  1. Personally, I'm sufficiently cautious about the possibility that the Fed cannot inflate the US out of this crisis that I am now buying deep OTM puts on gold. Just as a hedge, you understand :o As many here will know, I advocate owning precious metals, though I'm not a goldbug by any stretch of the imagination.

News clippings are no substitute for insight, so It's nice to see you back.

Not sure about Gold, but Gold stocks are approaching, what has been in the recent past, a buy signal.

How can you say its approaching a buy zone? In the past 6 years when the price has reached this point on the chart the price has dropped greatly..Your buy zone/sell zones are back to front, your buying at the top and selling at the bottom. The price briefly broke out in 2000 but quickly retraced. If your going by this chart you should be looking to sell now and only re-enter if a sustained breakout out on decent volume breaks the resistance level (with close stops).

  2. Personally I see the drop as just a blow off from increased speculation and frenzied buying of the past several months and completely healthy/necessary...Gold needs to take a break IMHO before heading higher and I would not be comfortable buying any extra until it forms some sort of support level over the next several weeks/months (im not someone who will risk a large % drop in price by buying after/during a big run up just because "everyone knows its going higher, just keep holding and buying" thats .Bomb mentality).

  3. I think a lot of the replys here are a sad reflection of todays society...dont get involved, nothing to do with you....one reason police these days tell victims to scream "Fire" or something rather than "Help Me" if their alone being attacked...because people wont come to look help you otherwise...

And yes the whole "Culture" thing is a BS argument....female genital mutilation is some peoples culture, slavery is some peoples culture, beheadings, stoning etc etc...all someones culture, does that mean we have to just accept it?? Cultures change over time, mostly for the better...the more people help promote such change the quicker it will arrive...never just accept "culture" as an argument over human decency..

  4. New Camry beats the BMW 3 series etc hands down...Cheaper and more luxurious....Also looks the mutts nutts.

Wow, now THAT is a bold claim... Please, explain in what way a Toyota beats a BMW? Handling? 0-60? breaking? road comfort? Cornering? quality of interior? exterior? or safety?

I do agree that for a lot of people it's a better choice here in Thailand. Cars beeing crazy expensive over here. But a toyota Camry is still a toyota. Despite the good looks of the 2007 model, it could would never challenge a BMW in any way.

    :-)

Heres your problem, your simply looking at the brand name....Ive been in a new BMW 3 series and a new Camry...give me the Camry any day..no I didnt read statistics on 0-60 etc, I was suitably UN-impressed with the BMW interior, especially for the money outlay, exterior both are nice looking cars, both give a smooth ride....Why get a old BMW 3 when you can get a brand new Camry? As I said above, if you can stretch to a 5 series then you are going above and beyond a Camry...Again tho, depends if your just looking for a brand name. Which lets be honest, I doubt his wife is thinking about 0-60, cornering etc etc when she mentions "I want a BMW"....

  5. If you go somewhere like Fashion Club/Slim or Mixx, take a bottle with you, works out cheaper...buy Vodka, Barcardi whatever you want, then to take it inside they charge like 500 baht (Fashion Club charged for my Smirnoff Vodka)....Fashion Club/Slim is my fave place in town atm. But yeah wouldn't go expecting to spend less than 5k there as it is pricey...

  6. IMHO unless you can afford a newer 5 series or better go for a brand new Camry...other than that your just paying for the name (which is probably what your wife wants)...New Camry beats the BMW 3 series etc hands down...Cheaper and more luxurious....Also looks the mutts nutts.

  7. i suggest investing in some wireless cameras etc....try and capture who it is who has done this to you...when you find out 100% go Macavelian on their behinds and pay people to demolish/firebomb their homes, poison any/all animals that they have and in general annihilate their property. this may sound harsh, but people messing with ones self hold themselves to blame and in turn deserve no sympathy.

  8. My father has been in great health for 66 years, spent 1 night in hospital when he was 9 to have his appendix out, two weeks ago had a minor stroke and bamn, 87 000 baht in 3 days for tests, medication and general treatment....

How long is this budget too last, how do you figure to handle inflation?

  9. After going to any Dr I always look up online any medication prescribed and the problem they concluded and see if i then agree with their prognosis/treatment.....may sound like stupid self Doctoring but to be frank i dont trust Drs, had far too many f88k ups from them over the years.....

