I think we have to look at the bigger picture here. Maybe Soi 6 is targeted because the marathon route takes the runners close to this, the most decadent soi; hence the new 6pm opening time. The authorities wouldn't want all the thousands of spectators, especially the quality Chinese and Russians, seeing what actually goes on in the city would they?! Or the TV cameras with their prying telephoto equipment showing the world another side to sporting Pattaya.

 

After the big day things will slide pretty much back to normal. Until  F1 comes along!!

 

forget the marathon. because of heat they start about 03.30, it's all pretty much done by 08 00 /09 00.

they are blaming a tropical depression vamco which arrived in thailand in mid september 2015 via vietnam where it used up most of it's power. however i started a thread inc copious pics on another forum on the destruction of the bali hai marina in mid january of 2015.

2 or 3 telacs in tow with falangs but otherwise almost zero thai's. i counted them in as they go through the security check door.

i was down that way by bali hai yesterday and did an accurate count of the number boarding although who sat in economy or business i couldn't say but tuesdays total departing pattaya at the new time of 10.00 hrs was 76 souls. almost all of them falangs

i found a samsung note smart phone daytime buakaow last year at the edge of the road. a busy bit must have been there only seconds.

went to a nearby bar to try and work it and find out the owner but all in thai, pic of a girl but that was it. after about 15 mins it rings and i give it to staff to tell caller i'm here come n get it. shortly after a couple of calls cos they give poor directions a TG shows up and throws herself on the floor at my feet giving me the wahs. i couldn't get her up and boy was it embarrassing,  till i said ok you want to pay for my 1 beer. she was so happy bought my beer 3 drinks for the staff and unknown to me another 3 beers behind the bar.

she had thought it was gone and it's not just the phone its all the numbers etc on the sim card

under central festival 110 bht for a 1 kg bag

150 bht to get in but well worth the walk to get there saturday.

many many more cars than the parade and 60 bht for a chang at the temp garden bar at the asia pattaya worked for me a couple of times

a peak into the car park below as the ventilation system is installed

skyfall gogo is open again but the front sign is less than perfect.

clearly not from pattaya this evening

went by tonight. all power to walking st back up and running.

rock st/blue sky shut with fire damage with seat of the blaze as far as i could see at the front/outside of the building which now has replaced concrete power poles and new transformer.

small thai shop between it and skyfall also shut/damaged.

skyfall gogo shut/damaged.

otherwise walking st business as usual

till last june 15th 2016 it was a gogo called casnovy that had been there 9 years.

it opened after a total demolish/rebuild at the start of sept 2016 as rock street by blue sky, a live music venue.

checking my photo archives the transformer in the street outside was not re-newed at that time and i have no idea how long it had been in use

since 1988 never been asked for such information inc last tuesday

Another trick is to just bend over. They think you are picking up a stone to throw. I used that method many times on packs of dogs when jogging in the tobacco factory grounds near Benjakiti Park in Bangkok. It worked every time.

the fake stone is very effective, all the thai dogs here have attended the same school and know what is coming next when i thai bloke picks one up for real

got there about 09 25 bit of a wait.............44 numbers in front.............but done by about 10 40.

right now there is only the 1 ferry and as i looked out the window at 09 00 monday morning it is back at the berth in bali hai

it is now.

nothing other than the 3 raft fittings.

i've seen a you tube vid of it in china and everything looks the same

as far as those life raft holders are concerned i have seen the ship up close and there are 4 on the starboard side and 3 portside.

i can see bali hai port from my room.

it left pattaya saturday afternoon at 15 07 presumably for hua hin.

sunday it failed to make the return journey to start the next cycle.

as dark falls it is still not back so i guess the trip from hua hin was either cancelled or aborted due to sea conditions.
