Steps 2 and 3 are as not as hard as some people make them out to be, usually people who look at the step summaries on the wall and don't study the instructions in the Big Book.

 I usually tell my sponsees who consider themselves atheists or agnostics to ask themselves this question.

"Do you think that all the people in AA who have done the steps and have come to know a Higher Power of their own understanding that has kept them sober and given them recovery are lying?" Are they all having some mass hallucination or delusion? Most reasonable people who are agnostic or atheist will understand that perhaps their ideas about God or spirituality may be wrong and become even willing to believe they can get help just like the many others in the fellowship. Once they become even willing they have done Step 2. Those who continue to balk at this step I'll tell I can't help them. It's a necessary step in order to prepare to embark on seeking help from a Higher Power.

Step 2 - are you even willing to believe a Higher Power can help you? - do you think you can get recovery like others in AA who have done the steps and now feel a Higher Power helping them? Why would your case be any different?

Step 3 - make a decision to seek a Higher Power (what ever your understanding or lack of understanding is) by doing the rest of the steps.. To demonstrate you have made the decision take the action of now doing step 4 and the rest up to step 9. During step 9 start doing step 10 and 11.

Easy when one studies the program from the literature. Unfortunately one of the best kept secrets in the FELLOWSHIP is that the program is in less than 150 pages. The Big Book and Twelve and Twelve essays is where the program of AA is. The program is the 12 steps. nothing more, nothing less. One does not do their "own program" (this comes from other A fellowships) In AA we do one program. The 12steps of AA.

I wonder if the extension for the initial Non-O for purpose of retirement will also require "under consideration" and a return for the result? Or does one get the extension stamp day of the application at CW division 1? I will be making an appointment for desk "L"

Thank you Brit Tim, this was my experience also. First time at CW Division 1 I was asked to return for the "result" which is a bit misleading... lost in translation.  But as you had mentioned on my post that if the docs are accepted it's 99% going to be approved and a stamp given. I was told at the C1 desk to put my phone number on the application in the event they did want to contact me for more information etc.

Yes, I see that now viewing the current open appointments in Dec. Not sure why they do this but it is handy to know to "time" my attempt to make an appointment. Thanks kindly for the insightful help.

Yea, well keeping the Metamask Chrome plugin within Chrome isn't a good idea for sure. With a weak password anyone who might get a hold of your laptop could get access. Id use it this way.. Install it, use it go get your ETH, get your keys, seed phrase etc.. then uninstall.

Thanks, yes I used the Bangkok bank there and the photocopy shop down stairs.. I found the new queue system already ... problem there are only bookings available in early December.. must be a lot of people doing extensions in December.. gonna have to wait in line :-(

Thank you, I had done it in Pattaya 3 times over the last 11 years or so but never CW and of course the requirements are ever evolving . Actually even though CW is crowded the process is a lot smoother and they appear to follow the rules. Where Jomtien Soi 5 is a bit different. Anyway, on the home stretch of getting 1 year. Unfortunately I will be going to CW in Mid December as that is about 30 days before expiration of the Non-O.

Funny, They gave me 90 days from the application date and not the date I arrived for the stamp. I'm hoping the 12 months will be from the expiration date of my Non-O and not application date of the extension

From what I understand "seasoned" for the first extension of stay is two months after funds were deposited? Is that correct? thank you Dr. Jack.

I have not nailed down a long term residence in Bangkok yet. Still trying out some places on a month to month basis. Might even stay one or two months in a hotel while I get something I like. Will that be a probem  at Chang Wattana Division 1 extension desk L? (I was told to go to desk L) I will be going to the L desk for my 1st 1 year retirement extension of permission to stay. Will they accept a hotel  or service apartmentTM-30 along with invoice and receipts or a serviced apartment invoice/receipts?

I will be returning to get my extension now that the Non-O stamp has been issued.

Same experience for me. I returned and got the Non-O stamp with no problem. Once papers are accepted pretty much guaranteed the "result" will be a stamp in your passport.

A side note. This "credit advice" document IS NOT NECESSARY IF YOU SHOW YOUR MONEY IN A FOREIGN CURRENCY ACCOUNT! FYI, to moderators. My experience is that Bangkok Bank cannot issue a "credit advice" document for a FCA. The money being in foreign currency and transfers being shown on the account along with the name confirmation official letter is considered acceptable. Anyone using a foreign currency account to show the 800k equivalent will not need the "credit advice" doc nor can you be issued one. (at least by BKK bank) Just the letters of account name confirmation and last several months transactions is sufficient.

Bangkok, the new "Vegas" of SE Asia. I never cared for Las Vegas much. I lived there for a short time. The place had a bad vibe. Seemed like half of the residents there are always on the hustle. Lots of scams and way less than ethical stuff going on. Trying to buy a used car there was a joke. Talk about scams.

I hope you enjoy it. I used to love to drink but at one point about 35 years ago I lost control of my drinking and became an alcoholic. I needed help and I am forever grateful AA was there to provide the help.
