  1. You can't buy Easter eggs in Pattaya and the party shop over last few years has organised a supply of them but I understand due to poor sales last year they are not doing it this year

Poor sales due to high prices perhaps?

I've read on TV that it's easy (and cheaper) to order online and have them delivered from overseas.

Good luck having chocolate imported into a tropical climate.

Prices, their prices were comparable to back home so no issue there.

    Tv what show was that?

TV = Thai Visa, this website.

    And Seadoo = Partyshop?
  2. Jeez, only 56 minutes after you open a topic you retreat from you intentions already. You know very well where to report illegal practices.

So what gonna be your next comment?I have decided to work illegal same as all those other and support my crook employers?

As for the threats that will come after you, yeah everybody has a lot of power here, especially those who can't even afford to set up a legal business.

Give me a break, and just report them to the official instances.I don't see foreigners shot here on a daily base, but I see however some deported for illegal practices on a daily base.

  3. @ Bendix - Actually I do know the difference between Wholesale and retail. Maybe you can enlighten me as to which this story is actually based on and point out where. I was refering to retail prices that have increased and not the wholesale prices however normally retail prices go up in line with an increase in wholesale prices so what is the difference?

Not in Thailand. Here the retail prices go up whenever the retailers can make up an excuse with which they can scam the uneducated population.

A still very popular excuse is " the floods "..

  4. When is Easter? I now just anticipate ( with trepidation) Songkran!

Good Friday is April 6th. Easter Monday April 9th.

He asked when it was Easter !! So ?
  5. As a satirist you are a pathetic failure, but as a practitioner of self-indulgent schadenfreude you excel. I suggest you study how to use the editor facilities here to properly intersperse your comments with quoted remarks.

This is one of the most mean-spirited replies I've ever had here on TeeVee, but, don't worry, we won't be seeing any messages from you again thanks to the ability to block-out posters, like you, who float to the surface here the way pond-scum floats in lotus-pools smile.png

    ~o:37;

Are you one of those that stand at the corner of the street handing out pamflets that HE'S coming soon?

Another one to block for you, enjoy the forum future to it's full extend.

That is the best shaving oil. The cream and gel is crap. This stuff you use a few drops and that's it. Work with electric blades as well. I bought a ton of it for like $3 a bottle at Walmart and brought them out here. A small bottle lasts about 6 months. All natural ingredients and no after shave is needed after. Until I found this stuff I was spending a fortune on the best Gillette gel and still was nothing compared to how well this oil works.

I also prefer shaving oil as I use the one from summersets, but if you do a google it's quite easy to make your own shaving oil at a fraction of the price.

  7. @Sharky1

I have tried those blades before but they left me with a terrible rash under my chin. I used Gillette shaving gel as well. I stick to the terribly expensive Gillette blades now. Although they are expensive, they are kind to my skin!

Also, I always shop at Big C. I find their fresh veg section cleaner and cheaper than Tesco-Lotus and the South Pattaya Big C is always quiet. The queues at the checkouts are always small as well, compared to Tesco-Lotus. Am I in the minority here?

    Did you say FRESH vegetable?

Never seen anything like that in Big C,like another poster already said,go look at foodland if you want to compare fresh.

  8. hahaha i get the point....still because i am in the building indusrty i would seek out a desgin from someone who is qualified, no way would i allow some one to dream it up fo me, even i wouldnt do it and god knows how many places ive been involved with, unless its for something like a chicken shed....giggle.gif

And as far as labor and there skill level, thats a problem everywhere you can never over supervise.

I had the amusing experience of booking into a hotel in Chiang rai recently, my partner found it on the net and was advertised as something or other resort, only recently opened sounded good...little out of CR, we were picked up in brand new merc van, very flash and well appointed as you can imagine, so far so good, on arrival the building designed hardly jumped out of me 2 story rendered rectangle with a hip roof with around 12 to 16 rooms, not sure, then noticed the dining area, metal flat room with walls on 2 sides attached to the end of the building....hmmm ok country thai style, wanting to shower and shave the basin tap came off in my hands first time i touched it, water gushing out...we were given a new room further down, all the rooms were the same design, timber door opening out to a sealed balcony, the door was wider than the balcony, conduct running along walls to power points and air con...steping out to balocny conecting us to exit stairs looking up and along the walls....hmmm someone forgot to run a string line while laying the blocks...infills above celing height as roof was a skillion over balcony also ran some thing like hua hin beach does on a wind day, to say it was poorly build is an understament, there were many more examples of a farmer turned builder to see so i do know what you guys mean ive witnessed it too.

Thais are very capable of top quality you only need to go to some of the shopping centres, and ive seen some well put togther homes as well over the years, yeah i see you can have a problem finding a good crew up country but if i do decide to build here it wont be up country.

