  1. Yesterday I was on Sukhumvit - it's fun to play with some shop owners and girls coming from job :o

For day time you can try go to Kao san road - but too late for this year - try next one.

For night time Patpong looks good, I played until 5am 2 nights ago.. was also fun.

Of course the best clothes are: swimming shorts, copied soccer shirt from Pratunam (it's dry very fast - especially Italy), and that's absolutely all!! If u need telephone, money or anything else be sure u protect it from water. Water bag is the best choice but using multiple plastic bags is not much worse.

    Have fun :D

  2. My friend takes girls for 1 or 2 nights and he usually tells them he is a doctor, earns a lot of money, blablabla.. but then he never wanna pay at mornings.. he found the way to make them go. Usually he calls some friend, they order food and eat together - of course thai lady becomes hungry (and thai people has to eat RIGHT now) and she is too shy / polite to ask for some food. And they ignore her.. so after while she gives up and go home .

There's a kind of evil genius to this :D:o .

Your friend sounds like a bit of an arse!

    Mark

I know, and what to do with that? I don't care, especially he is good companion to have fun in pubs.

I do it rather another way - if I like some girl and she says: "I go with u", I answer: "Up to you, but I will never pay for taking girl to my room". After longer conversation usually they agree.. at morning we eat together breakfast, that's all.. and later they call more often and asking they can come for some fun and conversation or not.

  3. Ufff... I have girlfriend who spends with me almost 24h a day. I teach her a bit how to help me in my small business. So she can work for herself (and for me).. Anyway we often meet my friends - farangs and her friends - thais. And I hear a lot of stories. Some friends of my gf call her to get some advises.. it's usually something like that:

"aw.. i love this farang, but he is bf of my friend - from my village, but 2 night ago he was completely drunk so I had sex with him.. and yesterday I met him but he went from me, so I called him, he didn't pick up the phone - i don't know why"..

not long time later the lady they were talking about call and say - "my bf is so wonderful, but I have already another one - just can't tell him now about it.. he promised me some gifts - so I have to wait".. and then - we go somewhere together (all these cheaters, hehe) - I know all secrets - everybody fakes around.. and one of my friend take one of these girls home. Of course she said "I have bf, I love him very much, so we just go for moment".. during sex bf calls and she puts phone into underpants of my friend and talks to him - "ok, my bf can talk to our friend".. the stories are a lot more complicated but..

.. I am lost now who loves whom, who has more money and who has bigger "business" and other stuff.. even if my gf tells me those stories with names.. Bobby is that man, and Marc is this another.. I just nod and smile :o I think how smart are all these farangs who spend fortunes to their only girls :D

Aw.. the funniest thing is they are not bar-girls, they rarely go to pubs or on disco.. and they have very often regular not-well paid jobs. First time I was really shocked (especially after I met some "couples"). But now - after history of guy who lived 5 years with girlfriend and at the end he found that "her brother" living not far is in the truth her husband - nothing can surprise me :D

Even yesterday I met sweet couple, they just came from Europe. My gf wanted talk with lady (thai friend) - so I wanted take her bf (farang) somewhere.. I joked: "let's go to soi cowboy for 2 beers", he just answered he never goes there and he is good boy.. 1 day before I was listening stories how many boyfriends she has actually at once and it's more and more difficult for her :D She works in big tourist company and don't like bars at all :D

    Amazing Thailand..

  4. My first run to Vientiane was like that. Boring like hel_l - never more !!

It's why I found some more active run - I described above :o Vang Vieng can be both mega-silent near the river or pubs/bars oriented fun. And no prostitutes attacking you around :D Really nice place :D

If have more time - can try Luang Prabang, but for visa run/rest it can be too long.

  5. All you guys write seems so complicated to me. I do visa run every 2 months (new rule for my country: 1 month visa (in abroad consulate) + 1month ext) and nobody asked me about anything yet. Last time I came from Laos officer said:

    - but I can give u visa only for 30 days, can be?

    - no, can't.. give me 60 days please, ok?

    - can't.. for your country 30 days, so - can be?

    - cannot! but if I say cannot u will give me 30 days anyway, yes?

