  1. Thank you for your response about this problem and its a much bigger problem than I ever realized and being covered up as most things are in Thailand

"Loss of Face " and all that crap......Just put their heads in the sand & hope the problem will go away.wai.gif

  2. I have been living in Bang Chang area for the last 2 years, my health has been on the decline since I first moved here.

A Dr I know that works in BKK Rayong hospital told me last Saturday night that the air quality in this area is very bad, including all of the Rayong area, Mattaputt and Bang Chang and looks as if its a big cover up.

I really like living here but I'm going to move for my health reasons. I first came to Bang Chang over 10 years ago and like most places it has changed with

" progress" for the want of a better word.

I'm not knocking this area but just putting up a warning to other members about it.wai.gif

  3. I'm in a similar situation to the op.

I have been living in Bang Chang for the past 2 years, but I have had a lot of ill health since I came here. Last Saturday night I spoke with a Dr that works at BKK Rayong Hospital. I asked him about the pollution and air quality here and he informed me that " Its very bad" and advised me to move away from this area of Rayong, Mattaputt and Bang Chang............Once again the government is doing a great "COVER UP" about the problem.

So I am moving >>>> Not yet sure, but the wife comes from Korat, so that is an option because she owns a house there, she can also return to her work as a teacher, but there are always problems in the air. It seems her Ex husband is upset if we move back to Korat.. He is a high profile Thai and will no doubt loose face if the other Thai's see his wife has chosen an old Aussie.

My loss is the fact that I love the beach and water.wai.gif

  4. this sums up the problems of Modern Thailand ..ignorance and stupidity

This one is for Terry the moderator.

    What's up with you?

You give me a warning for misuse of Shinawatra family names which you said was a post which uses aberrant spellings of politician's names and for insulting the intelligence of other members (Farang) on Thai Visa (Called a poster an idiot).

But at the same time you and many of the moderators on ThaiVisa continuously ignore posts such as Terry's above stating that all Thai's are ignorant and stupid.

Everything I said about Thaksin is true and most intelligent people know it and agree but you would not allow me to say that a Farang's comment was idiotic but Farangs on this site can continuously say that Thais are stupid and ignorant as if it was understood and true.

As you and other moderators continuously accept comments like these about Thai people you have established by default that ThaiVisa accepts the idea that speaking about Thais in this manner is the accepted standard on ThaiVisa which I have noticed for a very long time is the case.

As a moderator, in my opinion, you must ask yourself if one....you are being fair and equitable to both members on this site and Thais who have allowed your residence here....two....did you stop me for what I said or because you responded emotionally and felt I should be stopped (power trip)....and three....treat Thais who you are a guest of in their nation with a little more respect than that they are all stupid and ignorant.

I think that this is a fair and honest response to you and this ThaiVisa forum and worth sharing with the members and the public as a whole.

Let's see if you have the balls and integrity to leave it up for the other posters here to judge.

    Good post

  5. I just received a reply from the Rutnin clinic - that was quick - I was expecting to have to wait several days.

    Anyway, FYI

Thank you very much for being interested in our hospital. Regarding your question about Cataract Surgery, all of our surgeons do Cataract Surgery with the Phaco Emolsification Method. The estimated cost of the operation is aboutTHB 60,000-65,000 per eye (not including the medication). However, the patient needs to come to the hospital for a primary eye check up first (THB 1,500-2,000). If the operation is needed, it can be done on the next day.

Full deposit of total estimated surgery cost requires to be placed on surgery date.

After surgery, the patient needs to stay in Bangkok for 1-2 weeks for the post operative follow up. Hospital admission is not needed for this type of surgery.

For patients who require a short hospital stay after surgery, we provide modern and comfortable rooms, including private or VIP, and with 24 hour nursing care.

We have 4 kinds of rooms:

Shared rooms THB 3,050 per day

Standard rooms THB 4,650 per day

Deluxe rooms THB 5,050 per day

VIP rooms THB 7,000 per day

Please inform us of convenient dates and times in order to make an appointment for you. You may contact us by email at: [email protected] or by telephone at (66)2 639-3300 Extension 1 or 619 (press “1” or “619”).

    Best regards,

    Information Department

Here is a good example of inflation in Thailand.

One year ago January 2013, I wrote to Rutnin and asked for the cost of Cataract surgery on one eye, the reply was 41,000B, now they are saying 60 to 65,000B. Also tell you friend to double check his appointment. I made a appointment to see a certain Dr, I did this by email which was confirmed, I phoned the day before to check on my appointment only to be told that they had no record of my appointment....<deleted>,

  6. There ar many autoparts shops along Sukhumvit.

The one you have the biggest chance of finding your part is located on the right side of sukhumvit in Naklua, at the third traffic lights when heading direction Laem Chabang.

Be aware that they have a double pricing policy though.

If you just keep on driving just around the bend there is a large second hand auto parts centre , no double pricing and very helpfull ,you cant miss it its a very large place with parts outside

re i claudius post, is this shop on the left or right side going towards Laem Chabang?

  7. Having buyer's remorse, before I stepped on the plane to Penang I checked Bangkok Hospital for price of a CT angiogram. Firstly, on the holiday (and maybe always) there were significant language obstacles.

"What is the price for a CT angiogram?"

    'For what?'

    "Lungs"

'One moment please... A CT of chest is THB15, 270'

"How much is a CT angiogram, the multi-slice image of heart only."

    'One moment please... THB25,000' (USD811)

Once in Penang I called Lao Guan Lye Specialists Hospital. Staff told me price is what worked out to USD483.

So, one can fly to Penang on Air Asia, enjoy the vastly superior food, have almost no language problems , deal with people whose brains seem to be wired very similarly to Caucasians, maybe even enjoy some entertainment and shopping too - and still save money. Go for multiple checkups, tests and procedures and it is a bargain.

Thai governmental leaders and economists, are you listening? You lost me as a customer for nightlife ten years ago. And for medical five years ago.

I agree with what you say......Thailand cost is going out of control, not only for medical but also the general cost of living.
