Top causes of collisions and injury in Thailand:
1. Lack of driver education, training, and road safety marketing, leading to ignorance of consequences and selfish attitudes of drivers.
2. Poor enforcement, leading to widespread ignoring of traffic laws and principles eg speeding, seat belts, helmets, ghost riding, drivers hours, maintenance.
3. Preponderance of motorcycle use, with no protective gear, especially helmets.
4. Widespread drink driving, with little consequence of punishment like disqualification, heavy fines, jail time or higher insurance premiums.
5. Poor road design, with little vehicle separation eg motorcycles and trucks competing for space, dangerous u-turns from slow traffic into fast traffic, poor junction design with little signage or traffic islands to separate traffic, lack of roundabouts (traffic circles), poor marking of roadworks or damaged road surfaces, poor standard of road construction.
Until all the above are addressed, nothing will change for the better. As most victims (motorcyclists, pickup bed passengers and pedestrians) are poor, no one in authority cares about them.
On your point 1,
One would have thought that all the publicity and TV reporting every day on various media channels would be enough of an educational and safety marketing strategy in itself, but Hey I guess this is Thailand after all!

There are also quite a fewThai companies setting up here in Vietnam now too. So, it's obviously the economics that seems to be the major driving force, in my opinion.

So many questions about this report.
Only 7 samples were taken, why so few in a large building?
Did the woman actually use the gym?
Was the virus present in the gym before she became infected, or did she become infected elsewhere and then subsequently infect the gym?
Did she become infected on Koh Samui or during her passage to Koh Samui?I guess we will never certainly know, but we will carry on with lockdowns and quarantines nevertheless.

Let the Chinese lend the money to pay for it then dont pay them back.
Other countries are starting to do it.
Oh, do you mean like Laos where they are totally at the mercy of China now for their water and electricity supplies?

I'd say a country with so few infections, especially given their close proximity to China, has done quite well.
Japan has no physical border with China, as such, but just look at Vietnam which does have a physical border as a real example of what can be achieved.

Yet the Australian F1 this weekend is going ahead !! 100,000 fans in attendance....
Is the rest of the world over reacting or are F1 just trying to limit financial losses by running this race ??
Still going ahead in Hanoi in April too, as it stands at the moment.

This is the bit I liked. Why even bother mention it, then?

Agree the figures are far from credible, but it's odd that they'd single Thailand out. Do they know something we don't? Or - as others have suggested - is a big announcement of cases coming up that can be conveniently blamed on travellers returning to Thailand who did not self-quarantine? Another possibility is that UAE citizens returning from Thailand were found to be infected..
In Vietnam at the moment, all schools lang centres , universities etc have been closed for a month, they may go back next week. However, Veitnam has only reported 16 cases and no deaths, as yet. And you think Thailand is hiding numbers? The Viets did close down a whole district of 10,000 people in a province near Hanoi just over a week ago as there were a couple of reported cases there. But today the last person who has recovered was let out of hospital, so I guess you could say that there are no cases here anymore. ???????

You carry a spray around with you 24/7 then, do you? Even when you are travelling with luggage - you still have an alcohol spray handy - really?
Ridiculous response
And if it is in a bottle more than 100 mls , they will take it off you anyway. haha

Instead, they will continue to increase their personal wealth, by paying less wages to future teachers, than that allocated by the education ministry.
I once heard that the allocation to schools etc from the MoE is around 50,000 bht a month. And as we all know, many schools offer way less than that.

