  1. 1st of October 2011 will be the first day of competition at Chiangrai Hills Stadium in Maechan / Chiangrai.

The stadium took two years to build and is part of the projects of the Chao Phya Abhai Raja Foundation.

The Chiangai Hills project is special in many ways, especially since it will be run by disadvantaged - but talented - hill tribe youngsters.

Google "Chiangrai Hills" to visit the website, or find more on the Facebook page of Chiangrai Hills Stadium.

  2. Beautiful cars! It would have been nice if it were mentioned here BEFORE the event instead of after so that the riff-raff could have attended as well as the elite or, of it was invitation only which I imagine it was, we could have at least admired from a distance!

In fact it was announced in advance on Weah Radio by the DJs who told where the cars would be passing.

Quite a number of people went to Doi Tung, Maechan and the Chiangrai Clock Tower to see the cars.

But you are right, it would have been nice to have it included in the agenda of chiangraitourist .com too...

  3. Chiangrai United in Premier League... That's a dream becoming reality... but a very expensive dream.

The budget for the coming season has exploded. This year, the management, the sponsors and the Chiangrai United fans are all important to the success of the team.

Chiangrai United and the Chiangrai People will have to be rather creative to allow the team to compete at the highest level in the best possible conditions.

Revenues are very important and every ticket, t-shirt or key chain sold will help the team to reach its objectives.

Weah Radio joined hands with Chiangrai United to open a new way for the Chiangrai United fans to support their club: The Gold and Platinum Club cards.

By making a donation to the club, fans can get benefits such as reserved parking, fast track to the stands, VIP lounge, tickets sent direct by mail, complementary food and drinks, etc...

Benefits of the Platinum Club includes complementary catering provided by Le Meridien Chiangrai.

These benefits will be available at the Mae Fah Luang stadium for the beginning of the season, and then at the Chiangrai United stadium, once completed.

Both the Gold card and Platinum card holders will receive the same benefits at the Chiangrai Hills Stadium, which should be completed in about 4 months in Maechan.

You can read more about this on the Weah Radio website.

  4. gerry if you want to rent that out i can get 5-7k per day for it depending upon driver source.

boater, i guarantee my clients would rent that one and they would buy bottles of champagne for the drive to nikki beach where they would buy more champagne just to spray on everyone else.

I can't help you Joe, I am in Chiangrai...

  5. i've seen a couple hummers driving past me with for sale signs in the window but i wasn't able to get the number. lol though at hummers being anything luxurious. i used to live 15 minutes away from the factory where they are all built and they are nothing but disposable crap that needs constant repair. they aren't even particularly expensive, just unique to the area and that's what my clients want, and will pay for.

I do have an H2. I also don't think that it should be considered as a luxury car. It is expensive in this country because of the taxes.

However, what I can also say is that the H2 is the most enjoyable car I ever owned. It is a question of taste, of course.

And regarding the repairs, I never had any problem yet. I live in the north and met the owner of a casino that is on the Laos'side. They also bought 11 H2 that they use as transfer limos. Unique indeed.

  6. 4th of December... important day.

The grass arrived and in one day the work was done by the Chiangrai Hills players themselves.

Now another 3 months of patience, lots of watering and good care, before to play.

More can be seen on the Chiangrai Hills website.

  8. The construction of the Chiangrai Hills stadium is under way.

The rainy season has made the progress rather slow but it should be quicker once the cold season arrives.

The stadium will be ready at the earliest next March.

The stadium will be the private field of the full hill tribe team Chiangrai Hills.

Other activities than football matches will also be organized at the stadium, which will have a giant LED screen, the biggest in the north of Thailand.

Updated pictures of the construction can be found on the Chiangrai Hills website.

The preparation of the 2 fields is finished and the grass should be planted in about a month.

High standards were followed for the construction, including for the training field.

The stands will sit approximately 2000 persons, while at least 1000 others will be able to sit or watch the matches from around the field.

Shops will make it available for the visitors of the stadium to buy drinks, coffee, food, Chiangrai Hills and Chiangrai United souvenirs, and sport clothes from all around the main field.

The ones who have the hardest time at the moment are the Chiangrai Hills players... who have to wait, wait and wait, before to be able to play on their own field.

Happiness is at the end of the tunnel

  9. You might be interested to join the (free) Chiangrai United party at Dusit Island hotel on the 21st at 6.30pm.

The party will be the occasion to announce a new (renewed in fact) partnership which will help the team to reach the Thai Premier League.

    Copy of invitation attached...

Oooohh 'free' and 'party', two of my favourite words! I just saw some pics on facebook that Miti posted (from the Christmas party I think) and was wondering when the next one will be, I want my pic taken with the orange girls and Lamborghini which, coincidentally, are another two of my favourite words.

The Lambo will be there too... together with some other "Chiangrai (near) Super Cars", such as Audi TT, BMW Z4, Nissan Fairlady, Posrche and more...

For those who are not able to go, there is always a way to be part of the party (also for free), through the website of Weah Radio, which will broadcast the event live (follow the Chiangrai United links).

  11. He seems very well spoken to me. His arguments and points do have merit. Not all of the leaders are in their homes, more than one is still at/nearby the protest site.

Unfortunately, for the reds, the propaganda machine designed to meld the minds of the locals works especially well on most foreigners living here.

Are you joking? The man is clearly lying. He is trying to make the claim that the reds are not armed. The whole world KNOWS that is a lie.

Yes, and the whole world also knows that only the red side lies. The government, the yellows or any other colors (that is not red) would never do such a thing!

Propaganda is a very efficient tool to shape the opinion of the mass. But it is up to anyone to chose to listen to both sides or not.

Lies are everywhere, but I still have respect for those who chose to die for the cause in which they believe.
