  1. Do you want Thai Buddhas, Tibetan Buddhas or both?

Are you interested in Tibetan Thankas (beautiful Tibetan paintings of Buddha and his many Tibetan manifestations.

If so, I know of a shop that sells Tibetan Buddhas and Tibetan Thankas also. Recently opened.

  2. Ever see the movie -

The Man Who Would Be King?
A 1975 film adapted from the Rudyard Kipling short story of the same title. It was adapted and directed by John Huston and starred Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Saeed Jaffrey, and Christopher Plummer as Kipling.
History has record upon record of those who lust for power being put down either with an assassination or a suicide like Hitler.
This guy is causing immeasurable problems for the Kingdom. But he will soon be eliminated like all the rest throughout history who thought they were immortal and could do what they wanted without any repercussions.
    Sayanora,
  3. All these Educated, English-speaking Thai staff, now out of job?. Such a waste of high-end talent!

Thais are such well-educated, responsible employees. Guess this is why more and more Filipinos and Malaysians are getting all the hotel jobs and hospital jobs since the AEC is just around the corner.

Well, I guess the Pattaya Go-Go's and Beer Bars will have no shortage of new employees.

  4. My Dear Posters: You all have credible and intelligent comments. But none of us know if what we are responding to has any credibility in fact. I am reminded of the quote associated with Benjamin Franklin “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.” None of us know if what is written in any media is true or absolute imagination by the author or simply being used for propaganda purposes. I will not allow myself to be used as fodder for the media, a government, or some protest group. Your comments are relevant to the issue and the reports on the issue. But we have to ask ourselves if the reports on the issue are accurate and factual and even if the issue, as reported in the media, has any factual reality. Let us not be “Sheep” sent to the slaughter by either the media (Pulp or Internet) or any government, politicians, or protest leader with an ulterior motive. I won’t be used by this Corrupt Group. I don’t think any of you will be either.

  5. Last time they went on strike the food actually improved. I am flying Thai 4 times in the next 2 weeks, I hope the food supplier strikes and Thai have to go out and buy Sandwiches for us.

Great comment, Dr. Bruce! Agree 100%!

Another fortunate by-product of the strike, is that we may not have to fly with this Airline and possibly wind up in the Indian Ocean like the recent Malaysia Airlines mystery.

But maybe I am not stating things correctly. We all know how Thais have a sense of duty, honor, and responsibility. Real Workaholics. The most responsible and dedicated culture in SE Asia. So I am sure no terrorists could board a Thai Airline Flight with all the safeguards in place at the airport. And I am sure all the Thai Pilots are 100% mentally intact and could never be bribed to put an airline down in Pakistan or elsewhere.

So I have obviously overstated the situation. I am so happy to live in a country with such responsible and dedicated people!

  6. This insurrection should have been put down a long time ago.

There is no Buddhist "Middle Way" here. These people are insurrectionists and have to be put down now.

Neither the Thai Government, nor the Military have the Guts to do anything.

    Disgusting!

Killing kids, old ladies, and the indiscriminate lobbing of grenades, and the helter-skelter firing of bullets into a crowd without a Government stopping this is beyond belief.

This Yingluck should be thrown out simply because she is not a Leader - She is useless.

A government has the obligation to protect its people, both local and foreign.

These Thais depend on Foreign Investors such as myself, to employ them.

I have invested for the last 30 years.

Because of this insurrection and the inability of this useless Thai Government to put it down, I will go elsewhere

If any potential Foreign Investor is reading this. Stay Away from Thailand!

Invest somewhere else - Malaysia seems to know how to do things properly.

Let the Thais be unemployed and suffer from their Stupidity and the lack of Leadership.

Wish the Japanese Won WW2 - The Japanese have responsibility and ability. Thais do not!

  7. Hello? Where is the Leader of this Country?

Ukraine latest - The invasion begins: armed Russian-speaking gunmen with Crimea in their grip as Barack Obama warns Moscow

This what a Leader of a Country does when he has the guts to take the reins of leadership and solve problems directly and without trepidation.

Good for you Putin. Putin would have put the Thailand insurrection to an end a long time ago.

Goes to show – Female heads of government simply have not guts

    .

Russian troops were on the move inside Ukrainian territory on Friday, prompting US President Barack Obama to warn Moscow that “there will be costs for any military intervention”.

It was unclear exactly what the Russian forces were doing but two airports in Crimea was taken over by armed men in combat fatigues, barricades shut off road links to the region, military helicopters were seen flying in across the border and armoured personnel carriers were on the roads. The Crimean peninsula’s main port, Sevastopol, where Russia’s Black Sea fleet is based, was also blocked off.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that armored units were operating inside Ukraine, but insisted they were acting in accordance with an agreement with Kiev. Their mission was to protect its naval base, the ministry said in a statement.

However, Ukraine’s interim President Olexander Turchynov condemned the “naked aggression” against his country and accused Russia of a “military invasion and occupation”.

Ukraine “will defend its independence, and any attempts of annexation or invasion will have very grave consequences”, he said, as he made a personal appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw his troops.

    Sure!

  8. For the last 3 hours, I have heard fireworks being set-off every few minutes. Question: I ask you. Is this some Thai holiday? Or is this simply just a few foreign idiots that have notthing better to do than light fire-crackers

Having lived in SE-Asia for over 20 years, and having met and interacted with both SE-Asians and numerous Europeans, I can say one thing categoricaly.

I now have a very new perspective on WWII. History is written by the Victors. But "hindsight" is 20-20.

  9. Lived in Thailand for over 20 years. Never saw the violence which is reported now when I first came here.

Thais seems angry and out-of -control. Why?

The rampant drug abuse? The failure of the family? No jobs, no hope to make a life? You tell me. All factors, I suppose.

Thought Pattaya was declining into a lawless town. Pattaya has murders, rapes, and other violent crimes, day-after-day. Some murders are described as "suicides". Thailand has become "Suicide Heaven". Or a "Heaven" for wives/husbands or hit-men who want to throw their target off of a balcony.

Take a look at pattayadailynews.com for the realtiy of what is going on in Pattaya. A website that reports honest news.

In the States, I never went out of my office or home without my carrying my Walther PPK.

Now I don't got out in Thailand without being armed.

Anyone tries a kidnapping, assault, or attempted murder - I will respond with my firearm. And the cops can scrape them off the sidewalk.

Thailand is no longer a safe place to live or vacation.

Thais are not nice people anymore like they were 20 years ago. Thais have become "East LA Hoods".

Walk around in Bangkok, Pattaya or whereever. Be careful and be very aware that your life is in danger.

Take precautions if you can. If you can't, you are definitely in harms way.

  10. I am an American. You may dislike me simply because of my nationality, or because of the content of the posts I have made over the years on TV.

But today I ask you to forget about me and to take one moment simply as a human being to remember our fellow human beings who were the victims of September 11 and who died in the Twin Towers.

I remember where I was when the first plane hit the first Twin Tower, just as I remember decades ago when my teacher, pale and in tears, told my class that President Kennedy had been assassinated in Dallas.

Thanks. And I hope none of us are ever the victims of these Jihad extremists.

  11. Only one way to stop drug dealers, and fraud artists like these guys – Prison time is no deterrent – it’s a joke to them. I did criminal defense work for 40 years. These sub-humans do the time, laugh at the system, get out, and then come back and continue to prey on all of us. We have a saying in the US – “If you can’t do the time, Don’t do the crime.” The “time/penalty” for guys like this – What the Chinese do – A one day trial, and then a bullet to head.” Pretty good deterrent. Agree?
