I rate Thailand’s response to Covid-19 A+. They did 4 simple things-universally adopted wearing masks,

social distancing, hand washing/and hand sanitizer at every public location and strictly limiting the movement of people from one infected area to another. People adhered to the restrictions and death toll stands somewhere between 50-60 people. This is from a country who has limited resources compare to more economically developed nations. The most important metrics are per capital deaths, a population that feels safe and opening the economy back up. By all accounts Thailand ranks as one of the safest places to visit right now. Which developed country can make the same claim?

what does it matter cuz nobody are going (be allowed) to visit ????????

You achieve 300 Mbps+?? Let's see the speed test results: https://testmy.net

You might find it difficult, since Finn Mobile advertise a max speed of 100 Mbps.

right it's all theoretical even if you were alone DL on a cell from a local server able to serve you at that speed it's unlikely to happen. ~25mbps more likely on average & if on FUP ~15mbps typically. not much difference really on 'premium' as usual, but loads better than previously when FUP was 256kbps!!

What a load BS. I have lived here 7 1/2 years. Yes March /April gets bad but where I live in chiang Mai near Hang Dong no big issues. I have 2 x 2.5pm monitors running in house.

yeah monitors in the house is really going to help ????
it seems you didn't live here or maybe you are a smoker. regardless worst air in the world for last 2 consecutive years & indoor is only marginally better than outdoor unless using purifiers! I wish you get long healthy life but odds are against it ????

Why are you posting this erroneous statement everywhere? GOMO is not available to foreigners and the package prices for Finn Mobile don't match with what you are claiming. It's 279 baht, not 200 baht.

Package prices have indeed changed recently & been reduced to just 3 where cheapest 179 (+vat) also include unlimited 10mbps internet after the 5GB @ 100mbps.
Yes sure foreign passports can register as I did twice already latest few months ago so if GoMo only accepts thai id card I guess they are breaching some laws...sad so avoid them although they have english web version 5555 ridiculos!!

  5. unlimited 5G for DTAC & AIS but DTAC dont really have any 5G coverage apart from a few malls here & there:

True have the most extensive rollout as far I know but in CM that means very limited city centre still while in bkk-chonburi its getting expanded quite a bit I think...but true suffer the normal package problems ????
I mean if you already have the linked 4G packages it will extend to 5G too if your device supports the proper 5G bands ????

  6. there are really only 2 packages you want to use if don't want to keep playing/checking promotions every few days/months:

    finn mobile/dtac or ais/ - https://gomo.th/ - https://finnmobile.io/en#_=_

~200B monthly for unlimited 10bmps speed & ~40-80GB max speed 4G/5G, free SMS, free calls ~600min etc.

it's the best combo of prepaid/postpaid that everyone can get without credit checks/workpermit/visa restrictions too!

flexible to change/cancel anytime - monthly bill online ????
Basically you pay the 200B & get everything you need. No need any home wifi or hotspots just use your sim everywhere hasslefree better than most wifi anyway????

finnmobile currently 40GB package but allow 80GB & the unlimited 10mbps speed after quota used which is rare - I used over 2 years now only getting cheaper/better ????

I agree DTAC have poorest coverage & they are not jumping the 5G rollout either so AIS might be preferred way to go especially rural/upcountry locations (DTAC very much bkk centric) - True have most coverage though but with english problems!
The truemoney wallet can be used by any sim though for 7-11 payments etc ????

Luckily, this wasn't my only route to getting an extension, but annoyed at having to shift 400,000 over now at poor exchange rates.  Forever hopeful of Thai baht weakening ????

Another Brit, trying to use the income method was also rejected for not having the proof of source, & his income was well over 40,000 per month, every month.

don't wait for THB to weaken it'll never happen. Euro & somewhat punds had their spike in last few months. Now it's all due to go downhill again so you missed your boat i'm afraid ???? I'd advise you to tx sooner than later...check the history...

While nothing is certain, is it pretty much a done deal when paying an agent or just improve your chances.

done deal unless of course it's a scam/cheat then you may never see your passport again!
from what I was told it's a 100% success service or 100% money back so one don't expect money back thus also not any rejections ????

I contacted Thai and Singapore Airlines today to try and get a flight back from NZ to Bangkok, Thai office in NZ is closed, diverted to Bangkok, spoke to operator for Thai Airways, she said no flights until November and that may be changed, she said there are no charter flights available and repatriation flights are NA, she said talk to the Embassy, this was for my Thai wife son and me.

