  1. Is it just me, or do 98% of truck, car, or boat crashes result in the driver "running away".  <deleted> is up with that?  Virtually everywhere else in the world fleeing the scene of an accident where there are injuries/damage is a serious crime.  But, here, it seems you can claim you were "scared" and later wai and, hey, no problem :-(

The government says they want to crack down on reckless drivers and dangerous conditions - well, harshly punishing those that flee the scene of accidents would help to send the right message.

  2. “If it was wrongly assembled, it was the dead workers who were installing it,” Suebpong said. “They were installing the crane, then the accident happened.”

However, he stressed that police have yet to ascertain the cause of the accident.

When will the police here learn that it's best to keep your mouth shut until you are certain what the heck is going on first?  This guy is suddenly an engineer and can make a valid conclusion based on what experience or evidence?  It seems that they like to act like big shots when a camera is in their face and can't resist trying to sound like an expert whose job it is to share their great knowledge with the "dimwitted public".

Just say "it's a tragedy, and we are working hard to determine the cause and we will keep you posted" and then go do your job.

RIP to the workers, who will unfortunately be quickly forgotten (and, most likely blamed, as el Capitano has already laid the groundwork)

He didn't apologise to the 5 year old boy because he's not actually sorry. He only apologised to anyone he thought could help him get off.

This guy should not be allowed anywhere near children or women, etc. He's clearly a psychopath a sociopath.

Lock him up for a long time. He can pray to inanimate objects in his cell.

    well said...

You'd think that after living here 10 years that he'd be used to it! BTW - why didn't his Thai wife question the bill for him? Oh yeah I forgot - doctors (in this country) are always right!

I will never forget, about 4 years ago, I told my doctor at Bumrungrad Hospital that I would like a copy of my test results so that I could forward them back home to my father, whose best friend is an extremely prominent physician in the field.  The doctor went absolutely crazy and acted like a 3 year old..."I told you the problem!"  "You don't trust me?!?!"  "You think you know better than me!?!!"    I am not exaggerating when I say that it was an absolutely embarrassing scene to witness.  However, even more frightening is the fact that most Thai people (based on my 6 years of experience here) would have (A) never told their doctor that they wanted a second opinion or (B) if they had the gumption to indicate they wanted a second opinion, they would have succombed to the notion that "a person in power is always right" and not gotten a second opinion when the doctor threw a hissy fit.

I looked at the doctor after she was done acting like a baby and said "thank you for your opinion.  I'd like my files now, and I'd like to inform you that I will be making arrangements to transfer to another primary physicians" which I did immediately thereafter.
