There's every indication that Chaengwattana BKK is and will honor the 6 month validity of income letters.

But this is Thai Immigration and we're in somewhat uncharted waters, so I'd pay close attention to member reports coming out of CW this month and next, just to be sure.

Thank you for your prompt reply back to me. I will certainly monitor the site here for member reports on this subject to guide me on what I can expect.

The information I got is that they will still accept the income letters from the embassies through their validity.

I got my income affidavit notarized by the US Embassy here in Bangkok on November 30, 2018. I was told by the embassy at the time that the letter (income affidavit) I executed (and they notarized) would be valid for 6 months from date of issuance. That would mean it's valid until May 31, 2018.  My Retirement Visa renewal is scheduled for March 31, 2019. I'm hearing conflicting reports from people who've been to different Thai Immigration centers. Some say they won't accept the letter in 2019 at all. Is there any credible source that can definitely tell me if I can use my November 30, 2018 letter (income affidavit) in March 2019 when I renew my Retirement Visa? Thanks in advance for anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

Lame timing on the part of the US Embassy. Had they made this statement in Septemeber, at least people would have had time to transfer and age the required 800,000 baht bank deposit. Now some of the people who must renew in January and February are screwed.

How are they screwed? ????They can still get an Income Affidavit notarized NOW, and it's still good for 6 months after issuance. It's all in black and white (see attachment). If they get it next month November 2018, it'll be good until April 2019. People who have to renew in January and February 2019 will still be covered.

  4. Hello group!

I have a simple question I'm hopeful some veteran will be able to help me with.

I shipped a package from Bangkok to a friend in care of the Pattaya hotel he's staying in. My friend is a registered guest, and I clearly addressed his name in "care of" the hotel. I shipped the package via Thailand Post Registered Mail where signature is required to effectuate delivery.

When I check Thailand Post tracking, I see the package was out for delivery. The last entry next to "Delivery Status" states "Re Delivery." I've attached a screen shot of the actual current Thailand Post tracking results.

What does this "Re Delivery" mean? Will Thailand Post attempt to "redeliver" the package to my friend at the hotel?

When I formally shipped the package, I advised my friend to email and telephone the hotel to put them on actual notice that he was expecting a package there.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me what I should tell my friend. He's experiencing some angst now.

  5. I would like to report on my experiences with Woodtichai Uooncamme of "Help Service" or IT HOUSE.

It was absolutely WONDERFUL. Khun Woody is a consumate professional and customer service is his specialty. He is a very polite gentleman who knows Apple computers inside and out.

He replaced my friend's Apple Macbook Pro keyboard and did a thorough cleaning and repair. The cost was THB 3500. The entire process from start to finish too about 2 hours. VERY fast IMO.

I highly recommend those experiencing Apple computer issues to see this gentleman.

IT HOUSE is store number 363 and is located on the 3rd floor of Pantip Plaza.

Khun Woody can be reached by telephone at 085-100-0811 or 087-246-6660. His email address is [email protected] if you need it.

  6. Address change with Kasikorn Bank can be done easily through Internet banking, under profile, you do need the one time password number which is issued to the phone number registered to your account simple process and takes effect immediately! however to change my Passport number and the telephone number for receipt of the one time passwords, I had to download the forms through internet banking then print fill them in and go to the branch where the account is held, lodge the forms show new passport and they said it would take 5 days to change then I would receive an email confirmation, of the changes made and an sms to my new phone number to confirm its use for internet banking (South Pattaya Branch).

Hope this info may be of use to someone, I just did mine Monday Dec 3rd.

    Regards BW

Sorry I haven't checked back here in so long. YOU, sir, have been very helpful. Since I have changed my telephone number, I will follow the steps you have outlined for me. You've been a Godsend. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! wai2.gif

  7. You can simply issue yourself a new K-Web shopping card through your online banking interface. Easy.

    smile.png

I looked for a "renewal" link in my Kasikorn Banking interface, and I can't seem to find it.

Are you saying it would be easier to apply and receive a "new" K-Web card? Would I have to go through all of the verification process like my original one?

Also, theoldgit stated above his was automtically renewed. There seems to be a difference in approach. Obviously, the "easiest" would be the automatic renewal. rolleyes.gif

Thanks so much for your imput. I appreciate it greatly.

  8. Mine was automatically renewed, they didn't actually notify my me, I noticed a new expiry date and security number on my account details page on their website.

