happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Might not be fair competition for local businesses but who said life is fair. Whatever, Temu, please remove this item for Thai market : https://www.temu.com/th-en/multifunctional-car-steering-wheel-table-tray-g-601099522811409.html?_oak_mp_inf=EJHMoJym1ogBGiA1YzIyZjVhM2M3NTY0YWIwYjJhODQ0MWU2MDMxMTI3NyC93sOGkTI%3D&top_gallery_url=https%3A%2F%2Fimg.kwcdn.com%2Fproduct%2FFancyalgo%2FVirtualModelMatting%2F277f24edc7696151c4f60833cfc65cfd.jpg&spec_gallery_id=2021776170&refer_page_sn=10032&refer_source=0&freesia_scene=1&_oak_freesia_scene=1&_oak_rec_ext_1=MTU3MDA&_oak_gallery_order=199462454%2C119751091%2C1982911461%2C1072294125%2C1130180626&refer_page_el_sn=200024&refer_page_name=goods&refer_page_id=10032_1722564050045_gfcob0ykop&_x_sessn_id=g4oxrkrred π -

Thailand Moves to Legalise Casinos in Tourism Boost
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If Thais are let in it will create much much more damage than flower buds and e-cigarettes. Another proof that nobody cares about a healthy population but cares about rich becoming richer. Sad but it's common to many places that are on what's left of our planet. -
New Mobile Banking Rules Aim to Curb 'Horse' Accounts
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"The proof of the pudding is in the eating"... Let's see how this goes but I'm not really optimistic about it. I have a feel, as often with measures to counter criminals, it will just be a hassle for normal people and criminals will find a way to counter it. And it starts now with the above case. I was in that situation but changed the information to my name when I did it for the kids (so I can control the 3 numbers in the AIS app). I think you can if AIS (don't know about other providers). I did it last year and I have no work permit. -
Thai Woman Missing In Switzerland Found: Embassy
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wonder why she wanted 430 BHT, it's 11 CHF, doesn't even pay for a meal or maybe a MC D special priced menu. I think they have one for about that money. In a restaurant, count at least 20.- with a drink. An additional zero was probably lost in translation π -
NBTC rings changes: Task force to dial down online banking scams
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thanks but I'm ok (it's in my name already). I was just wondering how to do for corporates where you have multiple people that need to access the account and no websites but only an app (as SCB for example). They might have some specific corporate accounts to allow multiple persons ? -
NBTC rings changes: Task force to dial down online banking scams
happysoul replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How about corporate accounts ? For example, SCB has no more e banking website. So how to deal with a corporate account ? Go back 15 years and do all transactions in the bank ? All my overseas accounts have a 3rd party verification. Why not have such systems ? Matching the name of account with SIM card holder will probably be a mess for businesses. Have some more opinions about it but it will be bad for thailand so I STFU π -
One dead, 30 injured in Singapore Airlines emergency landing
happysoul replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
2 years ago, coming back to Thailand with my daughter, Etihad flight "fell" for about 1-2 seconds. The person next to me had a half full glass of beer, not a single drop left in the glass after the fall (I got a free beer shower). 2 rows in front, 2 girls hadn't buckled strong enough, they hit the above head lamps. Some shouting when it happened and complete silence for 5-10min after. I asked the flight attendant how much severe it was on a scale from 1 to 10. She answered 6-7 saying that the locked trolleys remained in place what is not always the case when 9-10. Made me smile π From that experience, when I hear the pilot saying "cabin crew, take your seats" I buckle up tight and always keep my seatbelt buckled when seated (loose but buckled). And unfortunately I'm more stressed (scared) than before when turbulences start although I love the rollercoaster feel it provided. When seeing the mess in that aircraft, It must have been some 10 level turbulences. For sure some people will have hard times boarding again. Edit : the Etihad pilot had some humor in his landing speach, saying "Oh, and sorry for the bumpy ride" π -
We were living in the country side up North, son went up to P5 in the local school, daughter in P2, so 8 years for the boy and 5 for the girl (counting anuban too). They hardly learned anything, military education, don't ask questions, just learn by heart what the teacher says and NEVER contradict him/her. The teachers in rural places are still considered, as it was 50 years ago, as the knowledge (that they don't have) and considered just under the boss (puyaibaan or kamnan). There is a Thai writer that wrote a book about a young teacher coming to teach in some rural village in the 1970's - 80's (can't remember the name of either book or writer). Well, nothing has changed. And probably not the salaries too. You cannot get a good education system if you don't pay correctly the teachers AND educate them too. But all this needs founding and won't bring back money profits. So probably not a priority (and as said above, keep people ignorant so the gig can continue). My daughter had some hard times going to school (only 2 half Thai kids in the school probably didn't help) and it was a heartbreak to force her put on her uniform (wife and I had to hold her very strong to force it on). We now moved and they go to a private school. Tution budget has gone through the roof (from almost zero to much more ;)) but they love it. Also over with the times we get notified of 1 month holiday the day before it starts, the multiple absence of teachers for "patchoum" (meetings or so called) and have finally educated teachers that know where is thailand on a world map. They now have to forget the teaching style they know, get to ask questions and participate in class. Hopefully they'll get some logic, analytic and critic mindset. For now thinking is not prohibited yet π What's quite sad is that 80% of the population cannot afford that kind of education. Today is a day off, daughter is sad as she wanted to go to school, things change π

Eager to see this. You'll see Somchai the mototaxi going the wrong way on the track to "save time" as always. Or a push cart coming to sell somtam to Verstapen on turn 5. Thai population is well disciplined to hold a F1 GP in Bangkok center π€
