Try the 'Home' keyboard button, works for me.

Although things have got quicker i'm still having speed problems with returning to a previous page using the return arrow in the top left of a page.

Never use back button on a forum, it's not designed for that. Use the breadcrumbs instead.

And yet still have to sign in, every time. and then go to latest news, get a year old thread, or one story then reads Comments are turned off, no other stories, then go around in circles to find 'Latest news' its worse now than it ever was and few 'Full story' links.

If you don't sign out, you shouldn't be forced to login again. Does your browser accept cookies or are you deleting cookies when you close your browser?

Cookies is a must as forum software relies on them.

Yeah, it´s very fast now. Good job. However, the up arrow, is probably no plugin. just a function that has to be activated in the general settings of the forum.

No, we have to write a plugin this week for that purpose. Now its possible to use plugins again.

But you've always been running the site through Cloudflare as a proxy. This configuration should have already increased the site's speed exponentially.

Yes, but we was on a low budget hosting that was very slow, not enough resources.

22 years of data = ~300GB MySQL database, ~350GB user pics etc. Moving from Canada to Singapore. Slow internet due to underwater cable issues. Professional people doing this migration, don't worry.

No, unfortunately part of database can't be moved as forum software is very special, impossible to set to read-only, and we can't risk losing any data.

A necessary database maintenance is also being done while migrating. This very time consuming indeed (mysql dump + transfer of db plus import of MySQL dump into new server database with 4x better prestanda.

We are doing this process during low traffic (weekend). No other way to do this.

After move it could be a bumpy ride for a day or so as we optimize database and fix any software issues.

It's not only to "copy things over" I can assure you...

We will continue maintenance at some point tomorrow, as it’s late and datacenter guys does not work overtime.

It might be a free tip but you said earlier that I would have to pay for the full service so as a Scot I have to declare I have not tried it!

PS;  Do you have any discounts on offer?

Good idea! Let me check if ASEAN NOW members can get a free trial or similar. I'll talk with Google Bangkok office.

Start with the free version, you will love it!

In Bangkok, many times, but note in some branch only a few machine/till are mastercard only, whereas regular machine are visa/mastercard+others  even before they put the minimum back up to 300 baht back in the middle of last year

only time I find it didn't work is with some supermarket edc where it must be linked to the cash register and the underground trains

I doubt 7-eleven accept Google Wallet.

And vendors who accept Mastercard also accept VISA cards, as it's included in their banks merchant account.

Depending where you live in TH, it might be annoying enough to always have a few 1000 baht on you.   Though plenty of wet/fresh markets and ma/pa shops that don't rely on electric.

Most vendors at markets have mobile phones and will happily take PromptPay (QR payments).

It would be good to get Google Wallet on an IOS device so we can add local cards to it and use it as we would ApplePay.

(Unfortunately ApplePay and Thailand are not aligned at the moment - most likely due to a certain 'major business family' blocking the use of ApplePay so that they could continue to encourage TrueMoney - they somehow missed Google Wallet).

and Apple and Google doesn’t like each others when it comes to wallets and payments 😎

Didn't work just now in Pattaya, two 7 Elevens, did you try there?

7-Eleven Thailand only accept True Money app and credit cards (not debit cards) over a certain amount, i think it's 300 Baht. I've never tried Google Money in Thailand as I have iOS (not supported).

  11. I'm in the market for a new MacBook Air, but Thailand's retail price for the spec is pretty high at 61,900 Baht incl. VAT.

Anyone knows of a local dealer that normally has promotions/discounts on new MacBooks?

    Spec that I need:

    MacBook Air 15" : M3 chip 8C CPU/10C GPU/16GB/512GB - Starlight-2024 (Thai-Eng-Keyboard)

256 GB harddisk is preferred though.

Can't find any Macbook Air M2 chip with 15" screen, but that could eventually be an option.
