  1. On a motorbike I have found it is safer not to be in the slow lane. So many idiots slam their brakes, or others pull out right in front of you. I drive at a good clip between the middle of the fast lane to the left of the fast lane, with constant glances in the rear view for any kamikazes coming from behind.

I think one of the most dangerous spots is the slow lane entrance turning into market village...

  2. My thai wife's mom is in the hospital with terminal cancer and she is using her 30 baht health card up country. I heard that the medication is additional but not sure how much it would be discounted. I received a phone call that the 'farang' should pay and this is probably the worst month for me financially for this to happen. Is there any one that would have any idea how much this may would cost per day for a Thai with this health card? She doesn't look like she is going to make it and suddenly this phone call about the costs was thrown at me tonight.

Does anyone have any idea what is included or what to expect from an average hospital and the bill when this card is used ? Thank you very much.

  3. Banana IT in Hua Hin, fill out the spam collecting warranty card, but don't expect any customer service if something goes wrong, they will tell you to deal with the manufacturer,

  4. Yes, everything worked out with the exchange, working fine.

I sure hope that manager at Banana It enjoyed using her tiny bit of power to deny an exchange for one day only to have a pissed off customer and adding a complaint to her employee record.

Had a problem with an expensive outdoor light bulb that was purchased at home pro last year, not sure of the return policy there but the manager was very polite, and gave an immediate exchange even though i had it for months. And naturally I keep coming back and purchasing more and more from the store.

Most larger chain stores have good customer service, thats why this was so strange.

  5. I purchased a LG DVD recorder for my computer from Banana IT at Market Village, nice clean retail chain store, have purchased other items from their pantip store up in BKK.. Well, I installed the DVD recorder and it was DOA (Dead on Arrival). Bringing it back to the store with the receipt, box etc they tested it also. I was told that because it was 10 days since purchase they can not exchange it, (only up to 7 days).

Matter of fact, the manager told me the store can't do anything and I need to contact LG !

She then took a power supply and stuffed it into the box to hand back to me, without my receipt ... <deleted> ??? Finally I got my broken DVD player and receipt back while she continued to not take any of this seriously just laughing.

I gave her one more chance by explaining I am a customer, either exchange this now or I will contact your bosses and file a complaint about her attitude and actions. She laughed at me and said she has been here 3 years, you can't do anything.

Looking on the web it took about 1 minute to get their phone number on the website, and 5 minutes for my Thai wife to call and file a complaint. They assured us on the phone, a replacement would be given to us, and that this complaint will go on her employee record.. The next day my wife called to confirm with the head office and head down to the store. Amazingly, they were able to pull one of the 20 other new LG players off the shelf and exchange it, kissing major ass the whole time. Then their computer system went down and the manager and another employee started arguing who should be able to use the terminal first,. Ironically at that moment the head office called my wife to check on everything and got to hear the idiots in the background arguing...

  6. How come its the first time we hear of 169 missing Red Shirts? Where were the inquiries from family and friends over this allegedly missing people?

Red Shirts have been going on and on over the 92 people killed during their protest, but I haven't heard a pip about any missing persons.

I think this is a bone thrown to the Red Shirts (who are keen on feeding on dead people) to keep them fired up.

Not that I'm denying the existence of the bodies, but coming out and saying that this are missing Red Shirts doesn't sound believable to me.

Maybe this is the first time YOU heard of missing red shirts, the military slaughtered so many more protesters at the wat that night than the 'news' reported.

  7. Earlier this month we were at Central Bangna in Bangkok. While my wife was renewing her passport at the government office in that complex, I wandered through (the huge) Tops Market there. I thought I was back in the U.S.! The market was clean, uncluttered, and had items imported from around the world at (less than Villa Market) reasonable prices. There were many items from the U.S. that I have not seen anywhere else and their bakery section, meat and seafood section, and fresh vegetables and fruits sections were better stocked with fresher items than I've seen at any other store in Thailand. Made Tesco look like total crap and the Big C's I've been to (like the one in Petchaburi) are Tesco clones, certainly nothing special.

Where did the following chains originate anyway:

Tesco - (England is what I've heard?)

Big C (Carrefour) - (France is what I've heard?)

    Tops?

    Foodland?

Villa Market - (Thai family owned chain according to a friend who owns a restaurant here?)

We have two Tops here in Phuket, and do some shopping there, but no problem to manage without when we live in Hua Hin.

What I have missd in Hua Hin is Makro, but seems to be on rail now.

Makro and Villa Market basicly cover 90% of what we need

Yes, MAKRO at Pranburi are excellent along with the Tesco store there - no where as crowded as the one in HH.

Excellent fresh meat/fruit/veg at Makro with huge carpark. No requirement to enrol, just walk in. I use these two all the time now as I am on the south side of HH some 10kms from Market village. I suppose that another large 'chain' opening up in the HH area should, 'In theory' keep everybody on their toes; but only time will tell as I feel sure that they run a 'cartel' amongst themselves.

Do you need a membership card or be a registered business to shop at Makro? as in the UK you need to actually join, I guess so they can send you a load of marketing crap and junk mail ;-) and is it cheaper than Tesco etc? everybody seems to rave about Marko but I've never actually been. If they have a good selection of falang food then I'll make a trip over to Pranburi.

    read the post above you

"No requirement to enrol, just walk in"

  8. I have huge respect for Muay Thai fighters but training for 5 months in Singapore with other Thai fighters is a joke. If they are serious about MMA they need to train in the UK or US with the coaches and UFC fighters. Otherwise you will see these guys submitted in the first round over and over again because of a lack of real ground experience.

You know Evolve MMA has got at least three three BJJ world champions?

Then I stand corrected, could be interesting...

  9. For the last few weeks I have been getting these little stings that are not painful but annoying when going in the ocean. Today it was too much and after 10 minutes left the water. Does any one know exactly what is in the water, some kind of microscopic lice or what ??

  10. I highly recommend Hua Hin Hospital, I just had a wisdom tooth that was pulled out that 2 other high end dentist specialists in Bangkok passed on because it was too difficult to remove.

You will need to make an appointment, one month wait in my case. It is one of the King's Hospitals so the costs are very low, (never saw a farang and the total price was only 1200 baht !!)

But don't let the fact the price was over 10 times cheaper than Bangkok Dentists, the specialist in there knew exactly what to do and finished it in a hour. Now a month later, it has healed perfectly and I can easily recommend their dental department in a second.

  11. I give Abhisit credit for letting the people decide which way they wanted to go, and furthermore stepping down so gracefully. He said what he was going to do and kept his word. A man of his word is quite rare in these parts. Samak the cooking show guy spoke English quite well, he just lied through his teeth when he did.

He should have stepped down last year, nothing graceful about people dying.

  12. mods can see ip addresses.. this could be fixed in 5secs by them. Guy is obviously from the UK

and i am posting from bkk right now on a vpn that says I am in the Ukraine. So what have you proved?

that your internet must be extremely slow

    Troll topic but will feed,

What kind of sperm count does this 70 year old possess, unless he has been doing her for a while. And now she is surprised she is pregnant ?

Also, the OP should realize that when you marry the girl you marry the family.