If you have a debit card with Kasikorn, you can now register to use that, via an ATM, for use online, this means it can be used to buy flight tickets where a physical needs to be produced.

Thank you so very much for responding to my question. I was a bit worried I wouldn't have a replacement or renewed K-Web Shopping Card by the end of the month!

I do indeed have a Kasikorn debit card. I had no idea that I could register to use this, via an ATM, for use ONLINE! Is it an easy process?

When you state this (the debit card) can be used online for airline tickets "where a physical needs to be produced," do you mean PHYSICAL ADDRESS? I just want to make sure.

Also, is it difficult to make a change of address with Kasikorn Bank? I haven't been at the address I originally opened my account at in December 2010.

I wonder if I can do effectuate this online or do I need to go to the branch where I opened my account.

I want to change my registered address to my P.O. box.

I wonder if I can do that.

Not sure if you'll ever come back to the thread, but once again I'm very grateful you took the time to read and respond to my post.

    Have a GREAT Saturday!

  9. U.S government money would be better spent working on ways to encourage BUSINESS money back into the U.S. rather than incur the enormous cost of monitoring and chasing little expats all the time. But that would require our government to think.

    Agree 100%!

USSA needs to fund the allmighty War Machine and Welfare State, so they'll do their very best to hunt all of us expats down one by one to fleece what little money we have.

  10. I realize this is a rudimentary question, but I couldn't find the answer by either Googe or the Kasikorn Bank website.

I've had a K-Web Shopping Card for 2 years, and my expiration date is at the end of this month December 2012.

Having this virtual on-line credit card has really been great! Linked to my Kasikorn Bank account, it allows me the freedom to make on-line purchases, etc.

I want to continue to use it.

    My question is this.

How do I RENEW this card?

Will Kasikorn Bank email me notice and instructions on how to do it?

    Will it automatically be renewed?

Will I have to apply for a NEW card and go through the whole process again?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance for reading my inquiry.

  11. Here is the link to the petition being sent to Congress and President Obama.

    http://signon.org/si...cp&r_by=6294369

Good luck with that. Obama has already been reported to have decreed "mine the expats". Face it - we're an easy political target across the spectrum in the US; almost viewed as 'pseudo traitors', at the least viewed with envy and suspicion.

    +1

Obummer wants to punish those of us who had the foresight to escape the imploding USSA. It's like we're slaves who ran away from the plantation.

  12. As with the income affidavit, the Residence Certificate isn't. It's merely an affidavit, sworn before a Consular officer. They in no way certify anything, except your identity (by seeing your passport). It is accepted by the Thai Department of Land Transportation for getting a driver's licence or registering a vehicle in your name. $50 for EACH affidavit, and you must have the original for the licence, and another one for the car registration.

Note that if you're here on any one-year extension, or an O-A visa, and have already done a 90-day report, Immigration is supposed to give you the Certificate of Residence for free. In practice, some offices do, and others charge a nominal fee. For some reason, Chaeng Wattana has only one officer who can/will do it, and she has an attitude. She asks for 100 baht (for 'postage'), and says it takes three weeks. I got mine back in FIVE weeks, with a 37 baht EMS stamp on it - and, of course, no change.

Thank you very much for chiming in on this topic. You have been very helpful to me and perhaps others who could use this knowledge! th_smileys-drinking-beer.gif?t=1321588787

  13. Have not done but a quick look at website indicates:

    2. Yes

    3. You are responsible for filling out form and you sign it. Do not believe Embassy is interested in other paperwork.

    4. No. But if living here it would be a good idea.

    5. $50 or about 1,500 baht I believe.

Lopburi, you are simply DA BOMB! th_an_boggienight.gif

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my "newbie like" questions! th_an_clap.gif

  14. Hello everyone! jap.gif

I am a US Citizen living here in Bangkok. I need to get a Certificate of Residence in order to apply for my Thai driver's license. I plan on going to the US Embassy here in Bangkok for this.

These should be some relatively easy questions to answer for any veterans here who have gone to the US Embassy here in Bangkok for this particular document.

