So you want the streets to be filled with the sick and dieing, As of now in the states the population most hit by this varant are young people and many of those have nor recieved a shot. Do you have any real fact and stats that back up your nonsense.

You really need to get a grip on this disease... "streets filled with sick and dying." Please go look up the statistics on this disease.

You can use this if you like, or find your own. This image is from nature.com.

  2. The headlines makes it sound like she has been served a great justice. Covid isn't anything to worry about at her age. It's a whole lot to worry about as an 80-year-old, though. Who knows what the real story is behind all of this... another example of being misled by someone making up excuses to justify embarrassing behavior, or another example of the press really twisting a non-story into something crazy for clicks. I clicked, I guess I contribute to the proliferation of click-bait headlines

  3. He sure seems a long way from death if he was sprawled out on the ground for so long and then crawled to the temple the next day. While the initial target reaction to the headline seems like it would be "the situation is so desperate in Thailand from this horrifying disease that people are abandoning their aged parents," it seems more likely to be a case of: economic lockdown driving people to desperate measures, or a drunk that the daughter wanted to get rid of a long time ago, or just outrageous paranoia of what to do about covid 19. Or all of those.

If he would have died of thirst on the side of the road, or died from exposure to sun or whatever because nobody would approach him, would he be reported as a covid death?

So , an army putsch is in line with the constitution ?

Myanmar was a democracy , now it became an totalitarian , autocratic , people oppressing state that is controlled by armed killers and the population lives in fear .

Shame on everybody supporting this murderous regime !

    Especially Putin and Xi .

I am not a fan of the Burmese junta.

But what we are looking at here is a region that will descend into full-on revolution, and the factions within the country will then turn on each other.  Karen, Shan, Mon, Kachin...

Supporting this antigovernmental insurgency is most likely going to drive Myanmar to end up like Syria and Libya.

Nobody has to believe that Saddam Hussein was a good guy, or that Khadafi, Assad, etc. were, in order to understand that those countries would have been better off if those dictators would have stayed in power.  The tragic death and chaos that ensued from the fall of those regimes were spurred by foreign powers looking to benefit from the chaos.

How many times will we eat up media reports pushing an agenda for war?

We shouldn't be seduced by romantic stories from the media that this is another homegrown event. Myanmar is another political pawn, and the people will greatly suffer as this insurgency progresses.

  5. I think that the U.S. probably doesn't really care about the reality of Thailand's human trafficking. It's used as a way to manipulate Thailand. If Thailand does more to distance itself from China, or if groups/political parties backed by the U.S.'s NED gain power through elections, pressure, or protests, then the U.S. and other U.S.-backed human rights groups will suddenly find improvement in the human trafficking situation here.

  6. I assume the photo is a quarantine centre for covid? Is posting such a photo just more fear-mongering? The avian flu is definitely something to fear, but this photo... "Get ready for the next reason to lockdown society!"

It would be like a story on a drunk driver including a photo of an unrelated family in a car wearing double seatbelts and helmets.

The same article on the Reuters website doesn't include the very scary photo.

  7. Before, the intervac website said that reservations were possible between 14:00 and 18:00.

Now, the site says that reservations are between 12 noon and 15:00.

It says that people under 60 years old can register from 14 June, today. But when I go the website, it still says that you can only register if you are age 60 and older.

Did I miss something??? Is there another website for people under at 60??

  8. I lived in Chicago for a couple of years in the 00s. The neighborhood had a quite a number of groups from the Middle East, including a significant population of U.S.-born Orthodox and Hasidic Jews. There were a few billboards along major streets with the Israeli flag and U.S. flag together, encouraging Jews to donate 10% of their will when they die.

I never heard of anyone attempting to remove those signs, but I imagine such attempts would have been met with accusations of anti-Semitism. I just cruised down the street on Google Maps Street View, and noticed that those signs are no longer up. No idea why

It was an interesting neighborhood in that, whatever different political views may have existed, everyone went to the same Mediterranean food restaurant (Muslim owned and operated). That place was always packed.

Here's a similar billboard in Detroit that made quite a stir. No idea what happened with it:

  9. I went to the Bangrak Vaccination Centre this morning.  Unless you've got Thai citizenship or permanent residency, there's absolutely no point in going. They'll just tell you to register online.  Also, you can't register unless your over 60 or have diabetes, etc.

There were a fair amount of people there, with a handful of foreigners.

Google Maps shows the building in the wrong place. The actual location is here:

Google Maps incorrectly shows the location as being a couple of buildings down, here:

By the time you would need to go to the center, the proper location will probably be listed on Google Maps.
