Decided my 2015 PCX 150 needed replacng.....

Went to my local Honda Scooter dealers, and gobsmacked to find they wanted 90,000 Baht for a new PCX, plus that gawdy orange plastic put me off too....

Bought an Aeorox Sport in blue for 66,000b out the door....

    3 months on....

Smaller and easier round town that the PCX, more stylish (imho)...wider wheels / tyres make it more sure footed (the 140 rear tyre same size to most 250cc geared bikes).... The wide seat more comfy than the PCX....The gas shocks help smooth out the bumps...The Yamaha's engine smoother than the Honda's....

The Aerox's tank is small compared to the PCX's is about the only downside i can think of...

    Sorry.... wrong

  2. I wonder how accurate the performance specifications are from your list. The ancient Honda Phantom TA200 offering over 16 horsepower, while the more modern very similar engine that can actually rev a bit higher from the Keeway Superlight 200 only has 12.74 horsepower.

Also with selecting a cruiser most people would not directly look at the horsepower of a cruiser, the torque specs are much more important. It’s very unlikely you going to use a cruiser to set a speed record… If you want to go fast on a 250cc class cruiser you’re seriously looking at the wrong motorcycles.

I never hear of a Platinum Monaco 200, but I know the Platinum Monaco 250 which is basically a copy of the old Honda Rebel 250 (parallel-twin).

Will an external hard drive with USB 3.0 port accept the higher speed of a USB 3.1 pci-express card?

Yes, of course the external hard drive will only work with the speed of USB 3.0. You can already buy external USB 3.1 drive enclosures for 2.5" SSD's or HDDs. That will give you access to the full speed of the SSD as USB 3.1 can do up to 10GB data transfer. SSDs with a SATA3 connection have a maximum data transfer of 6GB...

If you have an external HDD by USB 3.0 you not need to buy a USB 3.1 case as you will not notice much performance enhancement. But with a SSD it will make the drive fly...

    Very good suggestion.

I have been thinking about it for some time as the power outages must be having some adverse affect on my internal HDD as well.

I can get this one on Lazada for 1,690 baht - 1000VA/400W.

    Excellent idea.

I found this PCIE to USB 3.0 4 port adapter on Lazada for 540 baht.

So for just over 2,000 baht I will have upgraded my PC's ability to transfer data faster and safer, and not need to worry anymore about power outages.

I could also test the speed of my existing WD external USB drives, as all are USB 3.0.

What sort of speed increase could I expect?

Maybe an SSD would not be needed after all?

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.

    :wai:

Why go for an old USB 3.0 PICe card, you can get USB 3.1 PCIe cards in Thailand http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/computer-accessories/orico/pa31-2p-2-ports-usb3-1-pci-express-card-p026990/

  5. If the extra cost of a SSD is no restriction, I would go for a SSD with USB… and SSD has as advantage that it doesn’t have any moving parts…

Say you’re working with your external storage and it accidentally falls from your desk… With a spinning HDD falling from your desk on the floor you can be sure you in for a new one, while with a SSD in a good external case you would not have any problems….

Also some modern external HDD/SSD cases have multiple interfaces, for example USB 3.0, eSATA and Thunderbolt... I have a StarTech external 2.5" HDD case that supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 (that is 10GB data transfer) and some mainboards already come standard with USB 3.1...

  6. It’s very unlikely that the Quadro4 will ever come to Thailand, as it would not be road legal. As a 4-wheeled vehicle it doesn’t pass the Thai road safety regulations. They have an exception to the regulation if a set of wheels is close enough… two wheels can be considered as one wheel. I can tell that will be a homologation nightmare for anybody who try to get the Quadro4 legally on the road in Thailand.

Yes, riding an R3 will give a good indication of what the track is like on a M1. I guess that's why you see so many MGP teams sharing parts and set-ups with the Moto3 guys. LOL!!

We get it. Its NOT a flowing European track. News flash: neither is COTA. And Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina is sooo close to everything too...

Valentino Rossi sometimes inspects a track on a 50cc scooter, and in his earlier days he walked the track sometimes… Maybe a Yamaha YZF-R3 gives a bit more info than a 50cc scoot… who knows…

By the way the person who designed the Chang International Circuit Buriram also designed COTA (Circuit of the Americas) and about 28 more which a good amount are on the MotoGP circuit list...

I take it you've skipped over ALL the middle posts, where the OP was asked and then confirmed they are using

    Microsoft Office 2003

...Unless you're talking about something else entirely unrelated  to the OPs issue.

Maya Cupa, actually I had seen that but had brushed it away as a typo...  We had already serious problems using MS Office 2007 with Windows 10 Pro so we changed... I cannot imagine that MS Office 2003 is still supported... Why want anybody run so old software, compared to MS Office Pro 2003 the latest version of Libreoffice 5.4 works much better and has nearly all options you find in the latest Microsoft office package (best thing it's free, and supported).

  9. I have MS Windows 10 Pro (X86_64)  installed on several computers, this computers also have MS Office Professional Plus 2013 X86_64 all this computers are up-to-date with the latest Windows version 1703 (15063.332) and I cannot reproduce any of the problems reported.

Of course the software on our computers is 100% legal and if we had something like the problems reported I surely would have contacted Microsoft.

Interesting it is ..... but have I missed something here ?

How does a ridiculously expensive Monte Carlo restaurant bill find a legitimate place in this thread ?

While a Grand-Prix racing event is mainly about racing, it is also about the whole circus around it. In the interview in which Valentino Rossi expressed his ideas about Chang International Circuit Buriram he also indicated that the circuit is far from everything… what is the nearest (official) 5-star hotel? Where is the nearest location where a race team can hold an after party?

  11. If you plan to change next year a whole new set of options will be available for you to look at...

For now the Yamaha Aero 155 has a fuel tank that holds 4.6 liters of fuel. That is small compared with the Honda PCX150 which has according to Honda an 8 liter fuel tank.

The Honda PCX150 is a 2014 model, with a 3-year model upgrade routine, we should get a new Honda PCX150 this year or early next year. But Honda would not rule the premium scooter market alone, it will by that time have stiff competition from the Yamaha XMax 300…

    Correct

You should also contact the (Thai) Department of Land Transport as they're in charge of legally riding on the public road. The Thai customs can help you legally entering Thailand. In most countries around the world if you pass customs you can ride around, but in Thailand you also need a permit from the Department of Road Transport... otherwise you're an ATM for every police officer...

I have been here for a long time and have heard many stories of people trying to import there own bike. Most people later really regret that they tried to go this way instead of buying something here. If you know many people who have done it could you please explain how they did it? I am sure there are many people here who would like to know the easiest way to do bring there own bike.

I had the idea the OP wanted to know how-to "Temporary Import of Motorcycle" for a holiday or touring the country

130 thousand Euro for a bottle of brut ?!

    Hope it was a magnum.

Brut does go well with french fries.

So no prob with private jet into airport miles north of town.

Surely the Kingdom could find some way to accommodate Fido.

Actually it was a 30 liter bottle, magnum bottles are so yesteryear  By the way a 30 liter bottle is called a Melchizedek, just in case you get wild ideas...hahah

What does he mean it's in the middle of nowhere. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants in Buriram.  Nice hotels also and always beautiful Thai ladies .

    What's wrong with this guy ? ? ?.

Valentino Rossi, is the Highest-Paid Athletes Over The Past Decade. And that is without his on the side activity... Which likely is also a few million green per month...

The Thai customs had informed on his last visit that his dog needed to stay 30 days in guaranty...