    1) Is there a "standard" form the US Embassy uses for this? I would assume so, but just want to make sure. Does anyone know where I can find an example of what the form looks like? Is it in reality, a Letter from the US Embassy? What does the US Embassy issue? The Cerificate of Residence or is it Letter from the US Embassy? th_think2.gif I'm mixed up on the title of the document I will be getting at the US Embassy. crazy.gif

    2) Is the Cerificate of Residence or Letter from the US Emabassy notarized? th_think2.gif

    3) Other than my current USA Passport and Thai Non-Immigrant Visa (retirement,) do I need to bring my current apartment lease evidencing I do indeed live here in Bangkok?

    4) Do I need to be registered with the US Embassy in order to get this document? th_think2.gif

    5) What is the total cost of getting this document? th_think2.gif

I just want to make sure I know everything about this subject before I make an on-line appointment with the US Emdassy for "notarial or other services."

Thanks to anyone who's gone this route willing to take a moment to answer my questions. I appreciate it greatly! th_an_cheers.gif?t=1318072024

  15. I can only advise people who come the first time to Thailand. Try one of the other 160 countries left in the world for visit holiday or retirement. Thailand don't want YOU!! There must be other countries which are nicer more beautiful and respectful to visitors, tourist and ex-pats!! Thailand is on the hunt to take all you brought in and than spit you out if you don't leave quick enough according to them! This is the real reason to sharpen visa regulations.Be warned!! Where in many countries they are fighting to die-out racism, apartheid, violating human right, Thailand are introducing them!

Wow, you are really going off the deep end with this rant!

  16. Children under 15 don't pay overstay anyways

I've read and reread this thread... Where did this answer come from? I don't see the relevance of it

To the OP, even if it's the "expiry" type (ie one year from issue), as terak (and I think someone else) pointed out, it's really 15 months, that is if you leave and reenter before the date of expiry because you get a further 90 days from that date.

Jdietz was chiding me for asking such a relatively simple question. I've always been taught there if I don't know or understand something, ask a question! This is a learning experience for me.

    brainiac1-1.jpg?t=1298225429

He probably is a brainiac about all of this visa stuff and has no time for my simplistic question.

Thank you for responding and pointing out this is in reality a 15 month long visa. I appreciate you reinforcing this notion for me.

  17. Apples and oranges and we don't know which you are getting. There is a non immigrant O and a non immigrant O-A visa. The O-A provides a one year stay from date of entry (as the Consulate seems to have told you). But a non immigrant O only provides a 90 day stay on each entry and in both cases the visa itself becomes valid from date of issue. Last entry of a multi entry visa will be one year from date of issue.

I believe it is the non-immigrant "O." I apologize for the confusion I may have caused you.

What I'm looking for is what Maestro wrote:

The multiple-entry non-O visa is valid for an unlimited number of entries into Thailand from the date of issue of the visa until one day before the "must be utilized before date". You will see these two dates stamped on the visa. On each arrival in Thailand, you will receive permission to stay for 90 days.

I think Maestro pegged it correctly with the little chart he made for me. I'm using that as my "gameplan" so to speak. hoist.gif?t=1298224154

    Z-ThailandVisa.jpg?t=1298224807

Actually, here is what the Thai Consulate here in USA wrote to my specific question on this:

    ..............................................................................................

    1. I am cognizant of the fact that a Thai Non-Immigrant Type "O" Multi Entry 1 Year Visa mandates that I phisically leave the Kingdom of Thailand after 90 days from my initial entry. Since my initial entry will be April 1st, then 90 days hence will be June 29th. Then, when I return into Thailand , I am granted an additional 90 days. At the end of the subsequent 90 day period, I must again leave and repeat the process.

Is this correct? Please advise. Thank you.

    1. Yes, you do have to leave every 90 days. Most just go across the border for a day trip.

    ......................................................................

Apparently what I am going for is the multiple entry 1 year non-immigrant type "O."

I only wanted to know when I should send in my application, fees, photo to the Thai Consulate to maximize the amount of time I can have in Thailand on this visa.

I think Maestro really nailed it and showed me it is better to send in my materials closer to my actual departure date.

I apologize to you and the rest of the group for my nervousness on such a relately simple procedure.

    s10317.gif?t=1298224237

  18. See below what difference it can make whether the visa is issued on 27 FEB 2011 or 20 MAR 2011.

    post-21260-0-94060900-1298142152_thumb.g

Thank you so very much for providing me with this chart. It is invaluable, and really shows me that I need to make my application on or about 20th March!

I know you put some work into it for me. I really don't know how to repay except say THANKS! handshake.gif?t=1298143471

If you're in BKK, I would love to buy you a beer after I've settled in.
