  1. Ah, but what you don't understand is that the idea that "we are here only to reproduce" is just that; an idea. Since an idea accepted as true is in essence the definition of a belief then "we are here only to reproduce" is nothing more than a belief. No different than those who believe that there is a reason and purpose for everything. You ability to prove your belief as bedrock reality is just as impossible as anyone's belief that there's a reason and purpose for everything. Since there are many who share your belief then you will tend to believe in the false logic that consensus equates to truth, and so you will comfortably spout your belief as rockbed reality with utmost confidence. The trouble for you, and others, is that not everyone shares your belief. So, in your feeling of righteousness you assume it your inherent right, and perhaps even duty, to abuse others for believing differently than you. People are strange creatures for they have so much difficulty in seeing what they're doing.
  2. A fellow music aficionado. Wonderful tales, Ray. And an illustrious list of talent which I'll have to explore. You'd be a perfect fit for the music thread to share music, rock history, and personal stories. I need to get back there myself. That's my favourite thread on AN.
  3. The sound quality of that video was not the best so here's Green with Mayall on Out Of Reach off of the '67 Hard Road LP. Green is simply mesmerizing.
  4. I saw two of his shows with The Splinter Group in the late 90's in a small, lounge atmosphere venue with hostesses serving alcoholic drinks to your coffee table. At the 2nd show we were told by those sitting by us to stick around after the show and wait until it had cleared out. Sure enough, Green and the band came out to chat with the half dozen or so stragglers for about half an hour. I got a chance to talk with him and had my ticket stub signed by Green and the rest of the band. The first show was a double bill with John Mayall opening the show. I had high hopes that Mayall and Green would jam together but Mayall had another late night gig booked and couldn't stick around. John Mayall on Facebook, 25 February 2020 I was blown away by Peter’s strong personality and ferociously confident playing when he was in my band in the 60's and am so pleased that his legacy is being recognized and celebrated. I’m looking forward to being a part of this fine celebration of his unique contributions to the genre. Another quote on Mayall from elsewhere: Outside of St. Peter, John is the greatest gatekeeper. The long line of talent he found and nurtured is unparalleled. All this on top of his own illustrious talent. And ain't that the truth. And so a small diversion but yet we are still on topic. The Gods have changed throughout history. New ones constantly emerge. And in the 60's we had the emergence of many Guitar Gods. Mere mortals and yet they connected us to our souls. B.B. King on Green: "He was the only one that gave me the cold sweats." John Mayall/Peter Green performing Tears In My Eyes live at the Marquee '67. John McVie and Mick Fleetwood handling the rhythm section.
  5. Dontcha love HOT topics? Why Are Readers Here...So...Interested in...HOT Topics???
  6. Now, now, no need to get a big head. Seriously, though, I've always appreciated your posts. I enjoy your posting style. It's original and certainly not boring.
  7. Everyone has different interests. That fact isn't a shocker of an epiphany that just struck you, is it? So what's the beef? It's like Sunmaster said: I have this restaurant analogy that fits perfectly here . . .
  8. Come now, retarius. You're just denouncing others' superstitions whilst having your own.
  9. Perhaps you're not aware, GammaGlobulin, but you've actually got a cult following. Granted, they're not that vocal.
  10. Why would you automatically assume eternal damnation? We keep getting told by believers their god is merciful. And all loving. Yup, it's why I tossed religion. But throwing out the idea of God as well is like throwing out the baby with the bath water.
  11. That's for sure. Thai women lift my spirits. And more!
  12. Great one, Sunmaster.
  13. what many people fail to understand is that the US consists of 50 states with individual subcultures, level of development and education. So it easy to not be entirely correct when making generalizations about the entire US. Bah! The U.S. has only two types of people throughout the 50 states. Those for Trump and those against. Most of the religious people are on the side of Trump. If we extrapolate from there then that means God is on Trump's side.
  14. Thanks for the hint, Old Croc. So that must be the number One nation in the whole world. Hmmm . . . let me think a moment . . .
  15. Because they are close to dying You should have gotten a lot more laughs for that one. Isn't it said that every joke has some truth in it?
  16. Perhaps that's why the U.S. has free speech whereas the UK not as much.
  17. I'd take Peter Green. He was considered a God in the UK in the late 60's.
  18. No doubt about it, sirineou. So many more people are fascinated by Trump than God. If it can be said that God lives in your head then Trump has millions upon millions of residences. He is, after all, a real estate guy.
