That is good to hear that the doctor was happy to give the vaccine. Did you have to sign anything to say you understood and accept any risks and understood the restrictions.

I don't remember signing anything, but could be wrong.  I MIGHT have signed. 🤷‍♂️

I asked at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital about the age limit and was told that no research has been carried out in over 60s, so vaccine is not being made available for us seniors.

I went there and they told me the same thing.  I am 66, and I asked if I could get despite the lack of evidence. The Dr. said yes, so some doctors might be flexible?  He said it might not prevent it, but if you get it, the symptoms might be less severe.  Who knows.  Might prevent it, might make it less severe, might not.  I got it anyway. No side effects.  I got the Shingles vaccine at the same time.  One in one arm, one in the other.  The Shingles arm was sore for days.

Can anyone who has done this confirm wife has to attend? And if so is it for first renewal only?

Yes, in SaKaeo in December 2022.  My wife was outside and they called her in and asked her some questions.  Then they had her sign a copy or her Thai ID.  They actually suggested that I make the change to reduce the amount of documents we had to submit every year.  The Marriage extension has a lot of requirements.  The retirement extension is simple, but more money has to be left in the bank.  I went in planning to renew my marriage extension and walked out with a retirement extension.

  4. Here is a web site that has 30 house designs.  Maybe one will work for you?  The complete architecture designs for each design are also linked on the page, but it can be tricky to match the house picture with the architectural drawings.  Using one of these designs will speed up the whole build process.  The design will be accepted by the government.  We built #23, just about ready for move-in!  I included the architectural drawing for #23, which is a compact design that might fit on your plot.

  5. Plenty of spots near Jomtien Beach if you don't like the sound of loud music and booming bass while trying to sleep. ???? I guess I am just getting old. ????  Are any of the Pattaya places mentioned here far enough from the beer bars that you don't hear the music?  I stayed at Sawadee Siam during a recent visit, oy vey, never again.

We bought a new Ford Explorer in Bangkok in November from a Ford dealer.  Still no white plates.  I have driven it to some different provinces without knowing that was an issue.  I have gone through dozens of check points, which could have been trouble because we were outside of our home province.  I don't drive it at night.  My Thai wife bought the truck in her name, I am Farang, and I am the only driver.  I hate the red plates, precisely because it says "steal me, I am brand new".  I want the white plates!  I see that going to the DLT was recommended.  I guess I will try that next.  Is it the dealer or buyers responsibility to acquire the white plates?  The dealer keeps saying they are working on it.  Thanks for this thread, I will look back at some of the older threads too.

3 months to the day, we got notice that the white plates are "in the mail".  They sent a picture of the plates and the blue book.  Woohoo!  We have been calling them once a week.

  8. Smart TVs are the way to go.  No more expensive than non-Smart really.  I'd suggest getting an Android based Smart-TV, especially if you an Android phone.  You can add any app that runs on Android OS, including a VPN app like NordVPN.  They auto-update so you always have the latest Android OS.  Adding a firestick, or any USB, or even a DVD player works well.  I use mine as a monitor during the day, but it also has Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, etc. so me and the wifey can watch TV or movies at night.

  9. The swab test at the airport in Phuket is brutal.  Be ready.  They shove that thing into your lungs, both nostrils.  People coughing, sneezing, whining.

The 2nd required swab test is very gentle, one nostril only.  How about a little consistency?  Stop giggling.

My requirement changed from 14 days to 10 days, so I got a refund on the required 3rd test and I got a refund from the hotel on the extra 4 nights.  Nice.
