  2. Hi,

Im coming to Pattaya on Oct 7th for around 6 weeks and im looking to rent a nice condo in Central Pattaya, im thinking The Urban,The Pride,Nova Avenue Residence (where i usually stay) etc.....

    Struggling to find somewhere currently..

All i want is a clean, modern apartment, non smoking and wireless internet..

    Appreciate any help...

    Thanks.....

  3. Thanks for all the input guys

Pattaya is like anywhere else - just keep your wits about you and you will be fine. You would probably be marginally safer in a hotel or B&B, rather than an apartment as you may have some help/advice available nearby, and not completely alone. Also, many of these establishments have some form of security on duty at night.

There are plenty of well documented scams, just use the search function on the many forums available and you will know what to avoid.

Avoid getting so drunk that you do not know who and where you are - most problems occur when people get in this state.

The best advice I can give you is to make sure you put all your valuables in a room safe, so book a room that has one of these, and don't carry too much cash around with you - same as anywhere else in the World.

    Relax and enjoy yourself!

Ive just come back to London after 3 months in Pattaya, doing pretty much exactly what youre looking to do,loads of gym, loads of fun,bit of travelling round Asia for visa runs....etc....

Been to Pattaya many times but this was the longest trip ive ever done.

    Rented a nice apartment,got a gym membership,trained hard,had loads of chicks,no aggro at all...ever....

Same as anywhere,if u go looking for grief you will find plenty of it in Pattaya.Ive never had a problem cos i just want to have a good time and not cause any trouble...

Never had any problems with girls coming back to my condo, usual common sense stuff applies,ie dont leave docs/cash lying around and i always find never telling people too much about your plans etc helps....

    Have fun mate....:)

One key point I picked up on and was a concern for me was hotels vs apartment rent.

I think apartment could be cheaper but hotels are better for a few reasons.

    1. Ability to pick up and go if something happens. I get a stalker, get bad situation, wanna move town..who knows lol..but no long term rented commitments.

    2. Girls wont think/know I am here long term. If I have apartment they come to they most likely know I am not here just for few days....which could be a bad thing? depends. I mean I can lie to girls about my length off stay etc....

    3. Having hotel workers, receptionist, security, main desk etc,,,it should feel a bit safer than some unknown apartment? But I think some apartments also have security etc?

Another point is I have head that even hotel workers..cleaners in rooms etc, will rob your valuables? Especially at hotels under 3 star and budget places?

I also heard that even if you put valubale such as cash, passport, credit cards etc...in hotel safe you can still be robbed by hotel? This seems a bit OTT. But thats what I heard.

I reckon if I put most valuable things in zip bags with key locks then maybe they woudlnt steal. However, they could still steal and destroy bag to open it. Maybe I am being OTT paranoid here.

As for girls coming round well I think maybe sleeping alone at night is best idea unless you really trust a girl. Or think you do ??? lol

Its not just a holiday to use girls though. Its a complete break from life for 3-4 months just chilling out. I do not plan to party 24/7 everyday. Moreso opposite. Which is why I wonder if Bangkok is a better choice. However I notice its much more expensive for hotels etc. So thats why Pattaya appeals to me. However iD ratehr be based in or near big city than on secluded island etc..Id feel safer in bigger cities. More anonymous. I have considered Chaing Mai also but that seems too quiet and more ideal for one off my trips.

This is just my thought and opinion, sure some will challenge me...

Depending on your budget and quality of life expectation,id go for a condo,i rented in a new build for 3 months,20000 baht a month against 60000 a month for the hotel i usually stay at for shorter trips...nice pool, security doors at reception etc.....

Condo had the advantage of a kitchen, amazing how much u can save if u cater at home, even just for brekkie...

Condo had security guards too, when they were awake lol...

I paid each month,so i only had a month to worry about each time...

I tended to get the bus to Bkk every 10 days or so for a few days change of scenery...worked well..

As for the ladies, had a few stalkers, but thats par for the course in Thailand...

I generally prefer to sleep alone,so thats what i usually did...

Never tell anyone your plans,no need for them to know...

Re trouble, ive been to Thailand over 25 times and never had any grief apart from a couple of rip offs in Patpong the first time i went and was a bit green...

Even with the girls, wherever u may meet them,if youre honest and upfront then everyone knows the score...

Next time i do this sabbatical thing i will stay in Bkk for the duration and visit Pattaya for breaks,i like both cities..

I had a great 3 months, saw loads of Asia too...

Have fun fella, you only live once...:)

  5. Try Areca Lodge in Soi Diana Inn,the new Evergreen wing is real nice and around 1800 per night....plasmas,etc.......

Always stay there and no complaints......

I didn't know they made plasmas that small

    http://www.arecalodg...age/luxury2.jpg

Looks like a 26" or maybe a 32" at a push. Who would put that in a new room instead of at least a 40/42" ?

Cheers for the heads up about the new wing though. Great location.

