  1. I've had shirts done at Narin, and they did a good job. The owner can come across as arrogant (educated in France), but the workmanship was great, he will listen to your wishes, and the clothes are made in-house. Don't know if he can do a proper suit though. Also a bit expensive, at 2500B per shirt, but well worth it imo.

I also had shirts done at Raja that so many people seem to recommend, not happy, they didn't listen to what I wanted and made shirts I rarely use.

  2. I'm not surprised, but lot of men here seems to think women would only have sex if it means they can marry the guy later on. Thai girl likes to hook up with guys just the same way western girls does. Best spare your judgements and not comment at all if you won't answer the guys questions.

Bangkok doesn't feel very green to me, even with the parks. Have you been to Chiang Mai? It ticks all your boxes.

  3. Hi!

As wine is really expensive in Bangkok, I'd like to buy some either in Phnom Penh before flying in, or at the airport. Two questions:

Should I do my wine shopping in PP or at Suvarnabhumi Duty-Free?

How many bottles can I bring in?

  4. All which should lead us to really question: is news or information qualified to acquire "rights"? And who chooses what we can or can't absorb.

Mind, we are be taken for suckers as we accept the ideals of complete corporate/government that stimulation can be packaged and marketed. The winners, they will be.

So you think downloading a film for free is alright as well? If so, please give us your surely superb articulated reasoning to why.

  5. Put some clingfilm over the toilets and then put the seats down, and out the plugs in the sinks, bath etc.

If the water evaporates out of the traps while you''re away you'll com back to a stink.

Top advice. Three months should be enough to forget about the cling film...

    Let's stick around...

    SC

You just ruined an epic practical joke, and I salute you for it :D If I put cling film, I will at least mark it.

I will do the place up with anti insect chalk, and anti roach bait. Spray would surely lose effect after one day, yeah?

  6. There's a good chance you're wrong. Norwegian TV show clips from foreign news stations, I don't automatically assume they are stealing the material. Norwegian TV-shows use music that is not an original piece written for the show, I don't automatically assume they are stealing the music.

Hey, I even read an Associated Press piece in Bangkok post the other day, you think they are stealing as well?

To sum up, don't just assume nothing is in order just because you are in Thailand.

  7. Litlle India has heaps of restaurants, veg, non-veg, North and South Indian. Little India is at the end of Chinatown, At the end of Thanon Yaowarat. In Chakrapetch Road,Wangburapha, 10200. Most of the restaurants are on the left hand side of the road, between the road and a klong.Explore -seek and ye shall find. Varied prices and quality . 99.99% of their customers are Indian, Rare to see Farang eating there.

Says a lot about the people frequenting these forums that this didn't turn up before page two :)

For anone looking for a fix near the Sukhumvit Area, I recommend New Bakharas. Not cheap, but they are a mark above the rest of the early Sukhumvit places in my opinion.

  8. If a massage hurts too much your muscles will tense up which is the opposite of the intended effect. A little pain is OK as long as you can stay relaxed during it, but as soon as it is bad enough for you to tense up in response it is counter-productive.

A really good masseuse will know by the feel of your muscles how far they can safely go. Basically, as strong as they can without the muscles tensing is right. Also, a really good masseuse will start out gently and gradually ratchet up the pressure. this allows your muscles to start to relax first, which in turn means less pain when she goes deep. I find failure to do this to be one of the most common mistakes here...often what produces pain would not have if it had started off more gently first. But once they've pressed hard enough to cause real pain, you're tense.

Unfortunately really good massuese are rare here, even among the ones that are clearly properly trained and better than average for here, there is a tendency to stick to a set formula and do the same to everyone rather than tailoring to the client's response. In which case, no recourse but to speak up.

in deciding whether to tell them to go more gently, the key criteria is: are you able to keep your muscles relaxed with whatever they are doing? If so then even if it is a bit painful, in my experience you'll benefit from tolerating it. B ut if it is making you tense up, immediately complain. With some people unfortunatelty you'll have to keep doing that. Which is a good indication to go elsewhere next time.

On the other hand if the whole thing is completely pain free, they're not working into your muscles deeply enough to do much good. It's a fine balance. The best massages will involve a lot of stretch and pull that you can feel but which is not excruciating and some sore spots that hurt but not too much, and feel better as they go along.

Great reply, and it really describes what I have been suspecting - that it is probably not a great massage if I tense up (which I tend to do most of the times), and neither if they don't apply enough pressure. I also have a feeling a really good masseuse should be able to spot problem areas (for example left shoulder having lots of tension in it) and work more on those areas, something that never happens.

Seems like I have to go looking for that special one to take care of all my massages. Can any of you recommend places in Bangkok?