I am confused with this....if he was ok and was extradited on 27th, where did he pick the virus up from. He was in prison (presumably) before that) but he must have gone to court for example. Was he in isolation in prison and never allowed into the canteen for example?
Now he has flown on a plane or two planes for many hours after infecting two prison mates in Thailand? What about the people on the plane that he was breathing on?
Apart from the math, which is never accurate, what is it about all news articles in Thailand that leave you with more questions than answers?
How do we know it wasn't on of the two inmates that infected him?
Though it is more likely that he probably contracted it en route to the UK, in the airport or plane. Which begs the question, how many more are infected now? -

You snooze, you lose. Nothing new here.
BTW, have you got your flu shot yet?
The masks commonly used are about as much use as a cigarrette lighter on a motorbike, even the P2?N95 masks, are really only suitable to prevent outgoing germs from a person and really not designed to prevent inhalation from the surrounding air to the level of particles as small as a virus. They do not provide an efficient seal arround the face, they do not protect ingress of viral materials through the eyes.
The best way to prevent inhalation of airborne materials is by using a positive pressure face mask...https://www.amazon.com/3M-Facepiece-Respirator-6800-Chemicals/dp/B007JZ1LG6/ref=pd_sbs_121_3/133-0974828-8852411?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B007JZ1LG6&pd_rd_r=2ea311a6-ce10-4f2a-919a-3f429ef28c3d&pd_rd_w=xfcZ1&pd_rd_wg=GwXkh&pf_rd_p=bdd201df-734f-454e-883c-73b0d8ccd4c3&pf_rd_r=DAP3YHQYFZQNPKTEDE9B&psc=1&refRID=DAP3YHQYFZQNPKTEDE9B

I came from DMK yesterday to HCMC, and as the OP describes, it was the same for me at both airports.
In fact a Korean teenager was behind me in the queue at immigration in HCMC sniffing and coughing from time to time and nobody batted an eyelid.
I actually hadn't given much thought myself to the perils of using the scanner, which clearly wasnt being cleaned during my time stood in the queue at DMK.
I would say that considering the panic surrounding this virus outbreak, there didn't seem to be much going on at either airport to prevent it spreading, apart from the larger percentage of people wearing masks, (many of which were the really thin paper like ones), which of course overall are only a minimal barrier against a virus.

So let me get this straight. I am currently in Vietnam and will have been in vietnam for 3 months by the time of my next planned trip back to Thhailand.
Does this change now mean that if I wanted to, I could just turn up at Swampy, with my passport and get a tourist visa at swampy which will grant me a tourist visa stamp in my passport until August, if I wanted it, and also without having to do at least one 90day report during that time?
-
When i came to Thailand for my first holiday back in 2011 i never had to apply for a visa anyway , ok it was 10 day holiday followed the next year by another holiday no visa required. My kids came last year for 2 weeks , no visas required . So is this a case of 60 days FOC and what happens if you want 90 days ??? Dont see what all the big fuss is about????
-
Obviously it is a rather delicate time to be asking this question right now, May you Rest in Peace your Majesty, I am sure you will be greatly missed by all Thais and others who reside in your wonderful country.
But, I have to ask, what is the situation regarding Governement official opening hours and days at the current time? My missus tells me they ( immigration ) will be open sure 100%.
My 90 day report is due tomorrow. But what happens if they are closed? I am due to report tomorrow 14th Oct. I am also due to renew my WP next week. What about others who will be applying for new or renewed visas during this sad time, over the next few days and weeks????

"Sex capital of Asia"? Never going to happen.
Can't see Thailand relinquishing the title of Sex "hub" of SE Asia, can you?
Thailand wants and insists on being the HUB of everything in the Universe and even this little seedy claim would not be let go of lightly, especially as tourist numbers would drop dramatically lower , inspite of what the Gov't wants us to believe to the contrary.

"when bites on his legs became infected."
He died from infection, not a tropical disease???
bites can cause both and at the same time
Where did you get your medical degree, 555?
Bites don't "cause" infection. Scratching bites with dirty fingers and unwashed skin causes infection.
OMG the trolls are out on something as sad as this. Yes we know most of this , but it is surely the time you take to get the proper treatment for an infection which would be the important factor, I would have thought.
RIP Muzz, a sad way to go.

But you can trust forecasts about Good weather in the land of happiness .
So when we see more Thai Met forecasts "online" , presuming they will not all be forecasting good weather in reality, are we to believe them or not ??? That is the 64,000,000 baht question.

Very odd in fact, that we have seen not seen any reports on this issue in Japan since any second waves or new strians took effect there.
