If your plan is to buy yourself a job, then I would advice against it.

Wualai Road electrical shop or the lighting shop just west of moat northern gate will stock them if HomePro do not.
Thanks.
You must mean Southern gate?
(As in Wualai road is south of the moat)

When do you estimate that the pollutions levels at Chiang Mais become acceptable?
I looked at the 8 days forecast and it still looks still quite bad.
Wondering when to return back to Chiang Mai.

Just rent dude and save a million headaches.

The Big C Hang Dong sales person was very uninformed, and said there wuold be only 1 router (not 2), no phone line.
So we are asking somewhere else. The promo material we have received in the past clearly showed that there's the 790 baht 30/10 with TV android kit, and phone included.

Is AIS Fiber still good?
I am using 3BB FTTx 30/3 MB fiber for 1200 baht, and 3BB is some what slow internationally. AIS would be cheaper, and most likely atleast as fast.

Just FYI
Airasia markets their Premium Flex aggressively, promising 2x free change of date/time and other OK benefits. Don't ever pick this ticket if you pick it mainly because of the "free change of time/date". Whenever changing for "free", the new dates thru their site directly look cheap, but when trying to change the dates, suddenly double in price, making the whole "free change" as expensive as buying a new ticket.
Avoid if you can. The other benefits, don't really add up to make it value. As you can pick and choose which upgrades you want to the basic ticket and make it cheaper.

Probably about the same time when proper spelling and grammar became obsolete.

Who cares about a book when new cars don't even come with books, and the mileage has not been reached.
Dealers are very aggressive in targeting customers with maintainance, even if the yearly mileage is very low. In reality the parts are in total working condition, and not about to go bad any time soon. Changing parts that do not require to be changed is a big business. You don't need to do that if your mileage is low.
-
You don't need to do service every 6 months, unless you hate wasting your time and money. 3000 km is nothing.
You can check the color of the oil if it needs changing by yourself. With your low mileage per year I would go every 2 years unless something acute comes up.

Used car prices are out of control here. The 100k rebate a few years back should lower the prices a lot, but for some reason the market hasn't adjusted yet.
So 500k car new, 100k rebate = real cost 400k. That car should go 2nd hand after 2 years no more than 300k, and after 5 no more than 200-250k. But they are still asking 300k+ for these cars althugh 5+ years! Sick!
With the 100k rebate you have to keep the car at least five years before you can sell it or otherwise give back the rebate if you sell early. The scheme started September 2011 from memory, and only for cars up to 1500cc
The 1500 cc limit was for passenger vehicles only, and pick ups didnt have that limit.
The market still failed to adjust, as there were plenty of 2008-2011 vehicles without the rebate, and their prices did not adjust at all, where they should have dropped a lot.
The market was flooded with new vehicles, with very little demand for the older cars. Natural reaction would have been that the old ones would have cheapened a ton, especially when families had 2 vehicles and could barely afford them. All these factors should have meant a big downward spiral for the 2nd hand car prices, but no.

I guess you haven't been in Thailand long... prices for late model used cars, especially under 1 million when new have come down a lot the past couple of years, compared to the days when sellers expected 90% of the new price for a two or three year old car.
Thanks for that, but it doesnt explain why the older cars are are almost double the price in the uk.
Cars in Thailand start off being much more expensive when new than in UK so that is obviously reflected in their used price.
Not true. Cars here start at 400k, and pick ups at 500k. Put that 100k rebate on them and you are clearly wrong. The cars just dont drop any value although they should.

I saw just now a 20 year old car (Isuzu Van) 2.8 have a ask price of 215k. What a joke. In the West that car would be max 40k baht.
If your plan is to own a car for 5+ years, buy a new car. If your plan is to have it less than that, rent it. You can get ones for 10-20k month easily, without the need to worry about maintanance, insurance, taxes or tires.

Tow bars in general cause a lot more neck injuries. The reason for this is that because they are directly connected to the chassis, there is no bumper slowing down the impact, and your neck will receive the full impact.
I would not keep a tow bar in my car at times I am not using it. Thus removable tow bars.

I was there with a Thai (sirocco get off your knees!) who was disgusted with the horses and the shit. This was a month ago.
I noticed that the riders did not collect the shit, they just hid it under the sand. Think about your kid playing with the sand there.. disgusting.
u
Another thing is that the horses can be quite dangerous while the tourists ride them. Young kids running unaware on the beach that a heavy animal is coming controlled by an inexperienced rider. I wonder how many accidents are there?
Get the horses out of the beach IMO.

Do most shops have the tire installation costs included in the tire prices?
What if a customer comes with his own pre-purchased tires, how much do the shops charge for installation, tube valve balance, and possibly aligment? Pickup. The old rims would be used.

Went in at 8 am, left before noon. Packed as usual.
I have a plane ticket out of Bangkok on the 2nd of June. My stamp ends on the ~20th of May. What's my best option to extend the stamp by ~15 days. I am not sure if Mae Sai is not an option anymore. Fly in and out to HongKong/Mandalay?

Go to any recycle merchant and you should find one easy.
Could you or anyone point one around Hang Dong? Thanks!

Anyone know a second hand electronic shop that might have these? Or anyone upgrade their aircon and still has the old broken one?
-
I would ask another local reliable mechanic for a quote as well. I assume your car is not under warranty anyway, so it doesn't matter too much where you take the car as long as they know what they are doing.
You could get a quote for 8k somewhere else, and then squeeze the Toyota's price to ~12k, and then decide where you wanna take it. The quoted priced are not final prices.
-
Local school needs a (broken) aircon for demonstration purposes
Where could one be found in Chiang Mai ? Max 200 baht, can arrange transportation,
PM if you have or no where to get one. Doesn't need to be operational.

like most things these days they are made in China. I doubt Momo would put their name on absolute rubbish though so possibly they are a decent tyre.
I see many things butchered after being rebranded, but Momo might not be, according to the reviews.
It's hard to find cheap tires online where you can order and have them delivered. Which is a shame, prices in the regular shops lack transparency. Lazada doesn't seem to sell many brands or sizes either.
Bedwetting alarm for a child?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Hi
A friend is looking for a bedwetting alarm for a child, where to find one in Chiang Mai?
Does any hospital or clinic sell/rent these things? Or do you want what is called in Thai?
Something like this, preferably a bigger sheet version : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alarm-Bedwetting-Training-Children-Moisture/dp/B01667E9LG
