Stuck in the UK in a bed and breakfast (my house being rented out until 2022), had to return to uk for hossy appointment and check property and then hit travel ban. Miss the wife and babe all the time - don't expect to get back before another 4-6 months at the earliest with the lockdowns - actually think I will not get back to renew my retirement extension due in January.

On the plus side - I CAN BUT AS MUCH BEER AS I LIKE.

A friend of mine who is in Australia at the moment is also worrying about his yearly visa, I wonder if Thai immigration will show leniency towards people stuck abroad unable to extend their yearly visa?

I've read both and both headlines contain the word "could"....

Because they don't know either.. They think it might be harder to deal with as it will possibly run concurrent with normal flu season, not that it will be worse.

So it is not generally accepted that the 2nd wave will be worse.

A friend of mine in Australia has tod me the cases of flu this year are far less this year than other years, could wearing of mask be the reason?

  3. I live in a quiet Issaan village. I have a security light which comes on from dusk till dawn. My dog roams around only the vicinity of the house at night, he wears a collar and will not touch any food other given by myself. My advice would be to try to befriend the neighbours, mine are very friendly, never had any trouble with them, learn a little thai language. Hope everything works out for you

  4. where is the nearest global house from the night bazaar area in chiang mai?

If you come up from town past Central on your right, Tesco on your left, turn left at the junction where Big C is (ie Maehia Market) keep going for about 4 or 5 K and there is one on your left. Hope that helps you.

  5. A fast adsl a top vpn hdmi tv and laptop and 24/7 sky with mums sub bbc itv c4 c5 and all in between ,also tv cachup filmon etc had the only bar in chiang mai with live sky sports but alas still no customers but no need for true or any other provider and cheaper sammie........

I am up in Chiang Mai in about 3 weeks time, to renew my yearly visa, after I come back from Cambodia, I would like to see your setup in the Bar

(I am a bit low tech regarding hi-tech) it would probably be against the rules to say what your Bar is called, but if you could give us a clue where it is I am sure I could find it.

  6. I have lived here 6 years now and it is certainly no never ending holiday. I would not want to live in a village up north because you will be in total isolation.

I love it here but life is what you make of it but it all boils down to yourself. You can be happy or miserable anywhere. I just think its easier here, but no not a holiday because things will become normal not like on a Holiday.

I do not know why everybody prefers the south to the north I for one cannot stand the south, if you want to see the true thailand head north my man. That is the real test about living in thailand, ask your self is it he birds and the booze you like or is it the thai people, culture, the food. Only you can answer this question. I am going to my thai wifes village tomorrow, (loei) cannot wait the most beautiful part of thailand for sure.
