Heheh I have to laugh because the OP is so true
& I see this often. But also I would like to know how to say
"excuse me" in Chinese will have to look it up
Because so often when walking I find myself behind a pack of Chinese tourist blocking
the way into somewhere & I just cannot seem to get their attention.
Of course I try Kor Tort & excuse me but no reaction.
Then again they are usually chattering away with each other & they sure speak loudly.
Makes me smile wondering if they also have a lot of Wat loud speakers where they live.
Just barge straight through them...that's what they are used to.

How many farang teachers have had proper teacher training though?
What for?
Have you ever taught here?
There are 2 distinct foreign teacher sets.
One subject teaching and the other English conversation teaching. Very different.
Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6
Sounds the defensive attitude of someone who hasn't had adequate teacher training.

One of the factors has to be the large percentage of low quality English 'teachers' in Thailand (Thai and foreign).
...and you base this statement on what?
Regards foreigners, how many are properly qualified teachers? Bugger all I would say.
As for Thai English teachers, well....where to start?

The guy tried to flee but the lady in question held him back until her friends arrived.
What a wimpy little weakling. Can't even escape from a drugged up chick. Deserves to go to jail for that alone.

Put them on a warning......final warning.......down the road.
Gotta be better than sucking them (as you said) as you might do in Europe. Get all sorts of nasty diseases that way.

I suppose this is a genuine Hub
Thailand is a hub of the international black market in protected animals.
The above is a NZ news quote.

Wife's family is pretty decent to me.
Father is 80 and always is respectful to me. (Mother is dead)
Brother number 1 sold us some cheap land and organized for the house to be built.
Brother number 2 likes to have a drink.
Brother number 3 speaks some English and is always willing to chat.
Sister number 1 and sister-in-law number 1 are a bit shy but nice enough.
All are happy I am a good husband to their daughter and all dote over our son.
I have contributed small amounts here and there to help with various things, but when some extended relative asked for 200 K once, the wife put him in his place and he hasn't been heard from since.

I have images of an old farmer letting his buffalo on to the track to take a dump at the first hairpin. Also, an old lady pushing her somtam/gai yang cart across the back straight.

Who said it was 400 billion USD?
Most people understand what Bt400 billion means.

It's not small change by any means but the numbers are in THB and not USD so don't get carried away. And as a percentage of GDP the actual losses are small, just before somebody (you know who) chirps in that the rice scheme will bankrupt the country..
Somewhere in the vicinity of 10+ billion USD in losses. Don't get carried away?
>Who cares about GDP? It's massive. To think how it could have been spent.
So how was it spent, much of it was spent by various Thaksin governements to subsidise the rural poor.
How do you spend a loss?

Not to trivialise the loss but In the context of GDP it's a small number, and, the losses being talked about represent the losses from ALL agricultural schemes under various Thaksin governments, not just the losses from the rice scheme that's in the headlines currently.
Ahhh...OK. Got it. It's all those other schemes as well that that have added up to this small loss (in terms of GDP). That's OK then. All good.....nothing to see here people....move on.
Chiang Mai should become a propaganda spokesman for the Thaksin government.

Never mind pissing about...
Kor-tote, kor check-out dai mai khrap?
Excuse me, may I check out please?
They're not gonna say no, and you're also subtly pointing out their poor manners without sacrificing any of your own face through silly Thai usage or poor form.
Why would you want to check out? Checking in would be better no?
