  4. No more restrictions when entering Thailand on a foreign passport. For all Thai dual citizens: A directive has been sent to all immigration officials stating that Thai nationals who enter Thailand on a foreign passport are no longer treated as foreign nationals for immigration purposes and that they can come and go as they please, without restrictions, on foreign passport so long as they also have proof of Thai nationality (for instance an ID card. This brings to an end the perverse situation of many Thais (for whatever reason) entering Thailand on a foreign passport and being treated as a foreigner for immigration purposes. Source: FB Group “Thai Citizenship Group” Comment: Now I’m still reading up on this, and for the moment I’ll say this is good news for those born with Thai nationality. For those who naturalise as Thai citizens I think it’s wise to be cautious and NOT use your foreign passport in Thailand given the clauses in the nationality act which give the right for the government to strip naturalised Thais (as well as those born with Thai citizenship but with TWO foreign parents with PR) of their Thai citizenship.
  5. Thanks for your feedback! The forum topics will definitively be in more prime space when we are ready in a few days. As I mention in my op we are about 90% ready as we speak. It will also be a forum drop-down menu at the top of all pages, with quick selection of links to various sub forums. Member topics are the most important content, “USG”, user generated content, We will slow down a bit on the news as the competition is hard, lots of sites posting Thailand related news. If you look at our daily newsletter you will find that the featured member topics are listed above the actual news stories. I believe in growth of AseanNow, our visitor numbers are up since three months and the trend is clearly positive.
  6. I am here to listen. I am here to fix a lot of things so this will be a better place. We are about to upgrade the forum software (end of September is my best guess) and we will serve less ads in the future. This is my Prio 1. If you guys have feedback on anything AseanNow so please post and I will reply.
  7. This is not a replacement for the forum home page, it’s an addition for visitors who want a cleaner look. We try to make everybody happy.
  8. Thanks for feedback regarding browsing with dual screen, which can be a bit tricky for the software sometimes.. Could you please try again now. We have done changes that should fix this issue. cheers
  9. Yes, we are actually doing an overhaul with less ads. What did you think of the new portal page?
  10. Hi all! ASEAN NOW are launching a new front page (portal) later this week. Feel free to have a look and your comments and suggestions are welcome. This is still a work in progress (~90%), with many new features to be launched as we go. We have so far included all News forums, and all the local subs will be added by tomorrow. Which subs/categories do you guys think should be listed on the new page? Visa sub forum is already there and a few more... Which subs should we add on the new front? Any bugs or broken links? https://home.aseannow.com/ Why a new front? 1. Forum software design isn't appealing at all. The new portal is our alternative starting point. 2. We neeed to improve our internal linking structuren for SEO reasons. 3. Google loves portal pages like this, and humans too… Here it is: https://home.aseannow.com/ The current forum home page will remain. Your feedback is welcome ????

  16. UPDATE: THAKSIN WILL STAY IN PRISON MEDICAL WARD After a medical check-up, the Department of Corrections stated that former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, 74, has five medical conditions. He will be held in a separate medical ward within the prison and monitored by medical specialists. The five conditions include ischemic heart muscle, chronic pulmonary inflammation, high blood pressure, degenerated spine, and abnormal posture. The food he receives in prison will be provided solely by the prison, and his visitation privileges will adhere to the same rules as other prisoners. However, only his lawyer will be allowed to visit during the first five days of his incarceration. #Thailand #ทักษิณ #ทักษิณกลับไทย
  17. UPDATE: 8 years jail sentence for Thaksin
  18. I personally accompanied the British guy to Labour Department after having had his paperwork and complete paperwork from employer, WP3 etc etc. sorted (complete stack of documentation, no change here). I was also present when he picked up his WP booklet. Not sure if this is a local change or nationwide. Or a one-off thing. I was also curious, and that was the reason for my op. I will check with Labour here for any official change and get back to you. Don’t shoot the messenger.
  19. British guy, 55 years old. Original visa sticker: NON-O with remark “retirement “ Extension 1 year without any change in visa type (visa extension labeled RETIREMENT). Labour dept. granted a 1 year WP and he was approved for social fund.
  20. A friend of mine in Hua Hin has managed to get a Work Permit after applying with full company documentation etc etc etc but with a one year retirement extension. And Labour will apparently continue to renew WP with no regards to extension type. it seems that Labor Department (at least in Prachuap Khirikhan) does not require NON-B or NON-O Marrage in order to issue a WP. He got a Tax-ID and social fund as well. Anyone can confirm or comment on an important change here?