    - yes :o

So anyway, for ma all these "new" rules and regulations are black magic. I just do my visa runs and nobody asks me for how many days I am where or what or anything else :D

Luckily I found school now and next run I will apply for ED 1-year visa.

  6. Please tell me..

I have decided to go to Vientiane Laos to get a new tourist visa. I had 60 days, went to immigration office to get 30 more days, did 3 visa runs to Maesai and now I have to go a thai embassy or immigration office or what the name is..

Where is that place in Vientiane?

Is Vientiane a easy place to get a new Visa? ( I was told Cambodia was the worst..)

Can someone recommend a goos place to stay for a capital of days?

Glad for every little piece of information I can get. :o

Easy to get visa - the best plan for me (with some rest and fun part of run) is:

    1) thursday evening - going by train or bus (watch out songkran isaan crowd),

    2) friday morning - apply for visa

    3) friday afternoon - take bus from northern terminal to Vang Vieng,

    4) saturday - try tubing and jump from the highest swind u can find - of course drink a lot of Beer Lao,

    5) sunday - take a bike and go to Blue Lagoon and some caves around,

    6) monday morning - take buss at 7:00am and go to Vientiane,

    7) get visa around noon,

    8) go to Nong Khai - get bus or train at evening to Bkk

    Good luck and have fun..

  7. Just called True helpline,

and after a 10 minute hold, the very polite lady very politely informed me in perfect english that Youtube has indded been blocked by ICT,

thanks a bunch whoever insulted the Thai Monarchy, you've ######ed things up for all of us. :o

Isn't better to block just this movie and write to youtube MODs for remove it and ban user who put it and IP?

  8. I doubt it's a censorship issue. More like another bandwidth issue.

I got green page first.. and then they realized they shouldn't do it so they change to "another bandwidth issue".

  9. My thai boyfriend wants "us" to buy land for his grandparents. Now, we are not talking big money, about 1,000 Euro for 1 Rai (Which I am told is 800 sq metres). While I want to make my partner happy, my understanding is that only Thai's can own land but that Farang can own the property built on it, if registered the right way. Is this true? How common is it for "certain thais" to hook a farang, get land and abandon ship?

I am loved up but have a cynical soul and have a firm life ethos of "Love many & trust no-one". That said, I don't have a major concern at losing a grand. We are together almost a year, I have been to Thailand 3 times, each for a month, and move finally on Dec 28th (not to be with him, but to lead a less materialistic life with a better cost of living than home and more sun etc etc. after another month in November to finalise house, bike etc. Perhaps I am being too untrusting etc but my head begs me to ask the question "Am I a target"? Any advice appreciated. I will, of course, engage the services of a professional agency to check the bona fida of said individual prior to arrival to ascertain whether I move to a house alone or with t'other half. (By the way, not sure of the relevance but we speak on msn with cam daily for the year or so thus far)

    Stevie (Ireland)

All people I know in Thailand who stay here longer than 10 years had "adventures" with thai bf/gf/wives/husbands. If everything goes smooth and everybody is happy you are in paradise.. if Thai is unhappy has no problem with taking everything from you - house, money (if kept in Thai account), all. One my friend lost 2 houses by this way, another only 1 house.. and even one my friend (girl) had thai husband - lost all she had either :o So be sure you will not cry after losing everything or be sure your bf is always happy.

  11. MTW: This would have to be the wisest advice I have read on this Forum in a long time. It seems to happen everywhere in Thailand.

    Conversation

Thai bf: Would you like to come to karaeoke tonight?

Me: Yes - that would be nice.

Thai bf: We get drink (alcohol) at shop and take to karaeoke. Cheaper - only pay for mixers (soda water, cola, ice).

Me: Good thinking. You are clever. Save me money.

Fast forward 2 minutes. Thai bf's 'friends' mysteriously appear - about 5 of them! Without any phone calls being exchanged, they knew we were heading to the karaeoke bar.

Fast forward to end of the night: Guess who got the bill for the whole evening?

Me: I did not invite your 'friends' !!!

Thai bf: They do not have any money.

Me: Next time they pay - or do not join us!

