  1. What with all the major crime, corruption, human trafficking, and counterfeit property racketeering in Thailand, another petty bust makes the headline news. Thais just don't get it. They perceive that throwing flack up, they will win world consensus that they are fighting crime in Thailand and making groundbreaking major busts.

This "Headline" is only on the Thai Visa News Page. Nowhere else.

  2. The Hainan chicken rice restaurant at the Three Kings monument does pretty good satay pork to accompany the khao man gai.

Thanks. I have eaten there many times and thought they do only Kao mun Gai and Kao Soi.

They don't do khao soi... perhaps it's a different place. The one I am referring to is on the south side of the one way street opposite the Thre Kings (Inthawarorot Road), and on the east side of a small soi running due south (Phrapokklao Soi 11). I have been eating there for 25 years, but I don't know the name... They do chicken as well as pork satay

I don't know this place. Could you put up a link to google maps ? Cheers.

  4. The Sinet people came out to my house, including one of the top guys, who speaks wonderful english

One of the problems, stems from the staff giving wrong information, which the company bosses have dealt with.

So if you get an answer like "I dont know, but I will get someone that knows to call you back", then you know its being dealt with efficiently!

Not only have they made my service better for International speeds, but helped me connect to some online programming outside of Thailand.

The speed is so good now, that I went out and purchased my first (and last) Apple product, the AppleTV.. (Apple sucks, always has and always will)

The problem, which I think can be expressed in other industries too, is that Thai staff are ignorant and lazy and too quick to give an "opinion" rather than any facts or simply stating "they dont know"

3bb have served me well for many long years... but knowing that I can call Sinet support and speak with someone that understands the western mind and fluent in english, is a breath of fresh air and after living here for nearly 10 years, its a very welcome change

As I Twitch and use the Singapore server, they have configured some of my system to optimize the connection to Singapore and that has been fantastic, compared to my previous post example of my connection to there

I know this is a turnaround with my complaints, but I am honestly impressed by Sinet and the fact that they are working on delivering a service, that actually does have a "service" behind it and not just... "turn off your modem, count to 10 and turn modem back on"

I dont know what else to say... except, before you pick a service... speak to the technicians first (if you can) and dont by all means listen to the pretty girl staff, that wouldnt know what a modem is, because that where the initial frustration starts....

If you need some hands on testing, then please park your car outside my home and try it with your Phone or Tablet (I will come out and give you a wifi password to test it out for yourself)... I live in the San Kaempeng area, close to the Home World hardware complex near the big intersection (dont know the road names)... Just PM me...

Seriously... I am a happy customer now smile.png

Yes, Khun Pakin is very helpful indeed.

  5. This is old news, entrance into the road from the 108 end has been blocked for ages.

I too cannot see any reason or logic behind it, but this is Thailand where the word logic is not even listed in the Thai dictionary.

............the word logic is not even listed in the Thai dictionary..... Thhat can't be true.

  6. For a start.

No way MR PM do not put them on islands in National Parks they will destroy the islands and the surrounding sea.

Right now, something does have to be done but it is not an easy problem to resolve. As we see from previous reports a fair proportion of these people, while they are victims of the traffickers, did get on these boats voluntarily looking for better economic conditions, work, jobs, a better chance at life.

That makes them economic migrants rather than refugees and there is a difference.

Fair enough if they are real refugees treat them as such under international convention but if they are just here looking for a better life then why treat them any different to someone from Lao or Cambodia who has come here looking for a job.

An additional problem with these people is their adherence to the so called religion of peace which has been stigmatized by some and has now tainted all its adherents to the extent that there will always be suspicion that their presence will either cause problems or increase those the country already has.

That one of course doesn't apply to the countries to the south of TL.

Agreed, most of them appear to be on the boats for economic reasons.

  7. Food at home is fine, if just us. If family come to eat, I take my own portions out first. One or two might try the serving spoon for the novelty value but quickly revert to their own spoons or fingers. Food eaten outside is a lottery. I just accept that as an environmental health officer in England once told me, Asians have a "different standard of hygene" to Brits, i.e. none. No matter who comes to eat at our house from whatever strata of Thai society, the basin and soap in the hongnam are always dry when they leave. Mai bpen rai, I just learn to live with the occasional sh*ts.

Are you saying that the Brits have the top hygienic standards ?? That is not the case.

  8. From my viewpoint as a reader of thaivisa.com/forum I agree that Thaivisa is primarily a forum, not a news site.

You have not given a link to what you call the starting page. If you mean the page news.thaivisa.com, based on my limited knowledge of how these things work I take it that with the word "news" in the name of this subdomain – I believe that's what it is called – news.thaivisa.com projects itself as a news site.

Entering thaivisa.com in the URL field in the browser currently redirects us to news.thaivisa.com. From another topic in the Forum Support Desk I understand that this is temporary while the home page of thaivisa.com is being newly designed. I suggest that in the meantime you put a link to thaivisa.com/forum on the screen of your computer monitor to use as your entry page to Thaivisa if the home page of news.thaivisa.com annoys you too much. This brings you directly to what you expect: Thaivisa, the forum.

Thanks for your reply. I was referring to the news thaivisa page indeed. Let's hope this is only a temporary page.

I am aware that by bookmarking the forum page will make this my starting page, but I still miss the old layout where you had weather, exchange rates, local forums and news all on one page.

  9. I don't know about when it started but I think the fact that it's not on the street level - and doesn't have street level advertising - is a problem. I don't know what stores are there and am not curious enough to go up and see.

    Your description also fits KSG

    Indeed it does.