Welcome, great location and facilites agreed.....however,id imagine that a 32" plasma in Pattaya is the last thing on most peoples minds...;-)

Im sure they are 32"s...dont quote me on that tho...enjoy.....

  6. On my first visit to Bkk around 7 years ago i was in a Tuk Tuk and fell for the old trap of 'we just stop here u can look' routine.....he pulled up outside a tailors, and as i wore suits everyday back in London i thought id go take a look.....

I always thought having suits made to order was for 'other people',ie those with huge amounts of cash as in London u can easily pay £1000 plus for a hand made suit....

Anyway,24 hours later i had the most beautiful suit delivered to my hotel, double lined trousers, very well made and great material for less than id buy one off the peg back in London....

Since then ive had several suits made with varying results, even had 2 made at the same time from the same shop, one was great, the other total crap....

Have fun and choose carefully but theres no feeling like going to work in a suit that was made to fit.....

  7. Try Areca Lodge in Soi Diana Inn,the new Evergreen wing is real nice and around 1800 per night....plasmas,etc.......

Always stay there and no complaints......

Is that Evergreen as in Eva Air Evergreen ?

No,its just what they called their new wing, they have the Areca wing,Corona and the Evergreen....its the newest and nicest, tho the rest is also very nice too....google and check it out....

  8. it's pretty sad im the only person in this whole country who has noticed that 98.5% of murders and beatup in ANY major city comes from someone that is from Nakhon Sri Tammarrat ..

This is thailand's only problem, the gene pool from this province

My girlfriend is from Nakhon Si Thammarat, ill bear that fact in mind next time we have an argument laugh.gif

  9. Parker,

if you want to deal face to face, and in Thailand, try the china

town in bangkok. May be ask in the bkk forum ?

I know quite a dew guys dealing with the Chinese and they do

fly over and check the factories and goods. It's relatively cheap,

if your biz is serious ...

    Good luck,

    rudi

    Many Thanks Rudi,

Ill check it out when im next in Bkk...

    Regards,

    Parker....

  10. Hi Parker,

if you are looking for mass production, you might want to check out

http://www.alibaba.com/ - a portal to Chinese manufacturers and dealers.

Can find anything there ... I have had mixed experience over many years.

Be careful to communicate exactly what you want and get prototypes

    before any large order ...

If you are looking for a "one-off', just try any of the tailors on Sukhumvit

in Bangkok, or downtown Pattaya ....

    Cheers,

    rudi

    Thanks Rudi,

Ive looked at alibaba, always worries me dealing with unknown countries and manufacturers...always like to see what im buying, hence looking for a Thai manufacturer as im there so often....ill keep looking.....Thanks...

  11. Hi,

Tried this in the Bkk forum a few weeks ago and surprisingly little info available, so decided to try here.

Im looking for someone who can manufacture me some MMA shorts with my own design.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.....

  12. Was recently in Pattaya and had awful back pain that was affecting my everyday life, someone on TV recommended David Pack and he fixed the problem in 3 sessions,no hassle or follow ups needed.

    Genuinely nice guy too......

  13. Hi,

Not sure if this is in the right section or not but im looking for a manufacturer who can make MMA style shorts, either plain or if possible to print designs on them for me....

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Thanks...

  14. I think ive been incredibly lucky re flights, that or im easily pleased, maybe a bit of both....

Big things for me are nice food, which is in the airlines control, and having sensible people sitting around me,total potluck, again, what bothers one person doesnt trouble another.....

Stll love flying regardless.....so many have never had the chance to see other countries and cultures and never will........ill take a bad meal now and again for that wonderful opportunity......

  15. Having been fortunate enough ,or unfortunate, depending on your view,to have travelled extensively the last 2 years, mainly Lhr-Bkk i have experienced many different airlines...my Uk agent usually gives best prices on Thai or Eva,i find Thai better overall, however,i am an ipod and sleeping pill type of traveller, havent used IFE on a flight since i got my first ipod.

This trip Qantas came up cheaper,id heard bad reviews before, but the flight was one of the best ive ever had,i was fortunate to get a great seat, good food and staff and also, which i find can make or break a flight, the passengers in my immediate vicinity were well behaved,no seat bashing etc.

Flew Jet last year, great service, even tho its thru Mumbai, which makes u appreciate how civilised Thailand is....

Had amazing flights transatantic on both AA and Continental, when most people slaughter Us carriers, even Air Asia has been faultless....

Going off thread a touch, but i do think people do expect a little too much from a carrier sometimes, its a bus taking you from A to B.My biggest concern is good food, sensible passengers around me and dont lose my bag.....im quite happy with that and dont need pampering for 12 hours.....tho im sre some will disagree.....

As a previous poster commented,u can have good and bad flights on the same airline,2 passengers on the same flight could have 2 totally different views on the airline depending on how their flight was,the inflight meal i enjoy may not be to the taste of the person sitting next to me,does that make the food bad??so many variables.....for me,im 37 and still love getting on a plane and hope to continue to do so.....

Im off to London next week and after this post i will probably have a stinker of a flight........
