You should be eligible to claim income support and housing benefit when you return - I know you might be unwilling to consider that, but its a safety net that you paid into for many years. Best to claim on day one when you get back - you won't see any money for a few weeks at least.

There is always a job for a minicab driver - indeed.co.uk is probably the best UK job site, although there are others. Here's some jobs on offer:

If you can save some money until your state pension kicks in, you will hopefully find yourself in a much better position soon. Good luck!

wow they get near 60.000 thai baht salary pr week as cab taxi drivers !!!!!!! go go there its good money dam

This Thai woman seems to have done it different than all others

that take out loans from loan sharks, she paid off the loan, but

not the interest, where most others just pay the interest, month

after month......forever,same as credit cards just pay the minimum.

As loan sharking is illegal they have no legal recourse to get you

to pay, only alternative is violence or harassment,if she is not

returning to Thailand, just change her phone number and forget about it.

    regards Worgeordie

they never give up be aware its like mafia

Kasikorn's online and mobile banking is superb.  I no longer carry an ATM card as I can use my phone to withdraw cash.

The other night in a Japanese bar on Sukhumvit,  I was short of cash (I don't have any credit cards) but the bar had their account number on the bill fold; so I just did a transfer and showed the waitress the confirmation on my phone.  Bloody brilliant!

by the way do you know what is the maxium amount available per day to transfer money from mobile ?

  8. FIRST FOR  YOUR KIDNEY GO TO THE CHINESE HOSPITAL HUA CHIEW HERE IN BANGKOK  they can heal every thing with chinese herbs and accupunture...

then with 7 or 8 million you can buy only a house with his land but not on beach resort aera not enouth

you have to choice select your destination aera first , where in thailand you want to buy ?

Yes the baht is too strong  but so is the usd.

Currencies are very difficult for me or you to judge. The experts have a hard time making calls.

The IMF said 2 days ago that the USD is 6 to 12% too strong.

A lot of talk in the markets that USD should fall.

IMHO usd could fall about 5 to 6 % soon.

That is likely to push the baht higher in the short term. So best to wait.

If you switched after say a 5% further rise, then you balance the risk of a further baht rise against the gain when the baht peaks and goes into a downtrend. That has to happen at some point and many people hope it happens soon.

Some contrarians say the euro is due to rebound. It looks possible.

GBP is undervalued but too risky due brexit.

Switching currencies can be costly. Consider the costs if you are resident here and may need the money in baht later.

There is another option here in thailand that you could consider, to buy gold. The spread buy to sell is very small. In theory if usd falls gold will go up and likely match any rise in the baht. Then when the baht falls the gold price here in baht should go up.

But gold has other risks for price movement. Currently very bullish but that could change, so if the money is savings that you dont want to see rising and falling then dont buy it.

However, depending on your financial circumstances many financial advisers say its a good idea to have some of your assets in gold as insurance if their is major crisis.

From my experience advisers tend to suggest about 5% of assets.

I am only suggesting that you look at this as an option. Its down to individual circumstances.

If you have a thai wife she may love the idea of holding some gold.

Mine was very happy when i bought some.

I am not a financial adviser.

I do hold some physical gold here as above. With trump in power, who knows what will happen next.

if and when or if it will .... bla bla no body know thats the point  there must be somebody responsible for the money no ?who control the world money exchange ?  sure its not the cosmic energy doing it

I understand some do and some don't and it might be good to know which is which.

good question  i use french credit card gold master from my french account  transferwise question what is reason to transfer  i click payment  for goods materials then using master gold transferwise has limit per day 2500 euros looks like not use as cash advance because cash advance allow only 1500 euros per week.

yesterday i transfer from account balance transferwise 3000 euros it took 20 Hours thai time 14H00 order then next day had message kasikorn 13H45 money in bank.

I HAVE A CREDIT CARD VISA PREMIER FRENCH  that one works only as cash advice once a week 1600 euros and they ask code first . by the way master card gold do not ask code.ONYL MY EXPERIENCE with french gold credit card master.

want to add a info   I find out opening a foreign currency account euro with krungsri bank  then transferwise euro into that account transferwise charge only 3 euros then krungsri use medium currency exchange ( do not know extacly vocabulary for it) thats may be the cheapest way to transfer  euro or $ to thai baht

Foreign Telegraphic Transfer. But that's only necessary if you need the deposit to show it came from abroad for Immigration.

The money Transferwise 'sends' is already in their accounts here in Thailand, so should not take that long.

thank you  now i  understand  transferwise use a thai bank here its not every time a swift transfer so looks like they can do a sort of  local atm transfer
