Hua Hin immigration online appointment - dead ?
happysoul replied to happysoul's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
I'm not asking if busy or not. Last year it was convinient to arrive at immigration 5 minutes before the appointment time and get served right away. I appreciate not losing my time and mostly at immigration offices. -
Hello, Tried to book an appointment for my yearly extension. I found with difficulties the page for online appointments on immigration website but Prachuap Khiri Khan is not listed. There is just about all provinces but not PKK. Is it me or they just got out of the online booking system ? Edit : added website link and printscreen of link Website : https://www.immigration.go.th/

Thailand's Global Education Ranking Sparks Controversy and Scrutiny
happysoul replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's not the survey that's biased or whatever, it's Thai education system. Stop with "army" learning (all by heart and no critical thinking - the teacher is always right) and start teaching kids how to learn, how to think by themselves and be critical. But it will take a couple generations to change as today's teachers aren't capable of critical thinking themselves. Once achieved, the goverment will have to secure their a.... (or do a proper governing job) as population might start a revolution. -

British Family Seeks Aid to Bring Injured Traveller Home from Thailand
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
So since the beginning of the year we had 36k then 24k and now 100k... Keep coming on ! I have a friend (real person, real experience) that got rapatriated in a hospitalized private jet (Embraer Phenom 300) from Thailand (local airport) to a local airport in EU. He paid.... 0.- (his insurance did). So, yes, it is possible to get rapatriated for free when <deleted> hits the fan but you need some work upfront. -

Brit expats in Thailand warned of scams targeting bank accounts
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Dont trust anything said on the phone, whatever it is. Police is on the line and I need to pay whatever, come get me or let's meet at the police station. Tax same, parcel same, just do it physically never on the phone. I get some of these calls (here or in EU), I like to make them talk for as long as I can. I think the longer they talk with me the less time they will have for others -
Wi-Fi Rescue Boats Boost Disaster Response in Flood-Hit Areas
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
True that when you've had 1.5m of mudd water in your house, the first thing you want is wifi access. 8 boats for 7 provinces, one by province ? If any usefull, what is the range of the boat for providing provisional communication ? By the way, the celular network went down when the floods occured ? I was in constant contact with my friends in CM when it happened 2 weeks ago. Again some bling bling communication to show how the powers take care of people. In real it's just some nonsense useless move. Bet that in 1 year those boats are roting in some governement storage. But the ceremony was nice. Going back to my coffee -

Good move, keep it going (and aim higher if you feel like it) 😉 You also can start looking at hotels and shops with not a single customer and still running fine. Trend looks like it's laundromat now for money laundering (seen a couple open over the lasts months). Fighting coruption will make foreigners happier when paying taxes 😁

Swiss man in Phuket acquitted of assaulting doctor
happysoul replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Good news. Whatever means were used to get acquitted, it's good it doesn't create a case law (in case he would have been charged, sentenced, deported...). For all expats living here it's a good thing as if he would have been charged, we would have had to fear each time you hurt a Local. I'm not saying what he did is any good or that it's good to hurt/hit a local, but I was quite scared of it creating a case law. I have those videos in mind of Chinese jumping on/under cars or other busses etc for getting compensation for being run over (google chinese throwing porcelain or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v11FIrJi720). Even that the roads are dangerous here, happy not to see people on the side of the road waiting for some wealthy driver to jump under the car. It's always better to speak rather than hit in all cases but if you lose it, it sounds kind of crazy to lose you whole life just for a punch or kick. There were my 2 cents, have a great coffee -

Thai YouTuber exposes substandard aircraft repairs

Wasn't the government willing to make Thailand as the hub of aircraft maintenance ? Well well, some work and education will need to be done... Should better stick as the hub of no brainers !- 81 replies