Singapore Airlines said you can fly to Singapore but could not give price until all the paperwork was done and permission obtained from the Embassy, then we would have to go into 14 day quarantine at our expense.

After that there was no flights available to BK, and no transit flights were available until next year, so very sorry Sir.

I asked if I could go from Singapore to Thailand by Train, she said, don't think so, so how do you have any hope in Hell of getting on a charter flight, the govt has added that you can come by private Jet, what a circus.

    Overland? ????????????????????????????????

The Danish Embassy in Bangkok has several times during the pandemic posted about flight for Europe with possible connections to Denmark, including the recently direct repatriation flights by THAI from Bangkok to Copenhagen; i.e. if you are not too sick to travel, you can get "home".

Assuming you are Danish citizen, have you been in contact with the Danish embassy concerning that you have no registered residence in Denmark, and asked if you based on that will be eligible for an amnesty letter?

Yes this is exactly what I've done & what this post is about ????
I didn't push it any further or tried to backup with any further evidence after their initial blanket rejection as I meanwhile decided to pursue other options (I already assumed they really wouldn't be helpful but wanted to get the confirmation for peace of mind).
So as we can see various EU nationalities don't really have this option to make extensions at Thai immigration & thus yet again shows they are not willing to play the game of their host country ????
Denmark, Finland, UK has confirmed this acc. posters here & other websites such as Sweden, Norway, Germany etc are stating similar with the 'EU blanket' umbrella. None EU nationals have confirmed getting letters but a few UK...
Sad or just shows how compliant we all are & seeking other options already! ????

I would actually like to bet quite a lot on the amnesty getting extended in some shape or form. But since betting would most likely be against the law, I can’t take your bet, but I would love to.

yes of course they are not debating it, for most Thais it doesn’t even pop into their head to think about it, doesn’t really effect most Thai people. It effects all the foreigners which is why this forum is going mental with threads on it but the media is not even writing about it.

And Ive got plenty of options btw, no problem for me to stay past the 26th, regardless if amnesty gets extended.

But it seems pretty clear to me it will get extended. I know it’s easy to come up with arguments for it not being extended. But the real factor is what would happen if it didn’t get extended, which is why it will get extended. If the outcome is just to extreme, whilst preventing that outcome holds few of any drawbacks, then that outcome will rarely occur, simple really.

i cannot be sure, but I’m 99% confident the amnesty in some way will get extended.

Fair enough that you're sorted & cool that you're still betting on the other side despite the odds going by he overall sentiment here as well as media etc????
Once you see the outcome of last cabinet meeting, follow the arguments for & against and extrapolate from the past actions it's getting quite hard to come up with arguments for another sort of amnesty looking with fresh wide open eyes...
We have the thread guessing there's 18 billion to lose if they dont. Nobody care it's probably much less too.
Flights are least of any potential 'panic' issue so that's rules out too. Most non imm holders have caved in & found a way go local or thought enough is enough & made plans to leave/left.
Stuck Tourists are likely more than happy with 6 months extra holiday time & burned the travel budget for several years by now!
Remaining hardcore Thai fans be it family related, business related or the temples/buddhism ???? also have quite many options. Obviously amnesty have been great & convenient & a first but while some other countries still extend Thailand will not alone in thinking enough is enough. Regain control, keep the 'unlimited covid ext.' going for a bit & focus on getting those fresh special tourists inbound!!
Fair for those in country, fair for those stranded overseas - if fairness were supposed to be anything to go by ????

But only time will tell. Some said PM is predictable, but I really have no clue this time around that's why I had to blink first ???? Bring on 22nd!!!

I don't quite understand the point you are trying to make. I said that an official from Immigration said before  16th. July that there would not be an amnesty and then there was.  What relevance does a later article saying there may be an amnesty have to do with things? My original post just said that it is up to Cabinet and no one, including immigration knows what they will do.

the difference now being the 'judgement day' has already passed (was 15th) & cabinet decided to invite overseas tourist on special visa. nothing else has been 'mulled' but surely immigration has done their PR as well as their usual envelope scheme dealings & responsible agents like ones linked here do quite fair job of informing any real options still left with a surprise amnesty on next tuesday having extremely bad odds as there's really no time to have it gazetted b4 amnesty already expires!

    period.
