balcony.

  8. Hi again

Just a quick thing, can i get a train back if I want...? Is there a direct route or is it not possible..?

Is not possible. Because train lines go to Bangkok, there is no transfer from North Eastern Line to Northern line. (Well, there is at Bang Pachi but that's almost at Bangkok).

If you like rail you could take bus to Phitsanulok and then train to chiang Mai, but its much slower than bus all the way.

  9. You can always ask to see a photo of them wearing uni uniform ..... they always have plenty on their mobile phones and are usually only too happy to show them.

And if that fails, just buy and bring your own uni shirts. They're sold everywhere.

  10. You can also use some of the blue water pipe and some cord. Put the cord through the pipe in a loop then place over the snakes head and pull the cord. Carry away from the house or drop into a sack for rehousing later. ;)

Right. That'll be the day. Most snakebites occur when people start messing with snakes, and the above most definitely qualifies as messing with one.