  10. Dont do the crime if you cant do the time, be it in jail or 6 feet under....do me harm I will make sure to do all I can to cause you harm....don't care if you've stopped trying to do me harm and running away or not....you have to take a Machiavellian view on these things and crucify those who do you harm. They obviously thought 45 000 baht was worth attacking someone with an axe, so their life was obviously worth 45 000 baht too.

  11. I cant believe people are looking at using dettol and bleach to wash away harmful pesticides and dirt in their food, even in small amounts...do you think you are actually improving the situation? That label that says "Do not ingest" on the bottle means, "Do not eat" you know! Its HARMFUL to you....if your really worried about washing your food, use boiled tap water or bottled water. In addition salt added to water is a great disinfectant and all natural (and wont kill you).

  12. MAYOR: All right, let's have it.

    HARRY: Have what?

MAYOR: Your report. What have you been doing?

HARRY: Well for the past three quarters of an hour I've been sitting on my ass in your outer office waiting on you.

    ---------------

MAYOR: I don't want any more trouble like you had last year in the Fillmore district. Understand? That's my policy.

HARRY: Yeah, well when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the b[]stard. That's my policy.

MAYOR: Intent? How did you establish that?

HARRY: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross. (Leaves)

    MAYOR: I think he's got a point.

    Dirty Harry

  13. Ive had severe arthritis for the past 24 years (im now 28)....in wheelchair for past 14 years, hip replacements at 18 and 26..

Coming here has helped me loads, not just in helping with the aches and pains but in getting me moving about and doing things....the weather makes you want to go out to bars, restaurants see people etc rather than sit at home with it pouring rain and cold outside...I have access daily to a pool so I can exercise and strengthen my bones/muscles which I could never have in the UK, I can afford to pay good people to help me when I need it rather than have the nightmare help I was offered in the UK too.

  14. Ive only been in Thailand for 4 months total but have tried to study Thai over the past year....So far I have a vocab of about 600 words and can read about 75% of Thai (slowly), my biggest problem with reading Thai is not so much the actual letters/vowels but my vocab just isnt big enough so I dont know what it is im reading lots of the time! My biggest problem when listening to Thais talk is the speed in which they talk, or if they talk in a very long sentence and my mind just cant translate it all as they speak...now im living here a lot of the common every day words are getting more and more routine to me now tho which is making it alot easier.

It does suprise a lot of Thais when I speak Thai to them, and it does give me a sense of self satisfaction that Im learning and developing something which I consider important but so many farangs never attempt.

  15. Im in the same boat, 1 month of Xatalan left and Pred Forte steriod drops...Got a prescription for them from Bangkok Pattaya along with some other drugs and nearly fainted at the price...looking to find somewhere else to get them from.

  16. Im looking for a car that is suitable for my needs which include plenty of space and the possibility of ripping out some of the back seats to make room for a wheelchair/ramp...

So far weve looked at the Toyota and Nissan minibus types (i.e. the Commuter, Ventury) but they seem overly large and expensive....

Yesterday we saw a Toyota Lucida and a Kia Carnival at some second hand car garages off Sukhumvit Pattaya.....which appear to fit the bill, however the Lucida was priced at 680 000 baht and a 1996 model with 88k kms on the clock....

We checked from Big C South Pattaya all along Sukhumvit to the Toyota garages in north Pattaya....and the two above were the only real options we saw....does anyone have any other places worth checking out and would it be worth going to Bangkok to look? Any large car supermarkets there??

    Cheers.

  17. I need a wee bit of info/advice please on applying for my Visa...

Basically Im stuck in Ireland atm till about 19th of Feb when Im planning on flying to Thailand from the UK on the 27th of Feb....As yet I dont have my visas sorted out tho and was wondering on the following:

Is the Thai Consul in Dublin open to issuing Non-Imm Os Multi Entry to people on UK passports? I understand the consul in Hull is very good at issuing them.

    And,

For purpose of visit, what you suggest as a good reason? My folks can switch over to retirement visa later on, but as Im not married/visiting relatives etc (just wishing to spend an extended period of time over there) just curious as to what would be appropriate to mention for a Non-Imm O M.

If the embassy in Dublin is a no goer im tempted to Fedex the forms/passports etc to a friend in Wales to get it all done at Hull and have him Fedex everything back!

    Cheers
