  1. Hard to stop once you get going with Zeppelin. The Lemon Song off of the '69 Led Zeppelin II.
  2. How true. When the album was released, however, I would play the last song on side 1, Dazed And Confused, the most. For me it was the slow start of the song that midway through exploded into a release of intense rock 'n' roll energy that would excite goosebumps on my arms. Page was wild and brilliant on guitar, Jones' bass line legendary, Bonham's rat-a-tat drumming marvelous, and Plant's deliciously controlled screaming vocals enrapturing.
  3. What a classic British blues number off one of the arguably best rock albums ever. Gotta follow that up with You Shook Me.
  4. Now here's a song I regret having let too much time pass before listening to again. Graham Parker & The Rumour with Don't Ask Me Questions off of their superb '76 Howlin' Wind debut LP.
  5. Agreed. They deserve another play. The title track of their '77 Modern World LP.
  6. Madness with their '83 stand-alone single Wings Of A Dove .
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check Davies out. Hey doesn't have a brother, Ray, does he? Blackburn from Radio Caroline is still on air? Wow. That's amazing. Rock on, eh? LOL The Jam with Start off of their '80 Sound Affects LP.
  8. The Beat with a fine cover of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' Tears Of A Clown released as a non-album single in '79.
  9. You've sparked a trip down memory lane with that China Crisis number, Crossy. Now I'm thinking of all those 80's bands that I've long forgotten. After The Fire with the title track of their '82 Der Kommissar LP.
  10. Adam & The Ants with Dog Eat Dog off of their '80 Kings Of The Wild Frontier LP.
  11. The Boomtown Rats with I Don't Like Mondays off of their '79 The Fine Art Of Surfacing LP.
  12. Thanks for reawakening some long forgotten memories, Crossy. Hadn't had this band on my lips for decades. China Crisis with Working With Fire And Steel off of their '83 Working with Fire and Steel – Possible Pop Songs Volume Two LP.
  13. The Alarm with The Stand, the title taken from Stephen King's book of same name, off of their '83 Declaration debut LP.
  14. Joy Division with Day Of The Lords off of their '79 Unknown Pleasures LP.
  15. Joy Division with their '79 non-album single B-side to Transmission, Novelty.
  16. Just a couple of more things on my mind. I do have an odd sense of humour. I've been told more than once in my life. But you see, not long after birth my mum dropped me on me head and I've been broken ever since. The doctors tried their best to fix me but, alas, I must make do as best I can with what's still working. Drinking copiously seems to help. The other thing is to fawn some appreciation your way for your musical offerings. You've been a welcome addition and helped take much of the burden off of bannork's broad shoulders (think Atlas) to consistently post quality tunes. Don't tell him that 'cause it'll probably enlarge his head slightly. Don't want him blaming me 'cause he can't fit in the door any longer without having to take the hinges off.
  17. I think the humour of my post must of come out all wrong ended. I've been off the thread awhile so I've some catchin' up to do. As I comes to your posting of Pink Floyd's early classic Paintbox and I see there are no reactions I was shocked that you hadn't gotten your average four reactions that you usually garner per post (I've been meaning to ask you how you accomplish such a feat consistently . . . perhaps you have some spare time and can teach me the trick?). It's a great song, after all! Brits are well known for their dry humour and oft times it goes over others' heads. Perhaps my beerwurst and sauerkraut German humour went over yours. No offense, mate.
  18. The Men They Couldn't Hang with Green Fields Of France off of their '85 Night Of A Thousand Candles debut LP. Well, how do you do, Private William McBride,Do you mind if I sit down here by your graveside? And rest for awhile in the warm summer sun,I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done. And I see by your gravestone you were only 19When you joined the glorious fallen in 1916,Well, I hope you died quick and I hope you died cleanOr, Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?Did they Beat the drum slowly, did the play the pipes lowly?Did the rifles fir o'er you as they lowered you down?Did the bugles sound The Last Post in ?Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest? And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behindIn some loyal heart is your memory enshrined? And, though you died back in 1916,To that loyal heart are you forever 19?Or are you a stranger without even a name,Forever enshrined behind some glass pane,In an old photograph, torn and tattered and stained, And fading to yellow in a brown leather frame? The sun's shining down on these green fields of France; The warm wind blows gently, and the red poppies dance. The trenches have vanished long under the plow;No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now.But here in this graveyard that's still No Man's LandThe countless white crosses in mute witness standTo man's blind indifference to his fellow man.And a whole generation who were butchered and damned. And I can't help but wonder, no Willie McBride,Do all those who lie here know why they died?Did you really believe them when they told you "The Cause?"Did you really believe that this war would end wars?Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shameThe killing, the dying, it was all done in vain,For Willie McBride, it all happened again,And again, and again, and again, and again.
  19. Liam Clancy performing And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda live at the Bitter End, Greenwich Village, New York in '08.
  20. What?? I was the first to give this tune a 'like'? There must have been a huge mistake, Mutt Daeng. Space cadets, all.
  21. A great R&B band. Evil off of their '73 Head To The Sky LP.