  19. The 60's were perhaps the single decade that I can identify which offered such an amazing and prolific plethora of duets and bands featuring grand harmonies. The Mamas And The Papas were certainly at the top of those rich harmonies. The Seekers with their '65 hit single. It's actually a quite fitting song for this thread if the "true lover" is translated to mean our world. And the death of the "true lover" is ours. And your kiss was sweet as wine would be that kiss of our very last earthly experience. Say goodbye my own true lover As we sing a lovers song How it breaks my heart to leave you Now the carnival is gone High above the dawn is waiting And my tears are falling rain For the carnival is over We may never meet again Like a drum my heart was beating And your kiss was sweet as wine But the joys of love are fleeting For Pierrot and Columbine Now the harbor light is calling This will be our last goodbye Though the carnival is over I will love you till I die Like a drum my heart was beating And your kiss was sweet as wine But the joys of love are fleeting For Pierrot and Columbine Now the harbour light is calling This will be our last goodbye Though the carnival is over I will love you till I die Though the carnival is over I will love you till I die
  20. Reminds me of another absolutely vivid dream I had long ago. I mean the kind of vividness with which we perceive our waking reality. I was driving down a road near where I was living at the time. The environment of the dream was a perfect match to the actual physical environment. The sky was forbiddingly ominous and the source of the weather was in front of me. I approached a particular intersection and stopped as there were police vehicles on the crossroad alerting the population via their vehicle's bullhorns with dire warnings that this was the last call to board the spaceships and leave earth as the ultimate doom, whatever that was, was neigh. I was more curious than afraid and so continued driving into whatever maelstrom was ahead of me. I had approached a familiar mall which was totally deserted, as was the entire surrounding neighborhood. No people nor vehicles. Flooding was present and so I turned back. Dream end. That dream is decades old and yet I can still recall every scene. So the mere mention of people leaving earth on spaceships brought it immediately to mind. You triggered me, TBL.
  21. Some interesting stuff being discussed. Puts me in mind of "Childhood's End" and wondering how far you need to go to have the starships in orbit. Re the quote, perhaps you can explain that in simple words. Seems to me to make that happen we could really be in the Matrix, dreaming of an imaginary world while powering the lights for our computer overlords. If so, why can't I dream a much more friendly world than the one I live in? Just so folks can follow along with your reference I'll provide a brief summary: Childhood's End is a 1953 science fiction novel by the British author Arthur C. Clarke. The story follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture. Don't worry, TBL. Your identity will never be lost or absorbed by any Overlords, even if that Overlord is called God. You're safe. And now for some fun diversion . . . The 1931 song written by by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt and covered by Cass Elliot and The Mamas And Papas in '68. I'm sure you'll remember TBL. Dream of the one you love, even if she's fictitious, and have a wonderful dream tonight. Stars shining bright above you Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you" Birds singin' in the sycamore trees Dream a little dream of me Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me While I'm alone and blue as can be Dream a little dream of me Stars fading but I linger on, dear Still craving your kiss I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear Just saying this Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you But in your dreams, whatever they be Dream a little dream of me Stars fading but I linger on, dear Still craving your kiss I'm longing to linger 'til dawn, dear Just saying this Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you But in your dreams, whatever they be Dream a little dream of me Dream a little dream of me
  22. I had a dream just last night in which I had a quite athletic, youthful and attractive body. Which was true in my youth. I was prancing past a group of people and was hoping to attract some female admirers. Then it dawned on me that my face didn't quite match my body. My next thought in the dream was that maybe nobody would notice.
  23. I still have some invested, but in another coin. 67BTC.... I'll take the subject of crypto with you privately.
  24. Both are real, though. Real in the sense that they both have not only eternal validity but their realities are eternal as well. As eternal as their source self. I sense that the rationale you're using is that the only thing which is r-e-a-l is the source self. And those portions of itself which it then projects into other realities is real but not r-e-a-l. Temporary manifestations? Only in terms of a temporal world. Though our experience of the world and of our physical selves is as one successive moment after another everything exists at once and is forever being created in the moment. Our our experience of time in a linear fashion is quite deceptive. It is simply another way of ordering and structuring experience. Just one of an infinite ways. Any object for us is only a three dimensional representation of something which is not three dimensional. Seth is able to perceive our reality and has remarked on a number of occasions that he enjoys doing so. It's also interesting that when he devoted a few chapters to the God concept at the end of his first book he stated something that was quite stunning. All That Is doesn't know if it is the only All That Is which exists and is searching for others like itself. Now that's a bit mind blowing if you try to wrap your head around that.
