  1. Hey just wondering if anyone knows of a Thai Language school offereing Ed Visa course that is close so Sathon?

    And importantly one that either does lessons on the the weekend or in the morning during the week.

    I checked TLS but they only have week day evening courses. Walen looks like they do saturday courses but if any closer it would be ideal

    Thanks in advance

  2. Our true vision HD box doesn't work this evening;

    - Tried checking the cables (all seem fine)

    - Called the help desk (no staff on duty), got automated message that said turn off the power > wait for the true logo to appear then press exit > a box to enter a pin appears > enter the pin and all should be ok;

    Well did that, but pressing exit does nothing. tried again with ok instead still no joy. also tried holding down the button, tapping the button continually, and single tap. no joy

    any idea how to run the update?

    I'm on firmware 202 i think latest update is 401 (i think)

    The true site gives this info

    http://www.truevisionstv.com/photo/download/Upgrade_SolfwareHD_401.pdf

    which i followed not getting past the logo part tho.... help!!!

  3. Hey Guys,

    I have a single Entry ED visa which I got in April. I need to get it restamped for another 3 months in July (which all seems straight forward).

    However I wish to exit before that time as have a little work to do abroad.

    Pretty much have all the information from searching the forums however I have a couple questions I'm not sure on;

    1) If i get a re-entry permit how long can I exit for (if it matters)? ideally i'd be gone a month

    2) I was thinking i'd get the restamp in july for another 3 months, leave a couple days after, then return before that 3 months expires.. is that acceptable? or would i need to start again and get another ED visa?

    Cheers

  4. Hezbollah and Palestine? Where you making this stuff up from? Hezbollah is from Lebanon, Palestinians live in the area occupied by the Israelis since 1948 called Palestine. I fail to see your connection. Ah maybe i do....they're both Muslim!

    Thats correct, I never said it Hezbollah was from Palestine. My connection was why would Hezbollah want to target a country who has just recognised Palestine as a state when Hezbollah also support a palestinian state.

  5. They recognized Palestine and the Hezbollah government,

    so Thailand wouldn't be hassled by them.

    Tons of Hezbollah zealots in Lebanon.

    Exactly what I was thinking. They recognised them at the UN a couple days before the 'terroisst' warning, so no reason for Labanon or Iran to be involved, especially when they have their own problems in the middle east.

    Another coincidence is I've seen a surprisingly higher number of Isrealies in town recently

  6. Hey,

    I need to deposit some cash into Thanachart bank today. I was hopening to last night (using the deposit atms) however when getting to the first few branches there wasnt a deposit machine (and sadly it was after 7pm so the branch was shut)/

    Do you know any in bangkok that are open on the weekend? and / or do you know if they have deposit machines anywhere in bangkok for this bank

    cheers

  7. As said local Consulates normally will not issue more than single entry 90 day ED visa. If this is for part time language study that is definitely all they will issue. You extend your stay every 90 days at immigration in such case. No you could not apply for a one year visa with your current passport.

    Ok great this is making sense;

    So signup to language school for 6 months, get paperwork and get ED visa for 90 day at local consulate, then get the new passport and after the course is up do one for a year?

  8. I thought you were getting and ED visa? Now you are talking about tourist visa? Or are you not in possession of paperwork for the ED for a couple months? If that is the case yes you must obtain the visa now that you have six months remaining on passport (none issued after goes below) and you can enter without ticket and stay up to 90 days (60 + 30) or until you have paperwork for ED and new passport to obtain it in.

    Yes sorry about that I thought you where refering to a tourist visa - my fault.

    Ok so, no paper work yet, but am sorting it at the moment. Could in theory apply for a 1 year ED visa even tho my passport expires in October?

    Or do i pay the school for a year first, get them to do the paper work, get the ED visa (60 + 90), re-enter and get new passport job done?

    Thanks for the help

  9. Local Consulates will not normally issue more than a single entry (90 day) visa so should not be an issue. Get the visa, get the new passport.

    Ah ok thanks, so I just take a flight to some bordering country and apply for a single entry 90 day tourist visa in that country... what will they need to know regarding flights?, as at that stage I'll only have a ticket back into thailand

  10. Hey Guys,

    Ok I'm kind of thinking out loud here, and have a few questions on tourist visas.

    I'm going to be applying for a years ED visa but unfortunatly my passport runs out this year (My current non-im O visa expires in march).

    I dont really want to go back to the UK to get a new passport and know I can get one via hong kong - this was all well and good but if I apply now i run the risk of not getting a new one back in time for me to exit and get the ED visa.

    So my questions are;

    - If I get a flight out for a weekend somewhere close (prior to sending my passport off), can I extend the 30 day visa on arrival in thailand?

    - If I need to get a 60 day tourist visa outside of thailand how does that work with flights, as technically I wont be needing a flight back to the uk as I'd exit to somewhere close to get the ED visa after once the new passport arrives

    - Is there another option?

    --- update ----

    I just thought my passport expires in october, so could I for example get a 6 month ED visa now, then when I re-enter send off for the new passport?

    Thanks as always for the help

  11. Hey, I need to do a visa run fairly soon, and looking at the developments with the flooding it looks like it could get interesting.

    Does anyone know if the route from bangkok to cambodia is currently flooded, or at least moving towards that way?

    Also if it is indeed flooded or going that way, any ideas and another border crossing to try?

    I'm guessing worst case scenario I could get a flight out somewhere.

    Thanks in advance

  12. Why fly back to the UK, you can get a visa in the local area from a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate.

    Exactly! I thought the visa ended in December and the price for a ticket to the UK over christmas is a lot higer than normal.

    The guys above pointed out that if i do a border run just before it expires I can get a stamp for 3 months, then worry about what I'm doing next.

    and if i decide to return to the UK the price will be cheaper in feb / march

  13. Hey thanks,

    Thats the reason I asked for multi-entry from countries close to thailand.

    UK, States and Australia are no problem for getting multi-entry ED visas (based on the consulate websites), however I don't really want to have to travel to any of those places if posible, would quite like to find somewhere in asia.

    ... or maybe im reading the sites wrong?
