  1. I often make cottage pies. Karen wife shops for the best beef and minces in for me, then I take over adding stock, chopped onion, Worcester Sauce, Bisto gravy granuals, frozen mixed veg. from Tesco and a few herbs with salt and pepper all in the saucepan. Mix the mashed pots. with a little butter and milk for the top of the pies. Served up with cabbage and Bisto gravy.

I also enjoy bangers, mash, peas and Bisto gravy. Best sausages from Makro in Chiang Mai, four hours from my home. Also enjoy bacon from Makro with fried bread, sausage, baked beans, frid egg and OK brown sauce. Scampi & chips is another favourite with Tartare sauce. Long tailed scampi and chunky chips from CP Foods in Mae Sariang town, Tatare sauce from Tesco Chiang Mai.

Would love a roastie but don't have a cooker.

    Happy days.

  2. So get a grip Thai police and finally show your nation that justice can be metered out to a criminal. Such a sham that no action was spoken about until he was denounced from being a monk, what's so special about them they can be as corrupt and heartless as others. In this day and age his fortunes can be traced, but where will they go into another black hole. Use it charitably and help those in need not just in Thailand but as the rest of the world manages in other countries.

  3. It's a national embarrassment, and KFC are giving it free publicity by doing this.

Who said it was a national embarrassment? Anything about this in the domestic press?

That in itself is a national embarrassment too. Word of this gets into the Western press and it will make the country look stupid and backward again. Hence, wait for it.........a national embarrassment.

There's no excuse for this level of stupidity.

Well said I agree with the last comments wholeheartedly. This should never have been allowed by the Thai authorites or any other countries. A total invasion of human decency
  4. Thailand tourism ? No respect for foreign tourists that help to pay their wages and contribute hugely to the Thai economy. The police want to investigate whoever placed this video clip on the internet ? What about the member of their force who threatened the Russian with a gun, fake or not is of no consequence and then repeatedly whacked him around the head and verbally abused him. This man is a disgrace to his uniform and his country, he should be prosecuted and at least be sacked, if not imprisoned.

The offender is a cop? What did you base that on?

Who's the guy with the gun and dishing out the slapping ?

  6. No suprise that he doesn't get the information from " colleagues " to be a spokesman with anything valid to say. Take up the challenge yourself Yingluck, try to speak openly and don't place some one in place who you can hide behind. There's nowhere to run, try some transparency for a change, take the pressure of the job and look after both the people of your country, the expatriates and the tourists.

  7. Interesting as I experienced this a few years ago. After a few visits here I met a woman who worked in Mae Rim and we got together. Whenever I returned to meet up again we stayed in Chiang Mai and every time we went out she dressed down and walked behind me. Despite the fact that she didn't speak English, I had learned a little Thai. After asking her about this she advised she thought that was what I wanted, I thought what a load of nonsense. The next time we were due to go out I told her that she either walked with me or in front of me as this was old fashioned English courtesy, or she could stay in the hotel. She changed and we're now married.

What I don't understand is the Thai's have no manners or idea of being courteous. I still say please and thank you and open the door for women to go before me. Never a thank you all thet want is to get in or out berfore me and don't care about others, a bit like their driving and their outlook on life.

  8. What utter nonsense. Not all Thai's are Budhists so why does the goverment continue these antiquated ideas to ban alcohol sales on Budhist religious days, they're blinkered to the needs and rights of people of other religious beliefs and turn a blind eye to the monks who flout the rules they swore to abide by. I'm athiest as I won't be governed by any religion because none of them accept the views of the others. No alcohol sales is a peverse reflection on people's civil rights, whatever country you may choose to live in. However it never works, watch the population and tourists in the bars and restaurants, some of whom blatantly drink as normal, others who drink beer, wine and spirits from coffee mugs hiding the bottles on the floor.

  9. Absolutely ridiculous attention seeking officials. Who's being offended, I would suggest the many tourists who arrive at Bangkok after many hours travelling and enjoy a quick smoke in a designated area. Install some door closers on the rooms and welcome the arrival of tourists who are contributing hugely to the Thai economy.

Despite many reports of stopping the pollution caused by the " slash and burn " tactics used by farmers, nothing happens. This must be of greater concern to the nation rather than stopping a minority of travellers haveing a quick smoke, behind closed doors. Get real tourist industry !

  10. Intitially get the police to do their jobs instead of turning blind eyes to everything that goes on.

Check motorbikes and cars tax documents, out of date documents lead to no insurance or drivers licences. Stop children riding motorbikes and driving cars who are obviously under age. I've seen so many. Toughen up the tests needed to obtain a licence so many have no idea. Random stop riders and drivers for drink driving, thereby reducing accidents.

Concentrate on finding the drug users, from them establish the networks and close them down.

Penalise the " slash and burn " farmers properly and stop the smog created by their fires, commonly stupidly referred to as " dust particles. "

Additionally change the attitude of Thai people to " Farangs, " we are not just an easy route to profiteering.

Also show compassion and acceptance to the tourists who are a valuable commodity to the growth of Thailand.

  11. it can't that bad because it " fails to hurt Chiang Mai tourism sector " !!

That may be so in Chiang Mai but is costs regions in Mae Hong Son dearly. Mae Sariang where I live is virtually devoid of tourists, hotels are empty, businesses profits are reduced, but the farmers are laughing all the way to the bank. It's cheaper to burn than to invest in the equipment to get the land ready for the next crop. This is a rich area for farming but only the farmers and banks benefit. No wonder so many of the farmers are able to continually build huge new houses in the area. I'm suprised that the hotel and business owners don't join forces and insist that the the government takes responsible action, after all they pay their taxes, I wonder if the " poor " farmers even know about taxes. However what's the point the government never takes action, just talk the talk.. My third year at this time of year and it's effecting my heakth, next year I'll go and see my family in England for a two month break, despite the snow there this year.

  12. Seen last year in Mae Sariang during Songkran - Fire truck blasting water at everyone - Pick-ups with huge barrels on water on, with pumps and hoses absolutely soaking anyone walking or riding bikes - Older woman on motor bike shouting at group " NO WATER, " she was covered and very nearly came off the bike - Young woman leaving hair dresser on motor bike headed off in one direction, spotted the same group with hoses and buckets of water, started to turn around to go in the other direction, she didn't make it and was swamped from head to toe, she eventually headed off crying. The water abusers were not kids but adults ranging from around 20 to 50. - All in good fun, I don't think so no one cares.

  13. Good comments on here. I suggest that the contrast made between accidents in Britain and accidents involving Brits. in Thailand, proves that the Thai's just either cannot drive of they don't give a toss for anyone other than themselves.. There is no excuse for the bad mannered Thai's, plus many of them have no driving licence, road tax or insurance. What the report doesn't advise is who caused the accidents ! I think I'll move on soon as Thailand seems so anti foreigners in every aspect of life.

  14. Another load of nonsense from the government who just " talk the talk " and don't " walk the walk. " Increase the police presense, cancel their leave they have a duty to the public. During this festival last year I had to avoid a crash at around 4pm, by letting my motor bike slide away and from underneath me. A totally reckless driver came straight out from a side road in front of me, so I had to avoid a direct hit. I had a coupla scrapes but the bike was damaged more. The driver reluctantly got out of his car and could just about stand up, he was so drunk and stank like a distillery. What happened ? Eventually a policeman on a motorbike stopped, helped the driver into his car and they both disappeared, leaving me with a bike that I could no longer ride. I wonder who the drunken driver was !!!!!!!