You do realise that most,if not all ,of the quality shopping centers and hotels are designed by foreign architects, don't you. After that they most of the time are build by Thai companies who are under foreign management.

  9. Apologies if this has already been asked and answered, but it would appear that KBB had quite a substantial value of property in Thailand.

Has anyone established the beneficiary of these Millions yet?

If you read a few post higher up you will notice that KBB didn't own any property in Thailand,as is the case with the majority of foreigners other then the ones who own condo's,but instead all were in his ex-(dead) girlfiends name.

Yes but IIRC he was at one stage on about protecting himself by having a 30 years lease on said properties and then a debate where he said he had 30 + 30 leases...contrary to having it pointed out to him that it was not binding in any way to have 30+30, he as usual had a passifier.gif and wouldn't comment again.....

Having a lease doesn't make you an owner, regardless of how many years and how many leases you have.
  10. Just to let you know what I know.....maybe I should restate that...because I don't know anything..

That place was called Beaches and most likely changed names and owners or investors because of the state that it was in. Remember they arrested the Manager out there. The actual owner would honor the deposits because he said he didn't take them...the manager did. This all ended up in court..I don't know the specifics but I do know the manager is in Jail and will be for a long time

Anyway, there is a Russian who bought 200 rai at Silver Lakes. My guess is that he decided that Beaches was a better place and is now throwing his money there. However, don't sell Silver lakes short because they are building a Venice Theme park up there. Bangsaray will explode in the next couple of years and the property prices will go up in that area. In addition to that the casino that someone mentioned is supposed to happen at Baan Ampur not Bangsaray, " The Ambassador". It was recently approved and the person I know that is directly involved in making it happen is pushing aggressively and those behind. Based on the movement in that area I believe it is going to happen this time.

The casino in the Ambassdor gets approved every time one of Thaksin's cronies is in power, but get's sidelined again each and every time they kick them out.

I thought it was the opposite and Thaksin's preferred location for the casino is on the large area of land he bought in Koh Chang.

That would be for yet another casino,Thaksin had not just one casino in mind.

There have been reports that he owns the biggest chunk if not all of the Ambassador

  12. Dear Kwasaki and others on this thread.

I finally got to the bottom of this.. thanks also to your support. What they say they are doing, is first making concrete beams between each pillar, so 28 beams all together (in the ground). After the beams are in place, they were going to pour a concrete slab over the entire surface (7mx11m). I have made a rough sketch as attached. The sketch shows the pillars and beams before the pouring of the slab (Of course the slab will obscure the beams afterwards).

Do these beams make sense? .......... I think there are two main questions. The first is whether the costings are close or near close, and the second is whether this is technically sound or just overkill.

I hope you can offer your further opinions .... Thanks you....

Well, the columns that are already in place are supporting the overhead structure, yah? So, all those "beams" as you call them are for what? If all you are doing is putting in a slab below the house, I really don't think you need all that structure. As I said before, beware of "builders" getting greedy. Maybe time to fire this one and talk to somebody else.

So you would lay an 11 meter long floor slab with any support under it other than earth?
  13. (Well I can, but often it just quotes the idiot the other TV member twice- particularly annoying in political threads).

Any fixes sages of the board?

See I fixed it for you already, that's what you had in mind wasn't it?

We've moved away from the original topic, but to answer your question, I was the communications project manager at Wembley Park Station, that had to be open 3 months before the stadium opened for 'trial runs'. With 3 hour work 'windows' in public and operational areas, organising 80+ technicians to perform their tasks at the right place and the right time is not easy to get the staff! Our 3 month programme was reduced to 5 weeks, as a result of the civils, E&M and premises Construction Managers being unable to deliver. We delivered, on time, on budget, safely and without disturbing the operational railway! That is just one of my successful projects!

Back on topic: You haven't answered my question, is it acceptable for someone who's on a 'day rate' to work 6 weeks without being paid, even if they have worked 3 or 4 weeks without fault!

I would love to come down to 'your' site!

Trevor,I have answered your question several times already, problem is that you don't want to see the answer.

You remember my post : this is a topic in the line of....................?

I understand what you are saying, I also understand that you are not allowed to say it out loud! I also don't agree with you entirely! I'll P.M. you in the near future!

Factory workers, how often are they paid (if they are working in a factory and not a construction site - as then they would be called construction site workers!!)clap2.gif

Trevor, I and probably nobody has an answer to that question as it is up to the company in question. But I understand that most of the factories in Thailand provide accomodation and food for their workers, which they deduct from the salary.

Also the people I mentioned who i talked to in my previous post are none in the construction business but are factory's and retail businesses.