    Thai bf: Bewildered silence.

    Peter

And then you paid? Pretty smart - in situation like that I pay for what I think I should pay and that's all. I say - sorry, i don't have any money either, you should tell me before you wanna take friends. I have last 100 baht for taxi and I left ATM card at home. It always works, suddenly everybody checks how much money they have and they pay politely. Nothing new.

  12. Yeah, probably troll :o

I've never given any money to my girlfriend nor she asked me for any. And usually I keep few thousand in my pockets or on my desk.. during 3 years I've never lost a single baht. Just sometimes if we order food we pay money we can find around - doesn't metter money is hers or mine. I explained to her I prefer to teach her something or pay money to finish some school (like tourist guide) then support her every month for beeing my gf. And it works.. she was working for 2 seasons as a guide and earned 5 times more than I paid for studies and then I had opportunity to give her job by myself. Then I give her % as a salary - because she does 70-80% of all job needed. And she is happy of that and never ask me for more.. and from time to time she takes me to restaurant and pays by herself.

And if not troll... dunno what to advise. And they ignore her.. so after while she gives up and go home :D

But in this case one year together - it's not gonna work. But you can try to not give any money. 3000 THB for thai lady? 3 times per day noodles? No cosmetics? No hygiene stuff? You sure it's her only salary? Did you visit her in this "restaurant"? :D

  13. My first 2 years in Thailand I lived here on Student Visas .... far easier to get the letter from the MoE from a Uni than a new language school but if the director is qualified that is great! People MAY find that Sing and other places will only issue single entry Non-Imm-ED visas and make the school request extensions and send paperwork showing that the sttudent is actively enrolled and progressing

Owner of that school told me already - 60% frequency, if less he's gonna report it to immigration.

  14. By default items are not added to your sent folder unless you select that option prior to sending.

Yeah, thank you.. I found it already.

I have full "Sent Items" folder - all messages from 2 years ago. So probably default was changed, because I never care too much about that. And I didn't think too much now.. sorry for posting :o And again, thanks for help.

  15. I am bored of visa runs (sometimes they are quite expensive and boring - especially I saw all countries around already and I visited many places inthere), so I found another way to stay longer and LEGAL in Thailand. And cheap.

I've looked for a while and found quite nice school of anglish (but rather expensive) and THAI (experimental one - similar to callan method in english) and it's gonna be pretty cheap.

Owner needs just few more students to decrease the price, so I post on this forum to help everybody (and myself either smile.gif).

The most important is - after 2 weeks I got letter from ministry which allows me to get student visa (abroad, I think wherever but I am not sure about that). My friend used it already and got 1 year student visa in KL (she has to visit immigration after 3 months).

Visa is for the period of studies - 1 year. And there are gonna be 200 lessons during a year (min frequency: 60%). It means twice a week (2 hours) - not big deal.

Lessons will start probably around May but future students can join later. And school is around BTS Sukhumvit line.

If somebody is interested in prices and more information and adress of the school pm me please (or write an e-mail).

  17. You can not renew but you can obtain a 30 day extension of a 60 day stay with payment of 1,900 baht at an immigration office.

You have 6 months to use your entries so you can do 60/exit/60/exit/60 or you could do 60+30/exit/60+2x/exit (enter while 6 month visa valid) 60+30.

Lopburi - some countries get 60 days in airport? Before I always had 60 days, but now (last 2 entries) I got only 30 days (TR visa from thai embassy).

  18. The rules changed in October. He is allowed to enter Thailand on Visa free stamps for upto 90 days in any 180 day period. They count days not stamps. He is unlikely to get a multiple entry visa in Cambodia but should he ever return to UK he could get a multi entry visa there. If he should reach the 90 day limit and still needs to enter Thailand he could get a single entry tourist visa in Cambodia which would allow him 60 days in Thailand but once he leaves the visa is finished unless he gets a re entry permit from Thai immigration before he leaves.

I just got 30 days tourist visa in KL. I've stayed in Thailand for 2,5 years. October -> January = 4 months. I think u can get visas every 2 months in embassies around Thailand and u can stay as long u pay 2000THB every month.
